Man, what didn't we like? As soon as we turned up, Susanna was there with a huge smile welcoming us to this wonderful hotel. She gave us the keys and bus passes and let us know there was a restaurant on site. As we entered the room all of our troubles melted away, it was beautiful. Tastefully designed, spacious and a view that took our breath away. The bed was extremely comfortable. We got there late, so we decided to check out the wellness room, and it didn't disappoint. It was as if you'd be transported to another universe, immersive sauna, steam room and salt room. The whirlpool is fantastic for a finisher, after you've sweated out your troubles and had a shower. The seats are even heated, the wellness room blew us away, to the finest details. But it doesn't end there, the relaxation room next door makes you want to just live in there, forever. We also ate in the restaurant, the food was sublime. I'm a Coeliac, and the gluten free menu is one of the best I've seen, the pasta was perfectly al dente and flavour combinations on point. The service was always attentive and kind. The crew really make you feel at home. Breakfast, again, was one of the best we've ever had the pleasure of having in our lives. Honestly, I just can't speak highly enough of these guys and what they've created. It's a truly special experience, and for the price of what you'd pay for a basic room in Sydney, it is genuinely mind blowing and you'd be stupid to miss out on the Hotel Freina experience. Thank you so much guys, it was wonderful. We will absolutely be back very soon.

Hotel Freina is one of several small establishments in the area between Val Gardena and Wolkenstein. It is surrounded on all sides by lovely mountain views and is within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and the Ciampinoi cable car. The rooms are generous in size, modern with a rustic flair, super clean and comfortable. The onsite underground parking is also a huge bonus. On the evening of my arrival I thoroughly enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on premise, starting with the fried ravioli appetizer, followed by an exquisitely prepared and plated venison, and finished with a lemon gelato with a limoncello pour-over. All delicious! The included breakfast on their private patio was delicious and plentiful with many fresh baked goods and strong coffee. On the day of my departure, the staff graciously allowed me to keep my car on premise so I could take advantage of Ciampinoi and an afternoon of hiking. They offered great advice on other hiking opportunities in the area as well. This is a small, family owned establishment, and it shows in the personal attention paid to guests. I highly recommend Hotel Freina and hope to return.

I was a bit disappointed in the bed, assuming that I had booked a queen size mattress, but ended up with 2 twins placed together. Being that I am a tall guy, it was a bit challenging to adjust to the "crease" down the center. This seems to be a common issue in European hotels.

This was an incredible hotel with all high end amenities and exceptional customer service. The rooms are spacious and beds are extremely comfortable. We truly enjoyed our stay here that we didn’t want to leave and subsequently booked an additional night. I can’t say enough about the family that works tirelessly to make everyone’s experience five stars. From the delicious breakfast bar, made to order kitchen service and dinner menu, the food was an integral part of our enjoyment. The self service spa was a really nice touch after a long day of hiking and exploring. Our room upgrade on the third night was to die for!! There were Two skylights that allowed us to see the mountains and then the stars at night and the balcony view was unparalleled. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay at Hotel Freina.

Excellent across the board! Seriously. Hotel Freina a family owned hotel, and the owners are there throughout the day with all the staff hosting guests. And from my experience, i can feel that hospitality runs in their blood. When that is the setting, you can picture the rest. Recommended.

We stayed here during the summer. Loved the location, the rooms, the views, the breakfast, the staff. The hotel restaurant is great for dinner too. It’s close to several great hikes where you can leave and come back to the hotel without needing to use your car.

A lovely alpine hotel in beautiful surroundings. Located close to the center of Selva di Val Gardena, with parking in a garage. Close to restaurants and lifts. Very helpful and friendly staff, making you feel most welcome. Spacious room with a balcony, including a new bathroom. The bed was creatively made up like on a cruise ship. The breakfast was absolutely superb - rich selections and good service. We were there for the summer and after a long day of hiking you can relax in the spa. The hotel has a restaurant for dining.

We upgraded our room. It was massive and well appointed. Breakfast & dinner were very high quality. The staff were all very pleasant. We would visit again.

Our minor gripe was that our view was directly up a slope, as opposed to onto the Dolomites. Saying that, had we visited in Winter, we would have preferred the view we had.

The staff from greeting to departure was wonderful. The restaurant was amazing for both breakfast and dinner. The room had great views and enough space to accommodate our two weeks of luggage. Overall, a great experience in this family owned business.

The food was just amazying, the bed is so comfortable! I was able to achieve dark room by using the curtains. The SPA area was outstanding and we really enjoyed it after a long trail

This hotel was by far the best we stayed in while in the Dolomites. It was convenient, friendly, comfortable with a really great breakfast And a high quality restaurant. We particularly enjoyed Klaus and Susanna and their family for always greeting us with a smile and friendly words.
