October 2023

Stayed in Bonn to go to the Anuga show, in Cologne (Cologne is just impossible during the Anuga). The Collegium Leonium is a residence for older people with an area working as hotel It's obviously very quiet, rooms are confortable (also the social areas,( although I spent almost no time there). What was important for me was to be close to the train station and it's just a short walk away - very convenient. It's also not far away from the city centre or the river.

The only thing I will mention is that rooms are cleaned just once every two days. This was not a problem for me - I was there just to sleep- but may be important for some travelers and I don't recall it being mentioned when I made the reservation (maybe it was, I haven't seen it).

The older part of the building was beautiful and the hotel location was central yet not on a noisy street. It was a very quiet stay and the hotel had many facilities, such as a pool, a garden, etc. The breakfast was good and the staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms were incredibly spacious (at least for one person) and the front desk was very pleasant, going out of their way to help me.

Some of the rooms were located very far from the entrance and it was easy to get lost in the corridors which all look the same. Additionally, the terrace connects several rooms and it felt slightly unsafe - dividers would have been appreciated. The pillows had a little too square and flat, and the tv was all in german - I could not change the language nor the subtitles. Nevertheless, I had a very nice stay!

The location of the hotel was fantastic, walking distance from either Stadthaus or Hbf (though at the time of our visit the Hbf was closed for construction work). The room was spacious, and the heated pool is a huge bonus. Bathrobes and slippers are available upon request. One thing to note is that as this hotel is part retirement home and part hotel, it is very quiet and all the facilities were clean and disability-oriented (hand rail, lift, well-heated rooms etc.), which suit the needs of families with young children as well. The restaurant was on the higher end price-wise, otherwise very good food and wine.

If there is one thing I have to complain about, is that there is no fridge in the room.

April 2023. Nice sized room with kitchenette. Our room appeared to have previously been part of the retirement home. Wondering if they just carved off a wing of retirement home rooms and converted them to hotel rooms. Overall we enjoyed the quiet location that was still within easy walking distance of the central Bonn area. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of good quality choices. Public parking deck across the street that was very convenient and reasonably priced.

Wifi was spotty at first and then just didn't seem to work. Would consistently get disconnected after a few minutes, lose signal, etc... This was with 2 different iPhones, 2 different iPads and our travel laptop. Front desk tried to help us but we never were able to get it working properly. Eventually purchased a cheap German SIM plan and tethered off of that phone for our internet. The wifi did seem to work perfectly in the lobby and dining areas, just seemed like the wifi signal didn't work down our wing.

Our family of four stayed in two adjacent rooms, which were doubles rather than the twins requested - but no problem as the beds were large and had twin individual duvets. It's a lovely old building, close to the train station and town centre. Our kids loved the pool. The breakfast and room comfort were all great.

It's worth noting that this grand old building is also an assisted living residence, with shared use of facilities, so if you have some lively and loud young kids with you … some extra care may be needed when around elderly residents.

Near to the train station. Big building. Spacious lobby. Spacious room. Comfortable beds. Spacious bathroom. Wide bath cubicle. Lots of storage space in the bathroom. Very quiet and peaceful. A bit of a seminary retreat feel. Good breakfast spread. Great that the pool and sauna were opened till late at night. Water kettle and bathrobes were available upon requests.

The entrance is not like a typical hotel since it shares with an assisted home. I was uncertain of whether i was using the correct entrance. There wasn't a cold room for cooling down after using the sauna. So i walked out to cool down in the courtyard.

Fabulous concept of mixing care home with hotel accomodations We found it worked very well Extremely friendly and helpful receptionist and all staff very pleasant We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Excellent location to explore Bonn city centre

The Internet is very poor and can be difficult to access But we had little need of wifi to enjoy our break other than a movie to relax with at bedtime

Superb location and quality of accommodation and facilities. Mostly very pleasant and helpful staff.

Breakfast room staff sometimes a little confused about arrangements, even though we stayed six nights with breakfast included. Oddly, on each morning, staff seemed surprised at my party’s arrival. When the final morning arrived I was asked to book a table next time which - amongst other things - was ‘strange’ timing and seemed a bit grumpy.

Spacious room, friendly staff who were very helpful, e.g., providing a fan. Very central location and yet calm at night and during days. Very good breakfast. Nice but small internal garden. There is also a reasonably sized swimming pool that we did not use. It was a bit weird since the same building hosts the Nova Vita residency for old people. So it can happen that you meet a disoriented woman in a wheel chair in the lift. If one does not mind, everything is perfect.

We had a room at the south side. Since there is no AC, it can be hot in the summer. Many hotels in Germany do not have AC, so nothing too noteworthy.

Comfortable room, pleasant professional staff. Great breakfast buffet and a good restaurant. Interesting building used to be a monastery with a mix of new and old parts. This place is both a hotel and a retirement home, so you get an interesting mix of residents, their families, and hotel guests.
