The staff at Kyoto Travellers Inn were so nice, helpful and consumate professionals who would hand us our room key as we walked in from day one they knew us. The hotel is an easy walk to lots of busy parts of Kyoto but a haven of quiet from the crowds as well. I loved the little onsen downstairs and the bathrobes they provided. This is a great location to visit many temples although a hike to one or two of the most famous but it's well connected by bus and underground. It was less than ¥3500 in a taxi from the train station but you can also do it quite easily on the subway if you're familiar with how Japanese trains work. There's a 7 eleven on the corner which is handy and a lot of nice shops nearby. It's also close to the Philosophers Path walk which was beautiful in Cherry Blossom season

There aren't so many restaurants right by the hotel, you need to go in a bit for that but that's not a huge issue

We love the atmosphere and surrounding of the hotel. It’s near many happening places, not so difficult to go to any tourism spots like Gion, Kiyomizu-dera etc. The room is very comfortable for three of us and it’s also well equipped. Regardless of the vintage ambiance, we found it’s warm and cozy. We had good sleep there! The manager and staff are all helpful and willing to help us out when we try to find a parking spot. He immediately jumped out from the reception counter and guided us to the parking lot. We received the beautiful gift when just added the hotel in our social media platform. Love this hotel!

Great location. Friendly staff. There’s a public bath in the basement. Very clean. Comfortable. There’s a self heating kettle in the room, cups and green tea. Quiet area, had no problems with sleep. Convenient stores nearby. Beautiful shrine just few minutes walking away from hotel. There’s a microwave on the first floor for heating your food. Good thick curtains to create darkness for a better sleep. We enjoyed our stay.

Wifi connection on the fourth floor was not good… Conditioner in the room was noisy, may be it’s too old.

The hotel is conveniently located and I was lucky enough to stay here for 2 nights when plans fell through and I had to quickly find a hotel nearby. The room was simple but the bed was very comfortable.

Because I made bookings on the same days, I stayed in a different room each night I was there. The cleanliness of the room depends on who cleans it and there was a noticeable difference. It didn't bother me that much but guests' experiences may differ depending on which room they stay in.

I loved everything about this hotel. Not only is it possible to stay in a tatami mat room on a reasonable budget, you can walk to the local historical sights, use the city buses, and soak in the onsen, or do laundry. The art work is done by the artist in residence! A cool guy you can meet. The staff were exceptionally hospitable. The hotel has a cool "old school" dormitory feeling to it. The surrounding nature is absolutely beautiful. I hope I can stay again someday soon. Arigato!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean as well. Also, the hotel is in a very good location. Being a vegetarian, the staff took extra care in preparing a special western vegetarian meal on days when I paid for breakfast.

I did not find any negatives. Did miss a lift but it was good exercise so no complaints.

Clean and tidy, nice facilities, very friendly and courteous staff.

Despite pro-environment notices in the room, my towels seem to have been changed daily - this was not necessary as I had hung them up ready for re-use. I think there were boxes for recycling on each landing: however as the labels were only in Japanese I could not work out what I might recycle, where.

The staff was super friendly. It is a bit further out of most touristic place, but I loves the location away from the crowds but still close. I can highly recommend this place.

It is not that I did not like it, just want you to be aware that there are no elevators. A staff member carried my luggage without me asking to the 4th floor. Thanks.

The location was excellent, very friendly staff, great value, comfortable beds, clean with rooms serviced often and had everything we needed. Breakfast was great too.

The room decor is a little tired but not an issue. The rooms are quite small, but this seems to be similar in most Japanese cities.
