Jaw dropped as we arrived at this enormous monastery in a village in the German countryside. Free parking was right outside. Having recovered the keycard, we tentatively entered the beautiful building, guessing that room 30X would be on the 3rd floor. After that, we were amazed at the quirkiness and quality of the interior decorations. The lift was top tech, and the 3rd floor had been painted to make it an old German village street, with starry lights, pretend shutters, and a cobble-stone carpet!! The beds, the bathroom, everything was top quality - going to steal a lot for home deco!

Since we were arriving after 6pm, we had instructions (in German) where to find the key card. This is not a hotel so there is no reception after that time, and it did feel strange going into a huge monastery and having to understand where to find the room. The location is rural; however there are restaurants nearby, even later in the evening. Only things missing- bath towels and soap (though there was shower gel).

Breakfast is great. Dinner is great. Ladies working in the kitchen and the cafe are very nice and giving a good vibe.

Lady at the reception is not for that position. Not helpful, rude, cold. Mattress is large but one side of it is gone. Room needs a fan, bathroom needs more powerful fan. Small carpet under the bed is a must.

We loved our short stay at the Kloster. Beautiful buildings, room spacious and clean, lovely shared living room area available in our building, free parking and lovely large grounds away from the road so very peaceful. There is a café open in the afternoon serving coffee and cake, very relaxing.

Very calm hotel located on a Monastery property. Everything was very clean, very high quality and well maintained. We arrived at night, but the key well placed in a lockbox and the code was sent to us by email, very convienent!

To be honest everything exceeded our expectations. The only thing we would have liked to have was a small fridge in the room for storing food.

We had a wonderful stay, rooms are updated and clean, the grounds are beautifully kept. The restaurant had amazing dessert and coffee. Breakfast was good. The staff were friendly. Free parking. Would definitely return.

Special atmosphere, clean and peaceful. Simple and functional, pleasant colors.

The cheaper rooms did not have private bathroom, the bathroom of the larger room was good and clean.

We looked for a quiet out of the way property. This is that. Picturesque location. We arrived late, staff is only available till six pm, but instructions were clear to open a digital locker with room keys. Great restaurant in next town Berkheim.

Breakfast instructions. They weren’t included in the emails. Breakfast was convent like; large hall, spartan, until 9, put your own plates away. But there is breakfast so it makes Haus San Dormiano a great stop over for a longer onward journey.

Amazing place, beautifully designed, completely clean.

The nearest place to eat is in the next village, the Kloster Café closes at 17 o’clock.
