We were given access to our room very early, so all those travelling with us could store their cases in our room, until theirs was ready, or they were able to transfer them to other accommodation they’d booked. In addition to this my 83 year old mother, who’d been travelling since 3.30am that morning, was able to take a rest in our room, before going to my nieces First Holy Communion. After the celebration we had a magnificent family meal together in the hotel, the food was brilliant, freshly made with amazing local produce. The receptionists were welcoming, accommodating and kind at all times. The ladies who serviced the room were brilliant, respectful and caring, they made our stay very comfortable.

I have no complaints, the hotel was excellent and accommodated our every need.

The staff were wonderful, so accommodating. Nothing was too much bother. There was a group of 10 of us for dinner - some stayed in the hotel, some just came for dinner and all were welcomed and looked after by those in reception, the restaurant/bar. The housekeeping/maintenance team responded within minutes when we reported an issue in our room and it was remedied in minutes. The hotel is perfectly located for attending a show in the Royal Theatre.

The room I stayed in was at the front of the hotel facing the road so it was noisy at times especially as I like to keep the window open.

The food was excellent at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff were very good and we had a large bedroom with all the facilities you require.

I've stopped at The Ellison a number of times and the only thing I struggle with is it doesn't have any air conditioning. I know it might seem strange with the hotel being in Ireland but the bedrooms are really warm. They do provide fans but air con is definitely required.

The location is great - easy access to town, Lough Lannagh for a nice walk and the main roads to drive anywhere. The rooms are lovely and clean and the bed was very comfy. The staff were very friendly especially reception staff. The decor in the common areas is lovely too.

Since it's a 4 star hotel, a free bottle of water in the room would be nice. I don't like firm big pillows as they hurt my neck from being too high up so personally I prefer flatter pillows so a flat option in the room would be nice, though maybe they had some they could have given me if I rang reception about it, but I didn't. That is totally a personal preference though and I usually bring my own. The cost of snacks at the vending machine is quite high.

The breakfast was delicious, very hot and freshly cooked even though we were down at 10am. Evening meal was lovely and the waiting staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much bother for them.

The only fault I found was the lack of bar/lounge facilities. The dining room and bar etc were all in one but I supposed lack of space dictated that. The bedroom was good and spacious but ,typical of a lot of hotel beds, it was high and firm. Just a personal choice, I love a soft bed lol.

Fabulous receptionists, beautiful spacious and well equipped room, good coffee making facilities, easy access from secure under-cover parking and spotlessly clean.

During extreme weather fans in the rooms would be a good idea. Hôtel parking did not cater for motorbikes (and comes down whilst you are still underneath). Restaurant food was very limited. Tasty, but small choice eg. No salads available.

room was very nice clean spacious. All Staff very efficient and friendly. Food fresh delivered to the room when required which was very tasty, as was breakfast.

Quite expensive as Castlebar was busy that weekend due to the Miss Ireland pageant final being held. Room was exceptionally hot with no aircon and the window opening just a fraction for safety reasons, I presume, one needed a key pass to enter each floor so if family members were staying on another floor one had to go out to the corridor to allow them in constantly. Quite annoying tbh.

on arrival the staff were very welcoming, the breakfast was very good always cooked well and hot, the service was great, good welcome to the restaurant in the morning staff always seemed happy. Our bedroom was very clean, we had a twin room one double and single bed, single bed moved as it was on wheels but comfortable. Bathroom shower could've been better as it was too high and over wetted the flooring. The bathroom extras (soap, shampoo) were very nice and smelt good Our evening meal was exceptional especially the chowder - that good we had it once as a starter and then the next day as a main.. complemented the head chef who we met on a night out! In all our 4 day stay was one of the best, the staff are wonderful from housekeeping, waiting staff, reception and the bar staff absolutely recommend this hotel

The shower, the only thing everything else was great.

Very comfortable with friendly staff & lovely food in their Siar restaurant

I stayed one night and in the morning, discovered that the shower was scalding hot! The taps only turned 90 degrees, so regulating the heat was impossible. Very scary & uncomfortable. I had to continue my ablutions at the handbasin! I told the staff at reception and they said they would correct that. Otherwise it was a lovely place to stay.

Checkout reception staff friendly. Bar staff professional. Room (suite) was great. Water provided in room. Dinner great. Car parking good. Breakfast good. Plenty of choice. Not crowded. Could have done without piped music!

Restaurant staff were slow to greet and seat us when we arrived and had to be prompted to do so by the bar person (female).
