We liked the location, facilities. We could see Alpspitze and Zugspitze from our balcony. The receptionists are very helpful and friendly. They speak English. They gave each of us a guest card with which you get some benefits, for example, all buses are free except 9840. You also get 1€ discount per person for partnach gorge tickets Moreover, it is located in foothills of Wank mountain, so it was easier for us because we wanted to hike Wank mountain.

The hotel is in Partenkirschen part therefore most of amenities are a bit far. I think it is more accessible from Garmisch. We like to walk so it was not a problem for us, but just in case anyone wants to know.

We had a great stay at Hotel Schatten overall. The room was spacious and that bathroom was nice. The bottle of water ready for us was a nice touch, and we really appreciated the fridge to store basic foods and leftovers. The bed was comfortable and the room had nice natural light. The location was great as far as proximity to bus stops and the main town area and the hotel gave us guest cards which included free public transport during out stay which was very helpful. Although we didn’t use it, the kitchen and dining area was open to guests to use on their own which was nice.

A few things could be improved- There were not any extra blankets in the room and it got quite cold at night. The fridge was not very cold however I figured out how to change the setting to make it work. The location is a bit far from the main train/bus station and buses don’t run very often so it was difficult to carry our luggage for a 25 minute walk. There wasn’t any provided breakfast.

The location was great. The room was perfect.

The breakfast was good but the woman who ran it was unfriendly and it cost 14 euros.

The view of the mountains and pastures with sheep and cows and sitting out on the balcony was so quiet and relaxing and peaceful. Bed was super comfortable. Barbara was at reception every day and very helpful when we needed it with the bus or suggestions on places to visit. Lovely place and very much recommended.

We kept the windows open all the time and although we didn’t ask for a fan it could have helped during the day when we were hanging out. At night it always cooled down and hearing the church bells and cow bells was lovely but our first night or do the white noise from a fan could have been good.

The room was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect, as we were able to enjoy the local flavor easily. I'm sorry I never got their names, but there were two exceptional employees that we encountered. One being the young woman (short blond hair) who worked the breakfast room and also did housekeeping. The other being the young woman (shoulder length dark hair) who worked the desk on our second night and the day we checked out (27-7). Both of these women were very friendly and helpful. They always went the "extra mile" and made our stay very enjoyable. I can't say enough about the both of them.

The extra daily parking fee and the price of a simple breakfast were turn-offs, but neither really impacted our stay. We just didn't eat breakfast at the hotel.

Bed was very comfy, room much bigger than I was expecting. We booked a room with a balcony but didn’t use it much as we visited in February but it had beautiful views of the mountains. You can hear the church bells from the balcony and at night can enjoy some stargazing! Heating in room was very good. Well equipped with good shower, mini fridge and tea/coffee. The staff were really friendly and gave us some good dinner recommendations including Drei Mohren where we had a brilliant meal. Hiking maps, leaflets were also available at reception which was a nice surprise.

We tried breakfast on our first morning here and there was a good selection of meats, cheeses, cereals and fruit but at a cost of about €15 per person each day we decided not to try it again. If it had been cheaper or included in our stay we definitely would’ve had breakfast here again.

Breakfast was great, abundant and diverse. The room was quite big, we had a water boiler and the bathroom was clean and equipped. The location was wonderful, peaceful and close to a very nice old street filled with places to eat. Staff was very kind and always present.

Unfortunately at the moment we went, the bus stop close by was not available because of construction so to move from the main station to the hotel was a bit tiring for an aged person. Also, our shower was never refilled (from the start) with the shampoo/soap even though they had to refilled the hand soap at least once.

The view of the mountains from the balcony.

Old hotel in need of updates. Located near a farm with three cows. The street near the hotel was smelling of cow manure. Also the hotel is located next to a church, which was ringing the bell every 15 min, all day and night. City tax was 3 Euro per person per day. Breakfast was an adițional change of 13.90 euro per person per day; it was basic, and the same selections during our four day stay. There were flies in the breakfast room. One big problem was the lack of air conditioning, making it very difficult to sleep at night with the windows closed due the noise from the church bell.

It's an amazing place, an amazing hotel; very quiet, clean, but, sorry, it is cleaned superficially by hotel staff. The breakfast it's very, very good!!! Everything else is superlative, thanks you!

The coffee from breakfast is very bad, in the next condisions: there is a coffee machine in the kitchen, but "it is mine". I known that: the guests get what's better, but you don't know! Sadly. Repeat: Everything else is superlative, whitout that thing.

We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. The staff is extremely welcoming and kind - right from the person at the reception to the one in the breakfast hall to the one tidying up your room. They hooked us up with a bus ticket for the duration of our stay. This made getting around much simpler. The hotel is located right off Ludwigstraße which is a lively stroll at any time of the day. If you walk a little up slope, you also get a beautiful view of the entire town. Would definitely live here again.
