The spa was fantastic! Indoor / outdoor facilities. Sauna, several mineral pools, beautiful view. Get the breakfast! It was delicious and served in a quaint tatami mat, private room with a heater at our feet. Really beautiful and a highlight of our trip. The double room was huge and SO comfortable. Floor to ceiling windows with ocean view. You basically live in the robes and jackets and slippers in the hotel. There was a van waiting at the train station to bring us up to the hotel (at the top of the hill)...very convenient and we did not even know about it! Loved the whole experience of this Onsen hotel!

The bathtub in the room needs updating, but we were in the spa morning and evening, so we used facilities down there. The rooftop spa was closed because it was raining, but heard from another guest it is very cool. Also, the town itself is tiny, and although there is a beach, the building down there have seen better days. I think the pandemic hit Atagawa hard.

The ryokan is located in a quaint little onsen town, quite like how quiet it gets. The large variety of onsens available on site were excellent, room was very comfortable, view of the sea was great.

Some of the appliances were showing its age, though admittedly they were still in excellent condition.

Staff there lies in the face. When I asked about the operational hours of sauna, I was told it was open until 9.30 am. When I arrived at 8.50 it was already turned off but still warm. When I asked again, when did sauna closed, the same staff told me it had in fact been shut down for the last two years. The bathroom in the room was nice and clean but running only cold water.

Beautiful onsen hotel for a quick escape from Tokyo. The hotel offered an easy shuttle from the train station and the staff were so kind and welcoming. The evening meal was delicious and the multiple onsens were perfect (especially the rooftop!) I splurged for a Qoomo room with the daybed and balcony that felt spacious and well worth it for the view. Wifi and Nescafe coffee maker were also up to standard.

the hotel is very nice, it is a pity that we didn't have dinner and breakfast. The staff in the lobby are excellent, though they are not good in English. i would like to visit next time and stay longer.

The hotel is close to the Izu-Atagawa station and provides a shuttle to and from the station. There is also a Family Mart convenience store across the street from the hotel. We did have breakfast at the hotel. It was a traditional Japanese breakfast with several small dishes of fish, rice, vegetables, and hot green tea. The hotel itself is very clean and has great views of the ocean. They provide both western style rooms (with beds) and Japanese-style rooms (with tatami mats). Our favorite part of they whole stay was the onsen. They have several baths grouped into 3 areas. The areas alternate between men and women. This was our first onsen experience and I thought I would be uncomfortable but the space is very well done and scenic and the other guest mind their own business so we were able to relax pretty easily. Overall we had a good stay. We speak limited Japanese but the staff were able to fill in the blanks with some English.

I wish Booking had more information about the hotel when booking. It would have been nice to know that the hotel provided a shuttle and that meals had to be reserved in advance.

Great selection of onsens, clean and well-maintained. Rooftop bath was quite fun. Great view from the room. Short walk to the station if you don't mind the stairs. Incredibly helpful staff.

Beds and pillows were a bit rough but this is of course a matter of personal preference. Parts of the room don't have AC and get quite hot during the day.
