We really liked ‘Il Giardino Segreto”. For us there are 3 things – all beginning with ‘P’ – which are important. ‘P’osition; Il Giardino is a hidden gem of a quiet location and very well placed for all 4 districts of old Cagliari. There are many restaurants and bars within a 10 minute stroll. ‘P’eople; Maurizio and Sylvia are friendly and very helpful. They want their guests to have an enjoyable time in Il Giardino, in Cagliari, and in Sardinia. They have guidebooks and pamphlets in many languages. ‘P’roperty; the pictures tell you all. It has delightful décor. We were in the ‘Camera Del Melograno’ with a view into, yes, a secret garden. Our room was always spotless when we returned in the evening. Breakfast includes home-baked cakes and bread, fruit, and home-made yoghurt & jams. So – overall : 11 out of 10 !

This was a very sweet family guest house with four ensuite rooms and a communal dining room. Run by a local couple who cannot do enough for you. The guest house is literally two roads away from the centre with all it's bars and restaurants but due to being in a courtyard the rooms are very quiet. The rooms are clean and comfortable with all you would need. Breakfast is the traditional Italian sweet variety and all home made by the hostess. We would go back.

There was nowhere you could sit out in the sun and read a book if you wanted an at home day. Just the way that the accommodation is designed. Despite this we would stay again.

Let's start with the fact that I really liked this guesthouse - and part of that may have been the friendliness and conversations we had with the owner-couple. Just great people and very interesting. When first getting there, it seems to be in a sort of odd location, but once you get a handle on Cagliari, it is right in the middle of everything and an easy walk to just about any place you want to be. We did not pay for the breakfast, but were directed to a nice little cafe around the corner that was very reasonable. The lobby, common areas and rooms are all very clean and comfortable. The beds are typical for Sardinia - fairly comfortable. In general, I felt the value for the room to be very reasonable. I would not hesitate to stay here again. And in fact, one of the people we were traveling with tried to get another room on her layover in Cagliari, but they were full.

A warm welcome, despite the fact that we arrived well before midday. The hosts are brilliant and so helpful. We had a large, clean room with en suite shower, etc., and everything we needed including Wi-Fi. Breakfast was an extra, but was wonderful with home made bread, cake, marmalade and fresh, organically grown fruit. I am coeliac and I had my own gluten free breakfast provided, including home made g/f cake. Perfect. The location is fairly central, but incredibly quiet.

This place really is an oasis in the centre of the city. Ideally located just 5 minutes walk from the bus and train stations, with plenty of restaurants and bars just around the corner. But so quiet and peaceful! The hosts are absolutely charming and the building is excellently designed and quality construction. Without a doubt I would recommend and return.

Our room was perfect for the hot weather - cool and shady and mosquito-proof :). There are other rooms which have outdoor space which would be handy for hanging towels and swimsuits to dry.

The location was excellent, right in the middle of the vibrant hub of the city. The owners couldn't have been nicer, they were more than happy to advise and offer recommendations.

It wasn't an issue for us but being on the main pedestrian street with bars and restaurants it could be lively and noisy.

I stayed at the Giardino Segreto for a week. It was absolutely fantastic under all aspects. This is the first time I am missing the place at which I stayed. Sylvia is adorable and the perfect icon of a Mamma Sarda: the place is kept clean and quiet and Sylvia is serving an Italian home-made breakfast at the desired time. Warm bread and local jam on the menu. That's probably one of my best memories of Sardinia. The room setting and decoration is very thoughtful with traditional Sardinian bedheads and curtains. Other than this, the location is perfect, right in the center of Cagliari but in a quiet street. 5 mins walking from all the bars, patios and restaurants. The train station is 10 mins walking. As a true Sarda, Sylvia offers valuable info and recommendations regarding where to go and what to see.

Street parking was a nightmare.

The hosts were very friendly and gave excellent advice about the best things to do in Cagliari. The room is located in the very center but the window and the nice balcony are in direction to a quiet area. The value for money is absolutely great. We enjoyed the stay and come back at any time we are again in Cagliari :-)

Mauricio and his wife are perfect hosts, they give a lot of good advice and are mindfull of your well-being. The room is comfortable, there is even a balcony where you can hang the beach towels ! This place is very well located, in the historical center.

Property was very beautiful, comfortable and very good location. Lots of restaurants and shops outside the apartment, yet it was very quiet inside. close to train station. The host was extremely friendly and helpful!
