The staff at Hiina goes above and beyond, even according to the already very high Japanese standards. Even though we only came across one staff member that spoke fluent English, all the staff was incredibly polite, helpful, and sweet. We felt like royalty. They picked us up at Izu-Atagawa station and dropped us back after we checked-out. Our room, despite dated and needing some renovations, was lovely. We had a wonderful sea view, a spacious balcony with our own small onsen and an outdoor shower area, a spacious tatami style living room as well as an entrance that had two sinks and the toilet in a separate small room. Despite having our own onsen, we ventured to the ones spread throughout the property and loved them. The view of every single one is beautiful as they all face the sea, they're all extremely private and with spacious private shower facilities. Lastly, the meals. I would start by saying that even for adventurous food eaters like us, some things were a bit intimidating, and since the lovely lady serving our meals didn't speak a word of English, most of the time we had no idea what we were eating. Nevertheless, they accommodated us since we don't eat meat. Our second dinner and second breakfast were divine, especially the dinner, because the staff adjusted our meals based on what we ate and didn't eat from our first meals, which shows a great level of care and attention to detail. For this reason, our first meals were good but not as fantastic as the second ones.

No USB outlets to charge our phones. We felt that the onsens water was a bit too warm for us as we couldn't stay fully submersed for more than a couple of minutes at a time, but maybe that's just normal Japanese onsen temperatures. The room clearly needs an update but the common areas are in a perfect state.

We enjoyed the view of the sea from our balcony and the use of the private onsens they provide Yukatas on arrival and also provide room service during dinner to swap room into sleeping. We booked half board so we got breakfast and dinner. There is 5/6 private onsens available 14:30-midnight, upgrades to having an onsen on balcony which is available 24hr and a male and female public onsen. The private onsens were useful for us because of my tattoos. Shampoo and soap provided, towels provided.

Very traditional Japanese style, nothing to complain about just be aware that the food served is culturally appropriate for the tradition of the onsen.

This resort has really nice service, everyone is so sweet and helpful. Dinner and Breakfast are amazing, everyday menu are different. Love their 金目鯛! The ocean-view outdoor bath is amazing, you also got private bath there ( a great time with Family). In our Checking out morning, the rain was pouring that the train from Izu-Atagawa is stopped. They were helping out to find other way to reach Tokyo and send us to further station from Atagawa helping us travel. Have to say a big big thank you to Hiina! Would love to visit again and highly recommend to ppl whoever wanna visit Izu in the future!

Absolutely everything! Staff was amazing and attentive, always going the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and happy. They picked us up from the train station and welcomed us with drinks! Room was spacious, super clean and had amazing views. We booked dinner and breakfast at the property and we had a wonderful time. Recommend for anyone looking for relaxation. We’ll absolutely come back there when we’re back in Japan. Or even take a trip only to go there because it was wonderful.

This is a really difficult review because this place is a little unusual. It's a very old fashioned inn with excellent service and outstanding food. The onsen baths are all beautiful and very relaxing. View is quite lovely. However the inn itself is quite tired and in need of updating. For this reason alone I find the price a bit steep and so I have scored it lower.

Tattiness of the rooms, power lines in front of the inn.

Location is next to the sea with good view of sunrise. Also, the hotel is good for visit to Jogasski coast and Kawasu 7 waterfalls are within 30 mins drive. Excellent private onsens for use.

Kaiseki food quality could be better especially the breakfast. Lower level rooms have power lines blocking sunrise view. Also, the hotel is directly in front of a street with some traffic noise.

The staff is very friendly and thoughtful, help pick us up from station, it’s very convenient! The food is fabulous, best dinner and breakfast ever, many different types of food, and chief modify the food and also cooking way for two stay. The onsen is very nice, they have different onset to select, very comfortable.

It's authenticity, true comfort, the private onsen on, and crashing sea below, my terrace and the delicious food were remarkable.... This is magic if you're seeking extraordinary Japanese kaiseki combined with a genuine, absolutely comfortable, beautifully clean, welcoming experience of rural Japan by the sea. (Make sure to confirm you have a private toilet, if you want one....)

I loved everything....

The hospitality was so good. They treated us like their own. The room was large and very clean as expected. The private and public onsens were so relaxing and beautiful. The breakfast and dinner were probably the 2 best meals we had in our lives. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone!

We loved everything! We had a room with a bath on the balcony overlooking the sea. It was fabulous. We thought we'd love the end of the day bath best but it was the morning bath with the sun rising and everything quiet except for the ocean waves that I found absolutely amazing. The staff was fantastic and the dinner and breakfast absolutely delicious. And it is located in such a quiet town, we loved that too. We will never forget Hiina!
