The staff are great including the ladies on reception as well as Giacomo and Antonio. The breakfast is superb with everything you could ask for.The location is excellent but visitors should not be put off by the rather run down area to the right of the entrance. It is not worrying at all either during the day or evening - it is just a bit of a contrast to what you might be used to if you have stayed previously in the north of Italy.Via Etnea is a 5 minute walk away, station 10 minutes and Corso Sicilia just across the way ( with a superb Italian supermarket next to Lidl). Same goes for Metro stop - Stesorico.Incidentally Catania is great - lots of good places to eat, beautiful public gardens, nice shopping, friendly people and slower pace of life than eg Rome. That is before you factor in the proximity of Syracuse - a gem - and Taormina - commercialised yes but also fun. ps Aircon/heating in hotel excellent

Not much at all but the bedrooms should at this level of cost have at least a kettle and a few cups/mugs to make a cup of tea or coffee - every other 4* hotel we have stayed at has provided this facility although to be fair we were told this before we came . The bedrooms are also very minimalist/ almost Scandinavian which is matter of taste and a contrast to typical dark wood and heavy drapes of many Italian hotels.

Wow, incredible - Giacomo was wonderfully helpful and welcoming at reception, giving us lots of great and tailored tips for our trip around Sicily. His smooth Sicilian charm buttered us up like freshly baked baps! An unforgettable terrace experience thanks to the unparalleled service from Antonio - offering the worlds best aperol spritzes accompanied by a smorgasbord of delectable treats. I still have dreams about that mozzarella!!

Decor was a bit quirky, wifi was a struggle in some rooms.

The staff was extremely friendly and polite, always available to answer any questions and providing advice on what to visit and which restaurants to go to. Also upgraded my room so I had more space and a bigger bed so made it more of a luxurious stay for me. The mattress was amazing, definitely helped me to be full of energy for excursions and visiting the city during the day. Loved the breakfast, as a wide range of fresh products were provided: prosciutto, mozzarelline, mortadella, fresh ACE and grapefruit juice. Also several types of mono portion jams (marmellata) were on the table, nutella, peanut butter to spread on toast or fette biscottate. Always prompt to prepare hot drinks such us cappuccinos during breakfast. Cherry on top - pistacchio, lemon or chocolate granita was given to guests during breakfast.

Since my room was facing the interior of the building (where the reception was), sometimes it got noisy due to guests arriving late at night however it was not a major issue for me. The curtains were not fitted completely correctly as one of them was leaning incorrectly and there were a space which made it possible to see from outside and since my room was on the interior of the building, it made it feel less private.

Great breakfast, comfortable bed, quick and easy walk to the town centre. Staff were especially amazing - when my flight was re-routed to Palermo last minute, I believe it was Martina who helped me - she was exceptional and went above and beyond in sorting my transport for early in the morning

While the location is good for getting to the town centre quickly, if you’re going towards the bus station/train station in the late evening/night it feels a bit dodgy so would try and avoid that area if going alone

Good "regular" breakfast - nothing special, a typical "hotel" breakfast, rather limited. choice of dishes, but all of them were tasty and fresh. Great location of the hotel compensates for everything.

Guests with less than 160 cm I guess face very serious difficulties with living in the hotel rooms - e.g., all hangers for clothes are located at least 180 cm in height. There are no mirrors in the room at all (only a small mirror in the bathroom). There are no hangers for towels in the bathroom near the wash basin. The equipment in the washroom is a bit obsolete. But, as I mentioned, great location of the hotel and hospitality of the stuff compensates for everything.

The reception team and the bar manager were excellent and could not have been more helpful. They were a credit to a very nice hotel. The location was also excellent despite dirty streets and too much graffiti .

wi fi signal poor throughout the Hotel ' When we arrived we were allocated a room which had ground floor bedroom and first floor bathroom which was not our chosen facility. We ended up paying for an up grade for all but one day of our stay and then were allocated exactly what we wanted at the outset.

Staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. Parking location was nearby and convenient. The hotel is located within walking distance of the main tourist attractions and there are lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The room was huge and comfortable. The hotel barman makes a mean Aperol Spritz!

A minor thing but the room was a little dark which is great when you’re sleeping but could do with some additional lighting for during the evening.

location, architecture/decor of the building/house, room size, reception and staff. the bar and the bar keep Antonio was wonderful.

the room furniture need upkeep, possibly replacement. Bed could do without the four poster paraphernalia. Could do with a coffee machine in the room for early morning departures. Given that it rains suddenly and the front of the entrance gets a river of water, hotel could plan for a few planks for guests not to get ankle deep in water- after which drying shoes becomes a huge problem!

Romano House Hotel is beautiful. Lovely bedroom and bathroom, delicious and plentiful breakfast and lovely, friendly staff. Sabrina and Giacomo on reception were super friendly and helpful re sightseeing, places to visit, best restaurants etc and Antonio, sommelier and bar manager of the rooftop terrace was also just so lovely. It's a small hotel and the staff seem like a family, so a really nice atmosphere. Will be coming back to stay without a doubt.

The area is a bit grotty. Lots of rubbish lying around and graffiti. Not the hotel's fault obviously, more down to the council in Catania. Other than that, it was just wonderful.

design of the hotel is amazing, breakfast very nice. waiters during the breakfast very good. the room was absolutly clean and very functional. sound protect is excelent!

at the recepcion staff very polite but totally unusefull to give any kind of practical information about the city like city buses or even to recomend the beach. it is not only to call a taxi and check in. some extra hungers are necessary! the neighborhood seems very deserted and at times unpleasant
