The location of Hotel Centrum is truly unbeatable. It offers easy access to all the major attractions, shops, and restaurants in the city. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a frequent traveler to Catania, you'll appreciate the convenience of being able to explore the city on foot. The room was impeccably clean, and the comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. One of the highlights of my stay at Hotel Centrum was the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. They went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was nothing short of perfect. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options and fresh coffee, It was a great way to start the day, and the attentive staff made sure that everything was well stocked and maintained. In terms of value for money, Hotel Centrum exceeded my expectations. from the hotel we also commuted by bus to Taormina and Syracuse which is short , smooth and affordable drive that takes you to the center of each city, 10 min walk from city center .

A charming owner/manager who has travelled extensively and speaks fluent English. There was no problem about storing our baggage as we arrived several hours before check-in . The hotel is located mid-way between the central train/bus station and Via Etna (the main walking street) and is easy to find. An airport Alibus shuttle stop is about 80 metres away. The room was quiet and air conditioned. The hotel presents a fine buffet breakfast with many choices of delicious pastries.

The hotel was in a great location. The room was very spacious and had a rooftop terrace. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean and there were lovely toiletries in the bathroom(s). The breakfast buffet had a wonderful variety of foods. The staff in this hotel were the best I have come across. Very friendly, polite and helpful. The reception staff were very informative about the area and always willing to offer any advice whether it be about travel, local restaurants or local events. Paola, the owner, went out of her way to get me medical advice when I took ill. It was thanks to Paola that I made a speedy recovery. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to visit Catania.

Hotel Centrum is a lovely hotel located near the train station. There is also a bus stop round the corner which will take you back to Catania airport for only €4. The staff are very nice, welcoming & helpful. My double room was lovely.. The room had air conditioning, a nice bathroom with a lovely shower. The bed was comfortable. There was a tv with some international tv channels. The breakfast consisted of a buffet with lots of choices- fruits, eggs, meat, breads, cereals etc... The room had a small balcony with a beautiful view & nice sunsets. The old center with the Duomo is a 10mns walk away. If you are in Catania for a couple of days, like I was, I would really recommend going up the dome of St Agatha's church. The view is stunning & if you go at the right time you can also see a wonderful sunset. If like me, you fancy a sea swim- there is a Lido by the train station where you can soak up the sun & have a sea swim. As a solo traveller, I felt safe in the neighbourhood. The only negative experience was when I arrived from Siracusa to Catania train station, a few men came to see me to ask if I needed a taxi. Turned out they are not real taxi drivers. I saw one of them taking people in his own car. In the end I walked from the station to Hotel Centrum & it was not too long a walk.

As mentioned in another review, what I did not like was the lack of communication from Booking. In July I received an email which looked legit. I was asked to enter my card details in order to confirm my booking. It turned out that the message was not from the hotel but hackers who got access to my details. Very luckily my bank blocked the transaction. If the hackers had access my bank account, I would have lost at least £450. I tired to get in touch with booking via Twitter but had not response back! I also read about people who had the same experience. I have been using Booking for several years. However in the light of what happened, I will no longer do so.

The location was great being a short wander to all the cities attractions and close enough to the port to get the prevailing breeze which was a godsend in the hot sticky weather. Staff were great, very attentive and helpful. They had secure parking, although it was traditionally Sicilian being a tight squeeze. A jeep managed it just. Very good facility. Aircon was perfect and worked well, bed comfortable and shower pressure was great. Well stocked rooms and breakfast buffet was the best we had in Sicily!

There was nothing to dislike about Hotel Centrum... it was the perfect place to base ourselves whilst exploring the city.

A lovely boutique hotel with an amazing innkeeper, Paola, and an equaling impressive staff. My room was completely comfortable and had just about everything I needed. And the view from my room was perfect – classic Italian rooftops. Loved it! They even provided housekeeping service every day – and without having to ask! I certainly don’t see that much these days. Concierge service was very good, too. And the daily breakfast hit all the marks: hot products, cold products, fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice, coffee, espresso, prosciutto crudo on the bone, pastries, etc. The location is perfect – city center just around the corner from Teatro Massimo, but quiet – and I was there over New Year’s Eve. If I’m ever back in Catania, this will be my go-to hotel. Paola, if you read this, THANK YOU, for helping to make my stay in Catania so enjoyable and memorable.

The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with a nice selection of cooked and raw ham, salami, cheeses, fruits and especially good choice of cakes and other sweets. Of course also yoghurt, muesli etc. were available. Freshly brewed coffee from the espresso machine was also served. The location is ideal for experiencing all of the city's attractions (churches, markets, museums, archaeological sites) just by walking. When arriving from the airport, the place is less than 10 min walk from bus stops (either Piazza di Martiri or Central Station). There are also many good restaurants and bars in the vicinity, with one of the best fish restaurants of Catania just around the corner. The room had all the usual amenities and of a decent minibar. However, the fridge was also big enough to cool drinks bought outside. All members of staff were friendly and helpful. Arriving on an early morning flight at around 9h, I was just wanted to ask them to store my luggage. I was then particularly pleased when I was told my room would be ready by 11h, which it was. So I had the chance for a rest following a first walk through the city. Altogether this was a very nice experience. While I was travelling alone this time, I would also recommend this place to couples.

Having to leave on a relatively early flight, I asked for a taxi to be arranged and was told there would be a fixed price. However, when I entered the taxi, the driver had the taxameter running. While the final price was roughly in the region of what I had been quoted, I find this a bit odd. - However, since I had left my jacket, the driver had to return after we had not driven more than 200 m. The hotel alerted him to this. So this was good service after all.

I love this hotel. This is the second time I’ve stayed here and it’s clean, comfortable, quiet, peaceful, and inviting. Hotel Centrum has old-world charm and personality, which I love. The staff are professional, warm, friendly, and accommodating. They speak excellent English and make you feel very welcome. The breakfast is outstanding. The price is fair and the location is optimal. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else in Catania.

Only downside is that the room can get a bit too warm due, not to the weather, but to the thermostat.

Definitely go i santi for a pizza short walk from the hotel He also helped book trip to Etna for us, which was brilliant as picked up from hotel by guide.. Would definitely return

Only thing we would of liked was a kettle in room to make a cup of tea but it didn't spoil our experience

We chose this hotel because of its location and it didn’t disappoint. Very safe location plus you have to be let in by reception so no one just wandering in and out. The day time receptionist was very welcoming and marked out a map for us with places of interest to visit. Evening receptionist again very welcoming & recommended some eating establishments of which one of them we dined at and it was just perfect. The said same evening receptionist was also on 1st thing for breakfast duty & was Very helpful with some questions we asked and was very quick with our checkout. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
