Sylvia Hotel & Resort Komodo

Bright room with big window and huge bed, great property, very accommodating and helpful staff. We stayed for a week, only interrupted by a Komodo tour for a couple of nights (hence the same review twice), because we had to wait for our visa extension. We could not have chosen a better place for hanging out and relaxing. The wifi was excellent, which was great for further travel organisation and catching up with what had happened in the world since we were on the run.

We were initially allocated a room with just frosted windows and a stinky toilet, but when I complained, we were immediately given a nicer room with view over the property and to the ocean (and no smells 😄). Thus this was actually something we did like. The resort is a long way from the Labuan Bajo tourist strip, but the shuttle bus helped with that. Still, if we had only stayed a couple of nights, we would have probably preferred somewhere closer to town.

Location is excellent. Ten minutes out of town and away from the noise of the mosque. Lovely long beach which was great for swimming on high tide. We stayed in the Premier Rooms which had big, comfortable and clean bedding. There is a renovation happening for the beachside bungalows. Some were already completed. I wish we'd stayed there as it is closer to the beachfront and probably a bit quieter. The sunset is fantastic!! Our thanks to Patris who recommended the East Cruise Komodo day trip to the islands. We had a great day snorkeling and visiting Komodo.

The restaurant menu needs a total upgrade including the takeaway breakfast pack which was totally horrible and unedible. There is not much choice for Westerners. No chargeback facility to the room. The beach needs to be cleaned regularly as there was so much plastic and litter washed up. We even did a clean up of it to get rid of all the plastic!! Small bathroom. Noisy neighbours (but that's not their fault). There is a bus service to and from town operated by the hotel and at the time of making the booking no mention was made that it is not a free service. This is found out on checkout. It’s not the cost but the lack of communication.

The staff was very friendly. The rooms were very clean. The beach and the garden were beautiful.

There was a big problem with the check-in. The staff at the reception was not able or don't want to accept my Credit Card ( normal international Mastercard ). We need to make a Wise Transaction. This was a very bad experience because on the website is written that Mastercard is accepted. The second point which was bad was that the rooms were not ready at 2:00 pm. We had booked three rooms and no one was ready. May be the reason were the problems during check in with the credid card...

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel especially after reading the mixed reviews prior We checked in after a 4 day boat trip and we loved the beachside cottage with a great view. It is a large place with a couple of pools and various places to lounge along the beach so it never seemed busy or crowded. Our room 3 was clean and spacious with seating outside, however the toilet seat was not fixed properly Staff were all very friendly and we enjoyed our couple of days relaxing at the end of our holiday

The food and drink menu was very limited which seems like such a miss as the hotel is quite remote and they have little competition so having more options such as a full bar etc would make sense. The pizza was fairly average but I enjoyed some of the Indonesian food on their menu, but they could do with side notes in English to explain what they are

The location is beachfront , very nice clean white sandy beach and no waves… makes it nice to just swim around on the beach shore. I rent a canoe for only 50 thousand rupiah, and can go further where the corrals are pretty with alot of fishes that you can see without even needing to snorkel. The speedboat we rent can pick us up directly at the hotel beachfront.

Toilet was broken twice , unable to flush however the staff were quick to respond and fix it. Food options are limited, breakfast also basic. Bed linen can be cleaner.

Wow what an excellent place to stay, we were in a Seaview room only metres from the beach. I highly recommend this place, two swimming pools only a few metres from our room. The staff are very friendly and only too happy to help with anything. We had a couple off wee problems with our aircon which is unforeseeable, but honestly if you want to get away and just relax this is it, oh if you drink spirits be sure to bring them with you. It's excellent, try to use local people more so than big companies as they really need it. The pictures are take from sitting in my chair on the patio, Once again I highly recommend this place. We had aircon problems, but end of the day it's an unforeseeable problem and they came out and regased the unit that night.

Location is fantastic, Sylvia resort has its own bay with the most spectacular sunsets. Great for snorkeling. Has two swimming pools. Sylvia resort provides beach towels. Transport to Labuan bajo. Breakfast bar every day with lots of choice of what to eat. We slept in a mega bed, two other people could have fitted in between us. 😂

The toilet was behind the door, shower head was leaking and making a lot of noise. We did ask if that could be fixed but to no avail. The whole place is in need of TLC, the effects of the pandemic of two years no customers could be noticed.

Staff is very kind, friendly and helpful, starting from the driver, and staff in the restaurant, breakfast is very good, but plastic waste on the beach along the hotel area please pay attention because it is very important for us together. and there are lots of cute and very beautiful cats

Room is not cleaned every day, we stayed 3 nights in room 16, and every time we wanted to enter the room the air in the room was too hot and had to wait for the ac to cool

The staffs are helpful and very polite. I checked from booking.com that there are availability and walked in without booking it. The staffs are very nice to wait for me to make the booking from booking.com in order to get the better rate that day. I took awhile and during this process and later when they checked me in, the staffs are very patient and polite. Great hospitality. The private beach is another plus point. The breakfast is not bad as well. The king size bed is huge.

The toilet is clean but somehow smells of sewage.
