I really liked this place! The rooms are large, very clean and modern design furnished, the breakfast was buffet type with quality products to choose from! The staff was very friendly. Antonia, the young lady from the reception spoke Romanian and helped us with the accommodation, with valuable information about the places to visit and recommendations for restaurants to book. The owner was also very nice and you could see that he pays attention to all the details to make the guests feel comfortable. I highly recommend Le Origini!

Travelled as family of 4 and booked one room. The room was great, spacious and clean with very nice beds. The breakfast was very nice. Local produced food, eggs cooked on the spot and the handmade sbriciolata cake was very good. People at the property were great answering any question clearly and with courtesy.

If you travel by car the hotel is in a limited access area and you get fined if you drive through. The facility did warn us the evening before but had no wi fi at the time. It would have been good to have a clear warning on the site and maybe an explanation a bit earlier to prepare better for this.

Very nice hotel just outside the “Sassi” so the ZTL area. Very big room with the view over the “altopiano”. Breakfast was also very nice with fresh products. The Staff was very nice, if you contact them in advance they can also reserve for you a parking space just outside the “Sassi” for the night.

I think we got a “family room” so additionally to the double bed there were two single bed. We put our bags and clothes on them but we found out they were not clean and full of dogs hair.

Extremely helpful owners who went out of their way to provide information without being in any way intrusive. Character room set into the rock which was cool so in June even though it was 30 degrees plus we could sleep without the aircon. Prime position overlooking Matera and available parking. Superb homemade cakes for breakfast in addition to fresh fruit and local specialities.

The only thing I can think of would be a couple of hooks in the room to hang towels.

We were greeted by Savirio who kindly came running to help direct us to the carpark which was situated in a little lane when we were lost on our way to the hotel. The hotel staff (Antonia) were communicative and responsive via WhatsApp prior to our arrival. The view outside the hotel is beautiful and simply breathtaking. Very convenient location. The breakfast was awesome and had a good spread. The restaurant that was recommended was very near to the hotel and served great food.

The location was very nice. Also the parking was great, we got a spot in the garage which was perfect since we were traveling by a motorbike. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very beautiful, we could enjoy the cool room in a very hot day plus the jacuzzi.

When we arrived we left our luggage on the floor and in the morning when we left, the luggage was full of ants.. literally full of ants. That was truly unpleasant. At the check out we informed the receptionist that they have an ants situation and they asked if we had food in the luggage…which of course we didn’t.

Antonia was very helpful and lovely. Clean rooms, great shower and big bathroom, short 2 min walk to the car park and great location for the sassi barisone. Good aircon, much needed in July. Also close to Matera’s best restaurant Materami. The modern town of Matera is beautiful but quiet a walk over the hill. A bit far when the heat is very extreme like it was during our July visit. Lovely breakfast.

This was my FAVORITE hotel on a 3 month stay in Italy. Wow. The view from the hotel was breathtaking as you can see in the photo I’ve added to the review. The couple that operates the hotel is a delight. Attentive and went above and beyond. We were greeted with a lovely welcome beverage. Our room was spotless and lovely. The breakfast was the BEST I had in Italy. Fresh pastries made by the owner, beautiful breads, eggs to order, and more. They made special gluten free cakes for my friend who has celiacs. She cried it was so good. She said it was one of the best gluten free pastries she’d ever had. The hotel was amazing and I can’t wait to come back.

It is a great place to stay in Matera. The hosts were exemplary, in the evening when we arrived we were greeted by two nice ladies who gave us a map of Matera, showed us the points of interest and the good restaurants in the area. The next morning at breakfast (which was delicious) we had another host who explained to us the options and details that we have for breakfast and at check-out gave us some hints for our next destination. The location, although it is a little bit at the edge of Matera-old-town is quiet and relaxed.
