The staff was friendly and there was a Nepali woman at the front desk who spoke perfect English.the breakfast buffet was ok considering it was included in the price. Most everything is in Japanese. The room with tatami was great and spacious.the location is perfect too.
The corridors have seen better days, but then again I don't sleep in corridors. The onsen bath being closed between 9:30 am and 2:30 pm. Some people might complain about the smell of smoking, yes they have smoking rooms, it is an old fashioned Japanese hotel

This is the second time I have returned to this hotel because I was very satisfied with the structure and the service. This time I decided to bring my friends too, so they could enjoy the hospitality of this hotel. Located about 5 minutes walk from the Yubatake, and about 15 minutes walk from the bus terminal (on request it is possible to book a free shuttle at specific times). The hotel is large and spacious and has recently done some renovations to improve the lobby area. It has rooms spread over various floors and offers both Japanese and Western style rooms, some even with private onsen. It offers a good, fairly varied breakfast buffet served in a panoramic room. The restaurant on the 5th floor is elegant and refined and dinner is excellent both in the choice of dishes and in the presentation. The onsen on the 4th floor is large and has both indoor and outdoor areas. It is also possible to book massages with truly very good professional masseurs. The staff is kind, helpful and ready to solve any problem. Highly recommended for a relaxing experience and appreciate the comforts of a classy hotel.

This is a really beautiful traditional hotel with tatami rooms and sliding doors. We found the futon bedding really comfortable and we loved the robes provided for us. The rooms we stayed in were huge, much bigger than expected for a single occupant - it felt more like having a little apartment to ourselves, definitely great value for money! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and although they didn't have as much English compared to people in Tokyo we were still able to make ourselves understood and really appreciated their efforts. The breakfast was one of my favourite parts of our stay, there is some Western style food, but we enjoyed trying a whole range of dishes that we weren't used to for breakfast. You can see an amazing almost 360 view of the mountains while you eat. The onsen was very clean and comfortable with multiple pools including an outdoor one, and plenty of facilities in the dressing area. We also enjoyed the vending machines of beer and ice cream!

Location is good - close to center of town, shops, bars and restaurants. Google maps will tell you to go down a big hill to get there from the bus terminal but you don’t have too - can be accessed easier. Also the staff were very kind and drove us back to the bus terminal so we didn’t have to lug out heavy bags up hill. Hotel room fit two of us and out suitcases pretty comfy. Is a bit dated in decor but that’s not really a big deal. Has really lovely private onsens for those of us with tattoos, you’re not an allowed to use the public one in the hotel if you’ve got tatttoos. Massage chairs available for all though! lovely after the onsen. Pretty comfy stay, would stay there again.
Wish it had one of those fancy wizbang japanese toilets, just has a normal one.

Located about 5 minutes walk from the Yubatake, and about 15 minutes walk from the bus terminal (on request it is possible to book a shuttle at specific times). The hotel is large and spacious although the building is dated and could do with some updating. It has rooms spread over various floors and offers both Japanese and Western style rooms, some even with private onsen. It offers a good, fairly varied breakfast buffet served in a panoramic room. The restaurant is very nice and dinner is excellent both in the choice of dishes and in the presentation. The onsen on the 4th floor is large and has both indoor and outdoor areas. The staff is kind, helpful and ready to solve any problem.
The cleanliness of the hotel could be improved. Given the large availability of rooms, the hotel could sometimes be too crowded, especially in the shared areas and therefore also a little too noisy in the corridors. Internet has some connection problem

Easy access to the center of Kusatsu onsen, shuttle service also easy to arrange by approaching tourist information desk at bus stop who quickly help us call the hotel. Room was clean.
Hotel has some foreign waitresses who speak some English but felt like not trained well to serve Japanese meals as they are not able to guide us on how to eat or what are the meals or sequence (since we are also foreigners unfamiliar with certain japanese dishes). All hot plate dishes, they set the fire on at the same time so we had to rush up to finish them quick.

The meal are above standard. The female staff is excellent. As we wish to walk to other hotel some distance away but don’t know how to go and we do not want to call taxi, she helped us to call the hotel and finally asked their driver to drive us there. I wish to express our deepest gratitudes to her. Many thanks!
The room is very small but I understand as the price is really good.

Great location close to the centre of town. The onsen was quite nice, with outdoor tubs as well. The restaurant where breakfast was served had a panoramic view of the mountain range surrounding. All in all a wonderful spot.
The room smelled a bit like cigarette smoke even though we had a non-smoking room. Not too big a deal.

The hotel onsen was great. There are also private onsen rooms for booking. The food was excellent for both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was a buffet. It was good and surprisingly had more Japanese food choices than many other hotels. Dinner was definitely worth the price. We just got the regular set but great and filling. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. They didn't speak very much English but it was no trouble. This is one of the hotels that are close to downtown, and about 15 min walk to the bus terminal.
It's an old building. A lot of things you expect of old buildings can be found here. Some people like that some people don't. The only thing that made me cringe a bit was how some parts of the hotel didn't look very clean - public areas and private areas. Hotel restaurants and lobby were very clean. But other places had little spots that seemed to be missed for a while.

The hotel does provide shuttle service from the bus interchange. All facilities are cleaned, well maintained and their food serving was good, worth the value that we paid for. Will visit again for sure!
