For me, Tuscany was better than I had dreamed of - the views, the food, the drink and the rustic medieval villages. I was looking for a peaceful B&B so that I can enjoy La Dolce Vita - sipping wine on a lazy afternoon, while looking at the magnificent views of a medieval town. And this B&B was perfect! This has one of the best views of San Gimignano, which you can enjoy while having breakfast or a drink from a very well maintained garden, thanks to Signor Mauro. And Francesca was one of the most delightful hosts I’ve ever met. She’s very enthusiastic and kind. You can spend an entire afternoon just listening to the stories about her life and her travels. And if you want to have the best food and the best gelato, listen to her suggestions! I had the best Steak of my life and I still can’t get over that - thanks to her suggestion. It’s a not flashy resort with a pool, but it was a peaceful B&B with amazing views and wonderful people. And was the highlight of my Italy trip. I’d definitely like to go back there soon enough.

The view from our room and the garden were wonderful. Francesca was a wonderful and welcoming host. She allowed to check-in early when we arrived earlier than scheduled, gave us some great tips for places to eat and visit in San Gimignano, and even gave us a ride up the steep hill into town so we could go visit! We did a pasta making class with her which was just so much fun, and we really enjoyed the hospitality. This is a great place to stay, visit San Gimignano and just relax and take in the beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside.

The entrance to town is a very steep climb up a long hill, but it wasn't a problem because someone from the B&B gave us a ride up each day, so we never had to climb it! It was super nice of them and we greatly appreciated it. Coming back it was quite easy as it was all downhill, and truly just a 5-minute walk. I mention this just in case there are visitors with mobility concerns, but it was no problem for us.

Francesca and Alessio hosted the most lovely B & B with sweeping views of the most stunning Tuscan landscape. The accommodations were comfortable and the a/c was in great working order. When we booked our stay initially it was for one night. But when we heard Andrea Bocelli was having a concert in his hometown, we extended our stay. The only glitch was our car rental plan from Bologna fell through. We had to take a train to San Gemignano. When we contacted Francesca to see about getting a taxi from the train station to her B & B (only ten minutes by car), she called several and couldn’t find availability. She explained that it is not typical but that she would pick us up!. We tried several taxi companies once we got settled and to no avail for our cooking class and concert for the next two nights. Apparently these must be booked well in advance during the tourist season. After the first night we explained to Francesca that we would try to sell the Bocelli tickets since we could not get transportation (it was also our anniversary). Francesca and Allesio surprised us with offering to drive us! It was worth the extra money she charged to get us around and we were so grateful! When we left, Francesca said to consider her as family in Italy. Having been to many small and large cities in Italy, this was by far the most beautiful place and experience we had! The walk to the Center was 10 minutes and very doable. Definitely recommend the breakfast for a small upcharge. There were breads, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, coffee, tea, and her Mother’s homemade sweets. Would give more stars if we could!!

Francesca was a super host, spoke very good English and was very helpful with suggestions for things to do in San Gimignano and Siena. The view of San Gimingiano from the garden of the property was amazing and as they offered breakfast in the garden it was a super experience. The food and drinks offered at breakfast were absolutely delicious and there were different options each day. This included home made cakes or pastries and also eggs, cold meats and other savoury items. We really liked being just outside and looking towards the town and it only took minutes to walk there.

This was the absolute highlight of our holiday. Francesca and Mauro were so friendly and welcoming, and gave us loads of great suggestions about the local area (and beyond for our onward journey!). We felt truly looked after, and although Francesca speaks excellent English she was very encouraging and patient with my bad Italian :) The room was very large with lots of storage, a comfortable bed and a large bathroom with a good shower. However you won't want to spend much time in the room because the real high point of Il Fienile is the garden with the stunning panoramic view of the San Gimignano skyline and the valley below. When the weather is good (which was practically every day) breakfast is served there so you can start the day with the great view, and we also spent several evenings out there watching the sun go down and enjoying the selection of excellent local wines they have. The B&B is about 10 minutes walk from San Gimignano so you have the double benefit of being close to the town but also being able to benefit from some peace and quiet and the lovely view. We will 100% stay again when we revisit Tuscany.

Honestly there's nothing we would improve, it was so lovely.

Stayed here in July. Francesca was an excellent host, friendly as ever. She gave us some very useful tips about visiting the surrounding area in Tuscany. We had a room with a view over San Gimignano which was just excellent. The room itself was very clean, with a fridge, comfortable bed and good bathroom. If we had any requests, Francesca and Mauro would aid us immediately! And the breakfast was splendid, very good value for money!

At some points the WiFi wasn't working or would be very slow. But we may have just been unlucky with the location of the room or it wasn't working on those particular days

Incredible stay at B&B Il Fienile! Mauro, Francesca and Mrs Mauro each warmly greeted us like family. They were ever welcoming to my friend and I! Our stay was very comfortable. The B&B is close to the Porta san Giovanni (if you are taking the bus into town from the train station in Poggibonsi) and down a hill. They kindly offered to pick us up at the bus stop with our bags. Very clean, quiet and spacious room and neat/clean bathroom; excellent and full breakfast with a beautiful view. Francesca and Mauro were super helpful for local tips and things to do (wine tasting, visiting Siena and San Gimignano, and restaurants to go to), as well as making pasta with them. The B&B is steps to San Gimignano were you can see the duomo, tower and museum. The tower has beautiful views of Tuscany! I would highly recommend this B&B for anyone coming to the region. We’ll be back someday!

The accommodation is authentic, part of an old farmhouse which has been simply refurbished to retain its Tuscan style. The room was pretty large with a comfortable bed, fridge and aircon. The bathroom was also a decent size with shower. Everything was sparklingly clean. There was also outside space with patios, gardens and car parking. Francesca spoke brilliant English and was very welcoming giving us lots of info and recommendations. She made lovely breakfasts with homemade treats and local specialities. The location was fabulous, a little over 5 mins walk into town and the view of the town from the garden where you have breakfast is stunning! We were also able to buy local wine and olive oil. We would definitely stay there again if visiting the area.

There was nothing we didn’t like

We stayed for 3 nights in this lovely house! The location is perfect- on a small , calm street, 3 minutes walk from Porta San Giovanni. There is a well stocked supermarket on the same distance. There is free parking in the yard. The garden is like a temple of colors and freshness - full with daisies, flowers and lemon trees! The room was spotless clean! Rustic and authentic elements and modern details at the same time. Bed was super comfy! They offer breakfast, which we didn't try, but I saw it ! Don't make my mistake- have a breakfast! It is so rich, fresh and looks great! You can have also coffee, cappuccino or wine during the day. In the morning, when you step in the fresh garden, first you hear the birds, then you feel the gentle wind and in the end you see the mighty towers of San Gimignano in all of its glory!!! Breathtaking and unforgettable view! And the most important - the Host! Francesca welcomed us as we were old friends! She made us feel like home, gave us excellent advices and tips and was always there to help us! Thank you sunny girl!! You made our vacation unforgettable! Tsvetan and Margarita

This was the best B&B we ever stayed at. Not only has it an amazing view (it seems almost unreal, like looking at a postcard) but it also has incredibly friendly hosts - Francesca and Mauro - who make sure you have everything you need and more. They welcomed us and our dog with open arms. The town of San Gimignano is just a 5 min walk away, so starting from there you are even closer than from the public parking lots. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is prepared with love so we can 100% recommend. If we could give more than 10 points, we would.
