If you're reading the reviews just as I was before we stayed at Sparta Team Hotel, then don't be put off. We were slightly skeptical after reading some questionable reviews, but the hotel far exceeded our expectations; there were no bedbugs, no smoke in the room and the elevator was not loud. We stayed in the superior double room with private bathroom, so can't speak for the dorm rooms, but it was fabulous - the room was a great size, clean and had a balcony (even though it said it didn't come with one). We stayed for a week and would definitely stay again as it was such good value for money; the staff were lovely and very helpful, resolving any issues/queries we had quickly.

The only aspect that some people may not appreciate is the area, as the street that the hotel is on is slightly removed and there are some men who do just sit around doing nothing, but we never had any issues with them. For us, the location was fab as it is right next to Psiri, which is a very vibrant urban neighbourhood with lots of live music, shops, bars and restaurants. We walked pretty much everywhere (even though the hotel is right next to the Omonia train station). So don't let the area put you off - we only used the hotel to sleep in and come back to in the afternoon for a siesta.

The staff has been very welcoming and kind. Even after the checkout (which was at 11:00) they let us leave our bags at the reception to go sightseeing. The hotel is located at 15/20 minutes from the historic center and 10 minutes from Monastiraki station. Rooms were clean and not once have we found the shared bathrooms dirty or unavailable. Great value for money.

Despite being close to most attractions, the area surrounding the hotel is pretty degraded. Wouldn't recommend going out at night. The air conditioning did not work properly and would turn on and off randomly as the window was closed.

Seeing the reviews online, I was very worried and sceptical about this hotel. However, my stay at Sparta Team Hotel really exceeded my expectations. We were on level 3 in room 303, and there were absolutely no bed bugs or cockroaches, everywhere was clean and smelled great. Staff were friendly even when we accidentally left our room key inside. In the room there was even a mini fridge, which is definitely a plus.

The only downsides were that you can easily hear other people from the rooms next to you, and that the location of the hotel is not the safest part of Athens. Late at night it is very dark to walk through and quite scary, especially for women. However, giving that this hotel is only 1 stars and very affordable, I think that overall, it is very very worth it. I would highly recommed!

I really loved the staff, to be specific the blond lady, the receptionist was just amazing!!! I could say the same for her colleague with red short hair!!! They are just superstars!!!!! They were kind, polite and always willing to help us. Whatever we needed they just been on spot !!! Thank you girls for your hospitality!!!!

Unfortunately I left with many bed bug bites on my body. I ve read reviews after I ve booked it. But anyway the price was really cheap , so that was the consequence of my choice. I can’t complain about it.

Hey, location is great, close to everything. The staff went above and beyond, really nice and sound reception worker, she was unbelievably friendly caring for our every needs and doubts, she helped me with my bookings calling activity center and speaking with them for me, really great, she also booked me a taxi to the hotel for the next morning when I was leaving, I just called reception and she sorted everything out, she made our stay easy and care free. The room was clean, top floor, big balcony, comfy beds. The neighbourhood its right next to Omonia sq. (5 min walk) In athens, and that's only one subway stop away from monasteraki (city center), there's a bunch of great breakfast choices has you walk those five minutes to the Omonia sq. I will surely come back.

Neighborhood has a few sketchy characters. I felt like it wouldn't be a problem for me even if I was alone, they don't even interact with the guests, but, if your are a girl travelling alone, it could be a bit intimidating.

The room was comfortable close to public transport and despite all the Google reviews I didn't find a single bed bug which was excellent news, the aircon wasn't very cold but it was set at a nice temperature. And staff were friendly when we saw them

The outside street is very run down but that's just an outward thing that I could see was being worked on by the local council and was a little annoying to manoeuvre a suitcase on.

a private room in the centre city for a low budget price feels like a lucky shot. and I was lucky. it started with the very friendly staff at reception. Than the room was exactly as expected, simple but clean and good. I made a great choice with this budget price room. everything was at walking distance.

I can imagine some travelers can be intimidated by the vibe you can feel at late evening when arriving to the front door of the hotel. in fact it is just the atmosphere that is normal for Athens city, as I figured. Nothing to be afraid of otherwise you should not be a traveler looking for a budget place in a big city. in fact all was just fine with the neighborhood. Any street in Athens can be scary at night. But in reality there is not much to fear of. Athens is just a city that can look dodgy at late hours. Nothing to worry about. I had no problems with it.

I was in a 6 bedded dormitory, the location was good enough, it's really the value of your money and the most important part was the reception girls, they are more than ready to help you anytime you need, especially the reception girls who helped me to find a taxi to reach the bus station on time though it was a public holiday and there wasn't any taxi available in that time through online/offline. Thank you, girls, see you next time.

Expecting cleaner and there were limited toilet facilities, one on each floor.

The staff were incredibly friendly, very lovely and accomodating. It's incredible value for money, about 10 mins walk from Monistiraki, which is the centre of nightlife, so it's a great location. The bedroom was plenty in size, had a nice balcony, good air conditioning.

Other guests can be a bit loud if drunk, we didn't personally mind but it's worth mentioning. The lift only fits 2 people, so it's a tight fit. There was a slight issue with the water not working one of the days, but it was promptly fixed.

The location is great. It's a budget place but our room was clean and secure. WiFi worked great and the beds were okay and shower good. Receptionist Artemis was SUPER nice and professional!

My mum said there was a bit of noise in the night but I didn't notice any. We didn't have or have access to hairdryer or kettle in our room which wasn't ideal but not a big deal. The rest of the hotel is quite dated but it's fine.
