Greeted with a smile, and happily let us practice our poor French until it became too technical. We Loved the central location and vicinity to shops and restaurants (but also, our reason for visit; the Xmas market!) We loved Classic French spiral staircase and art decor furnishings- door handles, windows and woodwork as it added to the holiday feeling! ( There was a lift for those on the top floor...) For me, Hotel room sizes are judged on if I can do a yoga session- it was a squeeze but do able. Perfect for a single working person or couple, like us!

Travelling by car to the hotel was chaotic! But no fault of the hotel; centrally located- the one- way roads, busy lanes and the road works. Parking was easy once there. Breakfast was a tray style, which was unclear at first, then became apparent. It was beautifully, typically European so if you've a massive appetite you'll need to ask for more (we didn't) but they ablidged happily with the extra coffee portions! Merci!

The Check-In process was quick, easy and all the information that was needed was explained. The room was very comfortable and with a very modern ensuite, that really made the stay so much more comfortable. The Hotel is about 200 metres from the main entrance of Lille Railway Station, so its very convenient to walk from the Railway Station if your coming up from Paris. The breakfast was more than adequate, and was very tasty. All up, Saint Maurice Hotel is a great place to stay, as it ticks all the boxes that you want in a smaller privately run Hotel

The lift is a little small and only caters for 2 people or 1 person with bags. Its not really a down point just its constrained by the building age / construction, but it works very efficiently.

Clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, free luggage storage, short walk from station.

There was a smell from the bathroom. Also, not the fault of the hotel but there were a lot of beggars. Most of those asking for money were polite but often insistent and on a couple of occasions aggressive. One followed us up to the front door. The hotel is in a lovely position behind the church but at night I felt unsafe walking the last bit of the route because of some of the people following me asking for money. Not all beggars were a problem, I appreciate the difficulty people find themselves in but on 2 occasions although I am from a city I felt unsafe.

The location was perfect, close to everything interesting and also restaurants and cafes. Staff were very helpful. We parked our bikes in an inner courtyard. The views from the 6th floor over rooftops was great. 5th would be good too. And maybe lower. The room was lovely with large (opening windows). It was very quiet. The sun came in all morning during our stay (early Oct).

Location. Staff always superb. Exceptionally close to the station. Excellent value for money. Great for stay overnight or stopovers.

The nuisance of taking a guarantee prior to our arrival. Stayed here since 2014, including 6 nights since November, (3 visits). I sort of understand it, but it is a bit of a nuisance.

The hotel is not new but extremely conveniently located for Euro and Lille main rail stations, grand Place and other tourist sights in the centre of Lille. It's next to St Maurice church in a pedestrianised area, so very quiet. Many bars and restaurants very close. The staff were helpful, the room was small but spotlessly clean, the furniture was old, public areas were a bit shabby, but it's well maintained. We would definitely come back here again.

Room good size, but lack of drawers, etc. Breakfast very filling, lots of nice bread and variety of other things. Location near train stations and lots of central Lille excellent. Overall would stay there again.

Minor problem: my room was on 6th floor but lift stopped at 5th. Stairs a little twisty with worn covering, awkward for carrying heavy suitcase. But I coped.

Excellent location within walking distance of both Lille mainline rail station and the Eurostar station. Situated in a very quiet street next to a beautiful church. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was typically french and really nice and fresh. The hotel building is a little dated, but I think this adds to its charm. The room was similarly dated, but comfortable and clean.

Could do with an iron in the rooms

Great location and within walking distance of most City attractions. What a great find as its close to restaurants, shops, the Lille Square, Cafe's, and just about every other type of shop you could think of! The breakfast is decent and the Staff on reception are really very helpful and friendly.

No negative comments

It was less then a ten minute walk from the train station. It is the same time walking to the main square. The room was spotless when I got there. Good size room and everything worked.

The room can get hot. A fan was provided. Once the window is open, the temperature dropped to a more comfortable temperature.
