Everything. You have to have dinner on the terrace. The lady who serves you is one of the best waiters I've ever experienced. She couldn't do enough and the food was amazing. You don't get many staff like her.

The location of the hotel is exceptional—just steps away from Saint Peter’s Basilica and within close proximity to all major attractions. The staff were consistently helpful and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile, with special recognition to Fabio and Jhay for their outstanding service. The hotel was impeccably clean and well maintained, contributing to a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the offerings from the mini bar were equally impressive. The kitchen staff were courteous and hospitable throughout my visit. I sincerely appreciated the warm hospitality and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome and the Vatican.

This hotel was perfect for our first nights in Italy! This was my parents first time in Italy and my Dad can't walk well because of a previous illness, so being close to the Vatican was a must for us for the tour. This is literally on the Vatican's steps and was so close to everything we wanted to do. We also loved that breakfast is served early at 7 AM so that we could book an early tour of the Vatican. The breakfast has a lot of offerings as well which we enjoyed.

The only con would be the AC in the room. Even though it appears that you would have full control over how hot or cold the room is, the thermostat only goes so far. We were a bit sweaty at night to be honest.

I couldn't have been closer to the Vatican. It was a 15-second stroll to the side entrance to the square. It was safe, clean, friendly, and welcoming. I will stay there again and I'll recommend it to family. The food was good, prices were more than reasonable, and the included breakfast had something for everyone and plenty of it. The terrace dining was a pleasure. 5 minutes from the Vatican post office (the way out of St. Peter's) found me at the entrance. And that at a stroll. This hotel is literally right there. A complete relief after all day walking. The Vatican museums were on the other side of the square, but not that far away. The Castle was a lovely morning walk straight away from the square. Even I didn't manage to get lost. And there is a wonderful little public garden where everyone brought the pups for meet and greet.

My small single room was plenty big enough for moving around and packing/unpacking. The cabinets for hanging/storing items were sufficient unless you brought the kitchen sink. The shower in my room was a small corner unit. If you are a large person, you will want a room with a full shower. The rest of the bathroom was just fine.

From start to finish, both the reception and breakfast staff exceeded all expectations, ensuring we felt warmly welcomed and thoroughly comfortable throughout our stay. Wonderful stay at Residenza Paolo VI! The location is unbeatable—just steps away from St. Peter’s Basilica, which was perfect for our elderly mother. We were able to attend Mass and a papal audience, making the experience truly special. The breakfast was very good, the reception staff were warm and helpful, and the cleanliness of the toilet was excellent. They even added a stool in the bathroom. The Terrace restaurant offers breathtaking views of St. Peter’s, adding to the charm of the stay. However, we’d suggest a couple of improvements: adding coffee or a kettle in the rooms for added convenience and enhancing the food quality at the Terrace restaurant. Overall, a fantastic experience that we’d highly recommend!”

A beautiful small hotel in a location adjacent to Saint Peter’s. Suberb staff at all levels: front desk, restaurant/bar, breakfast room and housekeeping. Very nice room with comfort bed, good ventilation and A/C and lighting. Exceptionally clean bathroom. Beautiful hallways. Heartily recommended. Dining is adequate, with some tasty dishes, especially since there are no nearby restaurants. Good hours for breakfast and dinner. Front desk is very, very helpful with taxis and ticketing.

Great location. Staff courteous and helpful; the reception helped us upgrade our room, organise a takeaway breakfast, and ordered taxi as well as helpful information on getting about town. The restaurant staff was excellent - especially Juliana. Even the room cleaning staff was courteous. Breakfast very good and enjoyed the roof terrace in the evening.

Nothing of note. The shower head holder wouldn’t grip the supporting pole (room 118 ) but we managed anyway. A minor inconvenience which we didn’t bother to report to reception.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Residenza Paolo VI, and it exceeded all my expectations. The location is absolutely unbeatable—just a stone’s throw away from St. Peter's Square, making it the perfect base for exploring the Vatican and Rome’s many attractions. The building itself is lovely, exuding a historic charm that fits perfectly with its surroundings. Inside, the rooms were comfortable, and I was particularly impressed with the air conditioning, which was a lifesaver during the warm summer days. The highlight of my stay was the incredible view from the terrace. Watching the sunset over St. Peter’s Basilica while enjoying a drink was an experience I’ll never forget. Speaking of drinks, the bartender was fantastic—super professional, friendly, and truly made our trip special with his exceptional service. The food at Residenza Paolo VI was also top-notch. We decided to have dinner at the hotel one evening, and it was an excellent choice. The dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. I highly recommend dining in at least once during your stay. Overall, Residenza Paolo VI offers the best location in the Vatican with superb amenities and service. It’s a place I would gladly return to on my next visit to Rome.

Location location location, worth the stay just for the terrace. The hotel is quite beautiful and lovely. If you are not brand new to the city and know what's what and are not going to be relying on the staff for help, then this hotel is fabulous.

The front reception staff were not as helpful as one would expect at a hotel like this one. Instead of looking at things and really making sure people were looked after it seemed they wanted to just take the easy way out, no going the extra mile. As visitors to a city hotel guests rely on the local knowledge of the hotel they are staying at. We were no different. It ended up costing us quite heavily for missed tours that were paid for in advance because they didn't read the documents, just made assumptions. When trying to get a taxi they basically said it wasn't possible. We got one using uber in a couple of minutes (yes you can get under in Italy it turns out - just don't use the taxi option). They should know these things and try harder.
