Everything! The staff was unbelievable, always there to assist as needed! Silvia, Johnnie, all the staff were amazing! Very clean, quiet rooms; breakfast was great, and the building (an old post office) itself is beautiful! Our next stay in Ortigia will include staying at the Ortega Palace Hotel!

Very hard to find something we were not happy with, but if there was one small thing it would be that we could not seem to get our room cold enough. It was very hot in Ortigia in August and while our room was cool, it was never cold enough for us, no matter how low we set the AC.

After being well over Sicily ( Palermo -Mondelo, Scopelo, Cefalu) , Trapani ( and surroundings) , Agrigento ( and surroundings), Taormina-Naxos, Siracuse is first on our list . Not to be missed. Then you might choose this place to stay. Why? The hotel is very well located in Ortigia where everything happens.The staff is very professional yet delicate. Perfection. We were upgraded at arrival without asking for. How about that for a welcome reception. Room was quite large , had a great view of the harbor, was very clean and had all the conveniences one might expect from this type of property . Breakfast is so complete that takes time to decide on what to eat each day . A great hotel overall .

1. Sometimes there is no easy parking; . In an unfortunate day on my arrival I was not able to find a paying parking spot for over 20 minutes . The charge is 15 euros for 24 hs ( hotel charges 40 euros and parking is about 1 mile away) . 2. Shower area is very small compared to bathroom size (which even includes a separate bathtub) . 3. I was not aware of them not having an open swimming pool. A major drawback. 4. The breakfast is in an area where you come in and out of the elevators - not ideal , but after giving a little thought I does not seem to exist a better area due to the architectural design of the place

Beautiful clean and perfect location !! Fabulous staff—with Nicoletta, Conchetta and Anna at the front desk to help with reservations & sight seeing planning, Serena at breakfast each morning and Paola at the rooftop restaurant with an amazing guitarist serenading us!! Every staff person many whose names I do not know, was amazingly helpful and warm and friendly. They surprised us with an upgraded room with sea view and balcony, a bottle of sparkling wine and a birthday cake as they knew we were celebrating my 60th birthday. Nicoletta’s recommendations for restaurants and local beach was great! And Conchetta’s idea to do a private boat to the nearby sea caves was perfect! We will definitely be back to this hotel again if we return to Sicily!!

The hotel is magnificent. The position is right on the small harbour at the edge of the old city. The spa facilities are very impressive especially the pool. The old city itself is well worth strolling around and the cathedral is well worth a visit. The old columns from the 5th century Temple of Apollo have been incorporated into the Christian church! The room was small but adequate. The bar on the 3rd floor has amazing views and is well worth a visit however when we stayed it was only open on a Wednesday. I do not know if they make more of it in the summer months. The restaurant food in the evening was definitely fine dining.

Breakfast options were limited when compared to a UK restaurant of similar standard.

Beautiful hotel transformed from the post office. Breakfast was in stunning glass roofed atrium. Great breakfast choices too. Room was fabulous. Mezzanine bed and bath and separate shower and sitting room overlooking the port and sea. Sylvia on Reception was super helpful and breakfast staff were very attentive.

Spa area should be free to use for guests with charges only for treatments. Balcony terrace was not open to guests, apart from Wednesday evenings, which was disappointing as there was nowhere else to sit out.

the hotel was spectacular and in a perfect place. the front desk staff was so helpful. Sylvia and Maria were absolutely wonderful. we stayed in the duplex with a sea view, magnificent! The only complaint and the reason I didn’t give a 10 is that the air conditioning was almost non existent. there was no way to cool the room. it was probably around 80 degrees in the room. thank goodness Sylvia got us two fans. if they fix that, it would be a perfect 10.

Good location and really close to the center of Ortigia - very good breakfast, with large choice and fresh products. The room was quiet even if we found it a bit small but well equipped, clean with lovely attentions (welcome drinks, cakes, slippers, quality bath products etc...). It was a good choice and appreciated the kindness of the staff. Big parking in front of hotel and safe location for your car.

The size of the room was a bit small but ok for 2 nights only. The temperature of the breakfast room was really to cold and it was unpleasant.

Excellent breakfast. The staff is very polite, efficient, helpful and will fix problems in a very short time. Beautiful hotel, very convenient location to visit the historic centre of Siracusa.

We had a couple of problems in our room - the safe and the shower weren't working properly. They were soon fixed but rooms in a 5 star hotel with that cost should be reviewed more carefully.

The hotel is in a converted post office, so the rooms are quite large. The queen bed was comfortable and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Every person with whom we dealt on the staff was friendly and professional, and all spoke English well enough so we had no trouble communicating. We had two bathrooms in our suite, a larger one downstairs and a smaller one upstairs.

The configuration of the room was odd. It was a "split level", with a bedroom and bath up a flight of 15 stairs and a sitting room and bath on the "ground floor", where the TV and closets were. As a result of this configuration, it was hard to keep your luggage and personal items close at hand, so my wife and I spent a fair amount of time and energy going back and forth from the ground floor to the sleeping level. There was no shower, but the tub had a ledge for toiletries. Nonetheless, the tub was deep enought that a person with mobility issues would have found the tub hard to use.

This was as we expected, a formal hotel which was well situated for visiting much of Syracuse. It was spotless, and given the number of rooms, quite quiet. Good self service breakfast with a lot of choice.

We were kept waiting for an hour to get into our room after the check in time and heard two other couples also complaining about the wait. We were given a sweet sherbet while waiting. The hostess who met us was trying to sell us an event the hotel was running that evening before we'd even sat down - not great after a long journey. A note in our bedrooms would have been better. There was a terrible drain smell in my bathroom each morning - much worse than anywhere else we stayed in Italy. The usual Italian personal touch was missing - this was a rigidly formal place.
