Chateau de Varenne is the most breathtaking and joyful property. The attention to every little detail both in the room including the L’Occitane products and 8n the salons was exceptional. You could play a variety of boules including table tennis and pétanque or do nothing but relax in bean bags in the pool or on the day beds alongside which were comfortable and numerous. The hum of cicadas and the beauty of the gardens was so serene. The owners and staff were friendly and accommodating and every little detail was attended to. The proximity to Avignon allowed us to spend the afternoon and evening at the festival and come home to what felt like our very own castle as we unlocked the door and snuck in at 12pm. The breakfast buffet offered a myriad of fresh and delicious products to enjoy.

The Chateau is stunning - the bedrooms are gorgeously designed and spacious, the public rooms are huge with an honesty bar, lots of seating, fun old fashioned games and the outside spaces are beautiful. The service is exceptional - nothing was too much trouble and we were so unbelieveably well looked after. And then theres the gorgeous dog Woody. We travelled with 3 children which can, at times, particularly in French hotels, can be a little stressful. But we were made to feel so at home and the children genuinely welcome. This place really is fabulous.

We had a warm welcome from our hosts who were very friendly and extremely accommodating! They booked a restaurant and taxi for us last minute and their children came to tell us the taxi had arrived. As well as allowing us to have a late check out and use the facilities before we left for our flight back. The chateau is beautiful with different rooms with games, an honesty bar with wine, soft drinks and snacks, the breakfast room with complimentary pastries, water machine and hot drinks machine. We made use of the pool which was lovely despite being attacked by mosquitoes. The terrace was also lovely too which was nice and peaceful. Our room was for 4 people with two comfy double beds, a bathroom (separate toilet to shower and sink). It was big enough for four adults for a short stay. Finally, Todd the dog was so cute and friendly which was the cherry on the cake!

Only minor thing is we would have liked a glass panel on the bath as otherwise the water goes everywhere and makes it hard to wash properly.

It's hard to explain how magical a place the Chateau is. We stayed 2 nights with another family and had the most amazing time. The accommodation is spectacular with so many great touches, making our stay even more special. The rooms are very comfortable, the outdoor spaces are relaxing and welcoming, and the common areas inside are beautiful. Emma, Paul and the whole team were very helpful with all our questions and helped with bookings and suggestions around the area also. We're already planning when we can visit again.

Not much! It really was a magnificent stay

The Chateau finds itself nestled in a picturesque landscape, in close proximity to the Rhone River and within convenient reach of the principal Provencal villages. Our journey led us through four distinct hotels across the Provence region, and I find myself unequivocally concurring that this hotel stands as the quintessence of excellence, a sentiment fortified by the following aspects: Owners: Overseeing the operations of this relais in an authentically Provencal manner, they manifest both affability and refinement Personnel: Their outstanding caliber and their solicitude for the welfare of the guests imbues one's experience with a sense of wonderment Hygiene: The rooms, permeated by a redolence of freshness, consistently maintain an impeccable standard of cleanliness, which is a rarity observed only in certain places Breakfast: It assumes the stature of a culinary experience, featuring an extensive array of food. I would recommend taking it in the early hours of the morning Aesthetic: Not only common areas, but also rooms boast a superlative array of textiles, harmonising splendidly with distinctive and singular fashioned pieces of furniture.

The hosts were exceptional and accommodating to our requests and all the staff were extremely pleasant. The rooms were beautifully decorated, breakfast was excellent and served outside on the days the weather was accommodating. There were lovely views of the large gardens, village and countryside everywhere you looked. Very nice pool area. There was also a very delicious Italian restaurant within walking distance, which we highly recommend. We were close to Avignon, Chateauneuf du Pape and other excellent wine regions.

The Chateau is just magical. It's an amazing and unique experience that we've always been looking for. The house is stylish and beautiful. The interior decorations and the room layout definitely add more sauce to it. The garden is very well maintained and is a perfect place for a cup of tea and some pastries which are free to serve. The homemade ice tea we had during the summer was a must-try. The owner stays there with her family and their dog and made us feel warmly welcome. She also gave us an amazing tour around the garden, took some high-standard photographs and left some lovely goodbye gifts. No matter you are looking for a short stay for your trip or a week-long stay to relax, this is the place to be!

The property is absolutely gorgeous. It's immaculately kept and we loved the space to play pétanque. The inside communal areas are very cozy and we loved being able to grab a glass of wine and play a game of chess or find a cozy spot to read. Our room as lovely and the breakfast was a delicious spread.

The property itself is located a good distance from any restaurants or markets. Be aware that if you don't have a car, you will need to take expensive and time-consuming taxis to the nearest restaurants. I wish the property did more to offer food beyond breakfast so that we didn't need to travel so far to get meals.

Friendliness and welcoming nature of the lovely staff, beauty all around, gorgeous facilities! Breakfast was lovely, and we adored Woody the dog! It was really nice to be able to access the coffee machine & snacks during the day, and have access to other drinks. Everything was just gorgeous. Our only regret was not staying for longer.

The only things I can think of are super minor - because the bathrooms don’t have fans, it might be nice to have some spray in there. And maybe a shower curtain for the tubs with the shower attachment?

Felt like our private little chateau!

Would be lovely to have some hot options for breakfast but honestly it was super for a French breakfast. Lunch and dinner are not available on site…sometimes it would have been nice to stay in in the evenings BUT we did know this was the case before booking and Pendino the Italian in the village was superb!
