Unlike many "hotels" in Iceland that turn out to be little better than hostels upon a closer look, this guesthouse is in fact comparable in quality to a very good 3 star hotel. The room was very large, featuring a very comfortable bed, panoramic windows with awesome views and a spacious bathoom with modern facilities quite unlike rusty, leaky, smelly camping-style WCs we've had to live with at some other places. Everything was perfectly tidy. The place was a very welcome respite after a mouldy motel we had to stay at the previous night. There is no on-site restaurant, but the guesthouse is 5 minutes drive from the centre of Hofn. If you come in high season, you will most likely have to book in advance as there are very few restaurants in the town and they tend to be fully booked. Borislav, the guy at the reception, was incredibly helpful in a lot of practical ways. If you are reading this, Borislav - many thanks to you mate, it was really nice getting to know you! Given the place's very reasonable rates, I highly recommend this guesthouse. I am not giving good reviews lightly, for I do expect to receive quality when I pay for it. Milk Factory certainly delivers.

Very clean, good storage. Nice walk in shower. A full breakfast spread included -meat, cheese, bread, fruit, juice, cucumber and tomato, coffee and tea. Location was close to Hwy 1 . Good restaurants including Pakkus-go early! Our unit had a queen bed downstairs and one upstairs in the loft.

There was a lot of traffic and was loud at night. The unit was really warm, especially in the loft. We’d recommend to Milk Factory to have fans available. Tried to leave the windows open but traffic was loud.

Unique location in a converted milk processing factory - although it really just looks like a nicely remodeled hotel with some photos and decorations reminiscent of its former role. We had a four person room which ended up including a loft with two beds upstairs, which we were not aware of. The stairs were wide and safe but could present a problem for some. The main room was quite small but nicely decorated. The upstairs loft included a small freestanding fan, which I used to bring in some fresh air. The bathroom facilities were fine and the rain style shower wonderful. They provided an included breakfast buffet that offered good quality foods. The hotel is located in Hofn, which was our favorite town outside of Reykjavik with lovely walking paths, nature and art trails and some good restaurants.

Rooms were quite small and it was relatively expensive - more expensive than the nice hotel where were stayed in downtown Reykjavik. There are limited accommodations in the area, so that is probably a factor. The grounds around the hotel are not attractive and it is just off the main road into town, but it was quiet.

Room was nice, good shower and nice buffet, which was included.

The staff that greeted us were just okay. Every other place we stayed on our nine night trip seemed more welcoming to guests and engaging. Basically, they checked our name for registration and handed us a key. When asked about places to eat, since the location is not really within walking distant, the receptionist pointed to a few menus sitting on the counter, but offered no suggestions or seemed interested. Some places don’t seem to appreciate that we could have stayed on a dozen places nearby, but chose this one.

The hotel is a converted Milk Factory, with the rooms surrounding a central breakfast area. It is on the northern edge of Hofn, a bit out of town, but we liked the peaceful setting. We had a room on the north side with a beautiful view over farmland to glaciers in the distance. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but adequate with lovely very hot water in the shower.. Lovely friendly welcome at reception, excellent recommendation for dinner downtown and breakfast was good.

The exterior of the hotel could use a coat of paint but otherwise, I couldn’t fault this hotel. It is excellent. For the hotel’s information, we are from Australia. Booking.com stupidly continues to say HongKong in the published review even though the Preview says Australia.

Breakfast was very nice with enough options to suit every palate. It was a continental breakfast - so no hot food. But there's a lot of other stuff available. There's a fancy coffee machine that makes you all kinds of good coffee, and it's available all the time. There's always a kettle and tea bags available all the time as well. In peak season you may want to consider going earlier or later than the usual 'standard' breakfast time as it can get a bit busy and unfortunately some people (guests) are selfish and take entire plates of tomato slices just for themselves. Yes - this actually happened to us. People will be people. The staff are fantastic. Very accommodating and very polite. The facilities are quite nice and very clean - so no issues there. The communal area has ample seating - more than enough for the amount of rooms they have. It's open all the time (although I think there's a quiet time cut off after a certain time because there are rooms that run along the corridors on either side of the lounge area). The building is about a 15 min walk into town if you don't want to drive. We walked most of the time because it's easier and you can have a drink or two. Our room was accessed from the outside of the main building - Room #101. It's a lovely, spacious room with a double bed, sofa/seating area, massive bathroom with rainfall shower, smart decor and views of the front and side. The side window has views of the field next door with the sweetest horses. It's a very quiet location and it's really cool the way they've decorated the communal area with photos of the old milk factory that used to be there. Complete with lab coats and white boots! There's ample free parking in the parking area just out front of the building - very handy. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay there again next time we're in Iceland and in the Hofn area.

The only thing I would say - and this is more of a recommendation than something I didn't like - is that they should consider putting a little gate or something to stop people walking across the area outside of room #101 and just either sitting there on the wall smoking or chatting, etc. That area is for that room and there were 3 separate occasions I had to tell people that they were standing outside our bedroom window smoking and asked them to leave. If the hotel put a little gate where the ramp is to go to the room, it would stop people from disturbing anyone in room 101. Just a minor suggestion.

Breakfast was included. It was pretty good. The room was very spacious. Tall ceiling, big beds, 2 spaces for each bed, tall big windows. Clean. Warm. Quiet. If in Hofn, we would stay at the Milk Factory again, for sure.

I would have liked a bit of insight on why the place is called The Milk Factory, you could tell there's some history about the place but, there wasn't much information anywhere. There were old photographs on the walls and that's it. Even so, we really enjoyed our stay, and I should have asked the guy at reception about the history of the place instead of writing a review. Too late now. Thanks

Beds were comfortable. Standard breakfast with hot and cold items starting at 7:30. Plenty of room for everyone in the dining area - which you need if you want to hang out with your traveling partners as definitely not enough room in your own room. Checkin/check out was simple and easy. I had requested 2 rooms near each other (thinking it was like a large hotel) and they were apologetic in that we were on opposite sides of the hallways but the layout was so small it really didn't matter at all. Also, we were interested in going to Otto for dinner and we asked the reception guy if they took reservations. He noted that they did not and also told us that we should try to go before 6:30pm. His rec was spot on as we arrived at 6:30 and snagged one of the few remaining tables. The restaurant was small and the food was delicious.

Room was a bit cramped and there wasn't much space to move around - so, not a lot of room to hang wet clothes, or even to open carry on size suitcases. Also, though there was a desk/chair if you sat in it your partner would not be able to move across the room except to go over the bed. This was fine given that you spend most of your time outdoors exploring and by the time you get back to your room you are so exhausted you just need to go to sleep!

Loved our stay here! In our room, there was a bottom level with a double bed and stairs up to a loft with a second double bed. It can get hot in the loft, but they provided a fan that fixed the issue for us. The bathroom/shower was also very nice with lots of space and no sulfur smell of the water. There is a mini-fridge in the room, but no other kitchen items. The breakfast was delicious! Breads, meat, cheese, fruit, skyr, juices, and 24/7 access to a coffee machine. It backs up to a horse farm, and the horses were quite curious and friendly.

There is a small side table with a chair, but our group of four wished there was more a communal space for playing cards, etc. We could have used the tables in the breakfast area, but was looking for something a little more private.

Loved the mezzanine second bedroom setup. Was worked so well being a group of 3. Room was lovely, clean, new. The dining in the Centre of building with bedroom running off the outside walls works so well. Breakfast was very good compared to other we had. A bit of road noise, not much privacy as on a corner of 2 roads, but this didn’t bother us at all as the blinds were in excellent condition. Best of all the beds were heaven!!!

Nothing! For the price it was value for money and extremely comfortable to boot! Would look forward to staying there if we ever travelled Iceland again. Highly recommended!!
