Clearly, we liked the place since we did not step outside the building for 3 days. The room is spacious, and the spa options delightful. Greatly enjoyed the massage. We looked forward to the breakfast buffet every morning. We ate one night at the hotel restaurant, which requires reservations. Fine dining, and I was happily surprised that they even remembered my egg allergy and modified my dish accordingly. The robes are comfortable. Why wear street clothes!? The views of the ocean, amazing, and if you have time, go for a walk around. I could go on. If you don't speak at least some Japanese, staying here might be awkward. Our Japanese was enough to get by. BTW, there is an easy and cheap way to get there, almost all by train, and there is a shuttle from the last station to the hotel, but you need to plan that in advance. Overall, the staff were lovely. Definitely suggest this place and would return.

Clothes dryer did not really dry the clothes even after 110 minutes. Hand a mass of damp clothing hanging all over our room overnight. Also, although the resort is on the ocean, you will need to go elsewhere for an actual beach with sand.

Absolutely beautiful ocean view. Private onsen also has astonishing ocean view. Breakfast was nice with unbeatable ocean view. There were more pillows you can use if you need.

Not accessible by bus or train, but you can take hotel's shuttle bus to or from train station. No restaurants and conveniences stores nearby. The facility looks old, no shower only bath tub in the bathroom, the hair dryer is not efficient. The staff were not helpful.

Highly recommended! Loved the breathtaking coast and mountain view. Stayed for one night and wished a bit longer. Although the facilities are not new, friendly staffs here are trying their best to maintain and keep Akazawa Onsen hotel its own charm. Fresh and delicious buffet breakfast with food reflect the character of Izu / Shizuoka, lots of choices from Japanese style fish, porridge, side dishes to western eggs, grilled veggies and pastries. Our 和洋room is so spacious with tatami living area and two double beds. We enjoyed the amazing ocean view from the room balcony. Beds are very comfortable. Yukata, The light cotton kimono bathrobe or roomwear provided by the hotel, has many patterns to choose from, this is also an adorable feature of this hotel. The public outdoor onsen overlooking the ocean is just stunning, with the beautiful natural surrounding, you can feel the true relaxation the moment step in.

The hotel was fantastic with very nice staff. It seems most of the top floors come with great ocean views. Onsen was superb (3rd floor one). Very clean and you can get golf cart to visit some other facilities near by (ask reception). Check definitely the Deep Sea Spa nearby, great water quality (extra cost though, but worth the visit). Hope to visit again!

The morning buffee table was quite limited. Would have hoped hotel this size offers more option and variety. Would be nice to see more options or at least some degree of daily menu rotation. Also, it would be good if the pool area was open bit longer than 5PM. Could do some very nice things with this area, if bit more developed. None of these are deal breakers, but rather hopeful suggestions.

Nice ocean view. Great breakfast. Nice and friendly staff. The onsens are all very pleasant, shaped as edgeless pool. I enjoyed a serene ocean view in the top floor onsen in solitude.

No beach in front of the hotel. I read review that mentioned a public beach in 5 mins walking distance though. There are some facilities such as tennis court, golf cart and bowling courses, that I don't think the staff told me at check-in. Maybe I stayed only one night, so she might think I won't have time for them. In fact I did not have time for them, but I still prefer to be told.

Great location with great ocean view

1. The room we booked is standard and actually level 2 can't have the sea viewing, instead covered by trees. But in the description it says has sea viewing. 2. I booked the room with breakfast. But when check-in the staff(speaks poor English) said I have to pay for breakfast. And I have to show him my booking details and he has to double checked to confirm which has wasted a bit of time.

Amazing sea views of the bay from room (twin with Tatami). Easy to arrive via train to Izu Kogen then <10 min taxi (1200 yen). Onsen was amazing! 1 rooftop smaller pool + 1 bigger double pool, both in the main hotel. Then the annex building separate onsen was amazing (one open air large onsen pool with views of the bay, and 1 inside pool with sauna and various mineral baths). (free for guests and can use during the day after your checkout too)

Outdoor onsen had ocean view. There were three onsen to choose from. All of them were great. Breakfast was fantastic. Lot of choice, great quality, clean dining area. The room was big and clean, and it worked great for four of us. Two beds for grandma and mom. Two futon beds for the kids on tatami. A shuttle bus took us to the train station.

Absolutely nothing!

I love the view from my room, the pool, the onsen etc. I like that the hotel loaned us a golf cart to go to bowling, (since it’s a bit far from the main building). That was fun. The buffet breakfast was good too!

They didn’t have bath soap, shampoo and conditioner in the rooms. You have to ask them if you want to take a shower in your room. The hotel has a lot of onsen where you can take a bath, but I didn’t want to use the onsen everyday so just wanted to shower in my bathroom. Anyway they were nice to loan me those so it’s not a big minus.

The many different onsen with the views are divine. We could hear the waves of the ocean from our terrace. The location is very quiet and we found some lovely walking paths in the area. It’s not easy to find an onsen resort that allows tattoos; I really appreciate the open-mindedness of this fabulous resort. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We liked how quiet the location was, but really there is nothing close by. The nearest supermarket was about an hour walk away. Bring your own snacks!
