We stayed two nights on the breakfast & dinner plan. Food was exceptional. We left all meals absolutely stuffed on delicious food. Ingredients where often locally sourced and the menu changed completely between the two days. The private stone bath attached to the room was huge and very comfortable. Water temperature was easily adjustable. And other than a little debris from the stone which is natural everything was very clean. Staff were lovely and very accomodating. I would definitely visit again when I have the chance.

We didn't end up using the indoor wooden bath as it smelled quite musty. It might just be what the cedar wood naturally smells like but it was a big no for us.

The garden was beautiful. we liked how we can feed carps in the pond. Kids enjoyed it a lot. The hot spring was wonderful and very relaxing as well. The foods were very delicious.

The Japanese suite room was great and big enough for 5adults, but it was too busy to share the one sink to get ready. Having 2 bathrooms was nice also, but we wish the room doesn’t hold smells. It smelled all the time whenever we go there. Staffs are very nice and friendly, but we felt lots of rushing feeling from them. we understand how they want to make things done within their scheduled time, but we wish we could enjoy our vacation without worrying about time schedules.

From the moment you drive up until the moment you drive off the staff make it their mission to make you feel like the only customer there. They label themselves as a hotel and resort and resort they are! Your every want, need and wish is met before you even know you need it. My partner and I speak limited and quite broken Japanese and a few of the staff had conversational English which was a huge help for us especially dissecting the dinner/breakfast. We book a room with private bath and loved the convenience and experience, unlike anything we’ve had before. I 100% suggest the half board option(traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner included)!the meals are very well thought out and delicious!

I really enjoyed the outdoor onsen at the back of the accommodation. It provides full privacy and unlimited accessibility. The accommodation unit is spacious, and beds are comfortable. The meals were authentic and delicious in decent portion as well. It's relevant smooth to navigate from Tokyo city to this location using public transport.

I don't have anything I didn't like during my stay.

While the location may be a bit far from the town centre, it's perfectly serene and beautiful. It's worth the trek! Our room faced the mountains and it was so calming and peaceful in the morning. The staff was so friendly and accomodating, even helping us with an early morning taxi call.

That we couldn't stay longer.

The property is beautiful, the scenery, the pond with the koi fishes and the nice music you can hear in the lobby among other things makes Ishinoya a very special place. Also the staff are very nice and the service is excellent.
