Gym and sauna were nice and clean. Room came with hair dryer and iron and both worked well.

Bathroom door kept swinging open. Bathroom tiles were squeaky, and smelled a bit but otherwise clean. Had to keep moving shower gel in and out of the shower as there was no separate hand wash. The cleaning service was minimal, they did not do the bed to the state I expected at check in. The staff forgot to book our sauna session in so we had to wait on the day for it. Tea and coffee provided in the room but instant coffee and powdered milk only. No bath robes.

The location was great - very near two train lines as well as bus stops. We thought it was great to have bicycles available to borrow from the hotel, although we did not use them. We appreciated and used the umbrellas available to borrow from the lobby. We also appreciated the selection of snacks and beverage items available to us when choosing to forego daily cleaning service. We ate most of our breakfasts and bought sandwiches to take for lunch while touring at a cafe on the corner (turn left when you exit the building), and also ate a delicious breakfast at Yada Yada. The staff in the front lobby were extremely pleasant and responsive to every request.

The hotel room doors do not close automatically and seem quite thin, unlike the fire rated doors in other hotels we have stayed in. They did not seem very secure or afford auditory privacy. The cleaning crew came around quite early in the mornings, even after we indicated we did not require daily cleaning.

Very friendly, helpful staff; delicious breakfast with many delectable items to choose from; comfortable beds, great air conditioning, fabulous room darkening drapes. Appreciated having the safe in the room. The hotel is in a perfect location, walking distance to the Island of Museums, the Spree River, shops, restaurants, tours.

There was only 1 drawer in the entire unit. Both my companion and I had to live out of our suitcases for 5 days, without anywhere to store our individual clothes that did not require being hung in the closet.

We were extremely well looked after by all the art 'otel staff whether with enquiries or help at the front desk, breakfast service or at the bar. Special mention must go to Sebastian and Luca who were the perfect hosts behind the bar, always very welcoming and courteous - and Sebastian made a mean Martini! We were sorry to say goodbye to them. The bedroom was comfortable, if compact, and the decor was quirky and stylish, and lived up to the hotel's name, with paintings everywhere you looked. We had an excellent spread for breakfast every morning. The location was quiet, next to the canal, and had a great neighbourhood bar and an excellent Middle Eastern restaurant nearby. Also very well appointed for most of the main sights - within about 20 mins' walk. A good choice for a first visit to Berlin and we really enjoyed our stay.

The two S-Bahn stops near our hotel were both unavailable for the duration of our stay (as far as we would tell) because of ongoing work and there was a replacement bus service instead. This was outside of the hotel's control but worth checking connections ahead of time if walking is an issue (it wasn't for us, just a bit more tiring, and we used cabs instead). Not a huge choice of restaurants close by but easy enough to go further afield if you have the energy after a day of pounding Berlin's streets!

Excellent location great room design and wonderful hotel in general. A special thanks to the lady who checked me in - kind, efficient, professional, and showed high understanding. When I arrived I was caught by the heat and fatigue. She saw me needing to refresh myself, she provided all require info without overwhelming me. Also she understood the fact that I travelled alone, she avoided at all cost telling my room number in public. An example of great reception staff. Thank you :-)

On my second day I asked the gentleman at the reception not to clean my room during my stay. I showed him my key along with my room number. He just carelessly screamed out my room number at the reception full of guests. ;-( Not at all great for solo female travelers, or any travelers really. Please think twice before you read out this kind of information from your guests!

I absolutely love the decor of this property. In front modern and old on the back!Rooms were spacious and simple/modern.The location was fantastic and close to anything. You can hire a bamboo bike.Loved the cocktail bar.

We have been misled by staff that there will be a parking space for unfortunately on our arrival there was no space so we had to leave our car outside and pay €3/h.The next day we managed to park in sister hotel but the garage is so tiny that when gets full and your car is slightly bigger like hatchback type you will find almost impossible to park!

The location is great. You have multiple bus and metro stops around. In a 10 min walking distance, you have a city center with supermarkets and many other shops where you can buy food and necessities. The neighbourhood is clean and calm and down the street, you have two coffee shops. Also, there’s a bar, restaurant, gym and spa on the premises.

The TV in the room can be updated. No streaming apps are available and the TV sits on the only table available which swallows it. I believe they can it on the wall and creat more space and actually fit the room’ aesthetic.

restaurant wasn't open for evening meals - we were too tired to go out one evening.

Room was rather pricey as it was the we of the 1st of may (general holiday in Germany). But compared to other similar options, it was cheaper. Room was comfortable and clean, hotel located about 15min away from Alexander Platz.

There was literally no water pressure in the shower. And I assumed the problem was prior to my stay. I asked the front desk to fix it twice but it didn't happen because of the WE (no maintenance crew available). So I had to take my shower in the spa facilities, which was not the most convenient. Yet the hotel management (Shira not to name her) handled the situation very well. Asked me if I wanted to move to another room (upgrade), which I didn't do eventually. Didn't feel like packing everything for one night and having to clean a 2nd room. On top they gave me a voucher for the bar and offered complementary things for my next stay. So kudos to them for taking my complain seriously.

The wonderful and capable staff throughout, Reception, Cleaning staff, and those in the Breakfast room. Artworks were beautiful and the reason I booked art’otel in the first place. Yes, there was noise as my room was street facing and on the bottom floor, but earplugs meant I slept great every night. Breakfasts are plentiful, room and bathroom are clean and tastefully decorated with everything I needed like a safe, a desk, space, and a hairdryer. Shower was good, water temperature in mine changed a little but by and large it was constant. I needed advice on trains, and Christian on Reception helped me out by advising to walk 400metres to nearby Jannowitzbrucke S+U station and get a more direct train to where I was, local info that helped that day and afterward. On check-out, Monika on Reception was a pleasure to deal with, and took care of my luggage until I needed to leave for the airport, and another staff member called me a taxi. Note: Berlin city is very far from the airport: a local gave me this help to get to art’otel: take the FEX train (airport train) as far as S Ostkreuz Bhf, it gets in on platform 14 (‘Gl. 14’). Then walk to the S5 line in the direction of S Westkreuz platform 6. Travel 2 stops and get off at S Ostbanhof platform 11, then walk outside, CROSS THE ROAD to the bus shelter and catch the 147 bus marked U Leopoldplatz via S+U Friedrichstr to stop ‘U Markisches Museum’, and finally walk the 130 metres across to Wallstreet 70 where art’otel is. If you’re travelling with a group, children, or the infirm, please note this. For this reason, and cos I wanted to be sure to be on time for my flight back home, I took a taxi back to the airport This cost 69 euros and took about 1 hour at 4pm on a Monday afternoon, but it was worth it to not have to haul luggage up and down platform steps etc and work out unfamiliar trains. Overall the staff are really the jewel in art’otel’s crown, a funky art-loving hotel in Mitte on the canal.

Hard to get to, especially as a newbie who doesn’t speak German. Some directions from the hotel would be helpful, else use my directions in the ‘positive’ post. Correct at March 2023.
