The staff members provided us good customer service, and were very professional and friendly. The hotel itself is modern and chic. I loved the display of art and the overall ambiance. The rooftop is a cool spot to brag a bite and vibe with friends and family. The room was clean, there was always hot water, and good working AC of course ! The location of the R Hotel is also a very central area to just about everything in uptown Kingston! Great, great, great, location near everything! I would definitely stay here again!

The breakfast is complimentary which is wonderful, but the breakfast was just ok. I have had better breakfast else where, especially the Jamaican breakfast offered there. Also, the safe for our room was out of commission, so we used my moms safe in another room. This was a inconvenience. Apart from the breakfast and the safe in our room not working, it was a great stay!

The room was big and comfortable. Really nice and relaxing place to be and it's surrounded by a number of fast food places/restaurants of walking distance. Breakfast was great and tasted good. Really good vibes

For dinner I ordered both Shrimp and chicken alfredo. Worst choice for dinner - it was just bland and didn't taste good. It's the worst shrimp and chicken alfredo that I have ever had.. Tasted so bad we couldn't even continue after three bites~I just wasted money on that meal.. When the waitress asked if I wanted to package it I told her No!!! The pool was not what I had expected

I stayed at this hotel for a week and here's my review: Breakfast was amazing - wide variety of options, tasty food and great portions (one wouldn't need to eat lunch as the breakfast portions would sustain you until dinner)! The front desk, restaurant and cleaning staff were all really friendly, helpful and accommodating - I'm especially grateful to the cleaning staff who made sure my room was clean, tidy and had a fresh set of towels and toiletries everyday. I loved the location of this hotel, close to Devon House, Bob Marley museum etc - we were there for carnival and were able to join the road march along Trafalgar road in less than 2 minutes :) I also appreciated that this hotel had secure parking - the parking bays were a little tight, but manageable if you take your time. There's also a gym in the basement, which was really useful for me (I woke up earlier than my friends and would keep myself occupied by working out whilst they were asleep).

There were a couple of mornings where the breakfast service was a little bit slow, mostly due to food options/coffee running out - otherwise, no major issues.

You come to the hotel not expecting much. But boy did this unassuming hotel exceed our expectations. Firstly it is in a very good location and especially if you need to take the bus to Montego Bay it is right around the corner. The Bob Marley museum and Devon House are a very short 5 min drive away. The rooms are very nice clean and spacious. Our room came with a fridge and microwave which was an absolute plus. The rooftop Bar 'District 5' served exceedingly delicious meals - our best in Kingston(!). For breakfast you have the option of traditional American breakfast or you can have the Chef's special which consists of a traditional Jamaican breakfast. Dinner was absolutely amazing. Dinning comes with immaculate panoramic views of the city and mountains. This hotel was not terribly expensive at all and thus it was so surprising all the amenities which came with it. Definitely a hidden gem.

I loved that there was a washing machine and tumble dryer in our room - very, very useful given we had the rainfall over a few days when our clothes were soaked and needed refreshing. Great touch! It was also a nice touch to have a breakfast each morning with great service from the staff.

The one thing that spoilt our start was the length of time it took for us to be served dinner in the hotel restaurant on our arrival - nearly 2 hrs after ordering!!! After an 8 hour flight and transit to the hotel, that was not good. The food was nice when it finally arrived, but we were too fed up and very tired with waiting for it to enjoy it properly. We even watched another table of people arrive and then walk out, as they could see how long it was taking for people to be served.

Very clean and comfortable room. I stayed three nights in the regular room, and two nights in the kitchenette room. The regular room was comfortable, and had a small fridge, as well as a balcony. In the kitchenette room, no balcony, but I was provided with all cooking implements, as well as laundry detergent. The staff were all amazing! Very nice, and helpful at all times. The rooftop in the evenings was a great place to sit and enjoy a smoothie and enjoy the music and atmosphere.

The food wasn't my favorite. I enjoyed the made to order eggs for breakfast, and the BBQ pigtails for lunch, as well as the smoothies from the bar. I didn't enjoy the rest of my meals. The Jamaican food for breakfast wasn't to my liking. The calaloo was cooked in coconut milk, which I wasn't fond of. There was a generous portion though. Also, the kidney, and saltfish fritters weren't good at all.

great location, easy to drive to for someone not used to Kingston traffic. clean, great breakfast with lovely views of the mountains and city, helpful staff. comfortable room. upgraded from room with balcony to room with kitchenette as it’s much more spacious and has clothes washing facilities which turned out to be useful. very close to Devon house and used Uber to do some sightseeing. secure key system to move around hotel with access to common areas and own floor.

views directly outside just a car park but it’s an inner city hotel so no problem there really

The service was excellent and restaurant being on the roof was convenient. The food was delicious (a bit pricey but convenient) and the took my AMEX making life easier for me. We wanted to experience Kingston and that was great. Staff was willing and able to organize transportation and trips.

We had to leave site to do laundry. Some rooms have it and they have dry cleaning. Having general laundry would be helpful. The pool and gym are small bu they have them. We had a few issues with the room key constantly deactivated.

Smallish boutique hotel with clean, pleasant comfortable rooms, friendly staff, pleasant roof-top bar and restaurant area, good food

Internet was slower and less reliable than on my previous visit. Restaurant food is quite expensive and there is a fixed menu which does not change from week to week. There are no specials of the day. The roof top swimming pool is ridiculously narrow (my arms touched the sides when swimming)

We did not get breakfast since we left at 6. Considerations should be taken for individuals who have early flights to catch and need to leave early.

Long wait time to checkin. I was extremely frustrated having to wait for 3-4 hour to be checked in to our room while waiting with two children under the age of 8. The place itself is beautiful however the staff need to be better trained .
