Piccolo Hotel San Valentino is set on top of a hill in the middle of the fairytale Val d'Orcia. Among cypress trees, olive groves and crete senesi. The Abbey of San Oliveto Maggiore is about a kilometre away. The hotel has a restaurant, but it closes in the evening, so it's completely quiet at night - the nearest village is several kilometres away. For breakfast we got everything we wanted: there was sheep's cheese, all sorts of spreads, yoghurts, prosciutto if you wanted it and several types of pastries. The room was not large but comfortable, the wi-fi worked, there are mosquito nets on the windows - although there are not many around the hotel, and the room is air-conditioned. We were able to visit a classical music festival in nearby Asciano. And of course all the staff were extremely friendly and willing to help.

I'm sorry, but I can't think of anything that bothered me.

Twelve years ago we stayed at Piccolo and loved it. It was even better this time. The rural location is quiet with beautiful, classic Tuscan views. The restaurant is superb. The staff is very accommodating. Some extended family also run the restaurant at the nearby monastery and it is worth a visit as well. If you are looking for a quiet, beautiful location to relax, stay here!

It's a beautiful place in a lovely location. The staff is very friendly and helpful

The furniture is a bit old but fancy and the mattresses are a bit narrow

Location was perfect after hectic Florence &, Venice, & Rome. Quiet, peaceful, & only a stone's throw from the Abbey. The on-site restaurant had wonderful food, & many choices for breakfast. And we loved the cats!

A lovely hotel in the Tuscany countryside. The food was fantastic -- loved dinner and breakfast. Glad we had our car as it's quite a way from the main roads.

The single room for my sister was in a building with noisy guests. (Not the hotel's fault.) The wi-fi was sub-par, but we didn't go there for work or for the internet!

- remote location, countryside, nice to explore around - breakfast was ok, local products, with varied options

- fan from bathroom made quite some noise, needs change - could have used some slippers, floor can be quite cold - wifi not the best in our room

It is a very nice secluded property that gives you a sense of living in Tuscany. We enjoyed our stay, breakfast, and the friendliness of the staff.

I traveled for work and the staff kindly accommodated my very late check-in. They were very kind and friendly, the room was cozy and warm. Good breakfast with sweet and savoury items. The place is adorable, highly recommend!
