We love the room with the private stone garden and view of the exterior garden. The room was beautiful. Great way to experience staying in a Ryokan. The breakfast was also a fantastic way to experience Japanese culture. We asked for no pork and no alcohol meal and they easily accomodate that. There was also Yukata and slippers that we could use and walk around the premises. The bathroom even had facial products for men as well as women. Apart from the hairdryer, there was also an electric hairbrush. It is also closed to Philosopher's Path and you can walk along it that leads to Gingkakuji Temple.
The only negative thing was the location. There is no subway but only buses. So you can't travel on the bus with big suitcases.

The room with the garden view was absolutely amazing. The bathroom felt luxurious and the rooftop bath that you could book as extra was well worth the small additional fee. This was a perfect place to rest after running around in Tokyo for a week.
I both liked and didn't like the location since, yes it was perfect for a restful stay, but I also wanted to sightsee Kyoto and for those locations that I wanted to see it was difficult to navigate from the ryokan without a taxi. (Then again I think Kyoto in general is kinda hard to navigate without a taxi.)

We loved our stay! The room was so nice with tatami flooring and traditional aesthetics. The bathroom was great too! The location was as expected - quieter and away from the central bits of Kyoto, but there are various things to do nearby the hotel, and it was easy to get to with bus. The housekeeping team were very friendly! The male staff member on site who helped us with check-in and check-out was super polite and helpful! Him and the other male staff member also helped us send our luggage to the next city we’re staying in 😊
Their restaurant wasn’t open on Wednesday, so we couldn’t book breakfast for that morning. We weren’t aware of this when we made the booking, but luckily we stayed for 2 nights, so we booked breakfast for Thursday morning instead! The private onsen was a really lovey experience too, but I didn’t realize you had to pay a small fee for this. Regardless, we loved our stay here!

Our stay at KANADE was amazing! The hotel is located near less visited shrines and the Philosopher’s trail, the area was less busy and quiet, but easy to access by bus. The room was big and had a great view to their of their garden. The hotel offers all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The traditional breakfast was the highlight of our stay, the food was delicious!
The only thing that the hotel needs to work on is adding some sort of soundproof to their rooms, you could hear anything that happens in their hallway. Also it didn’t help that there was a family staying near our room whose baby didn’t stop crying for a while. Of course, this is not the hotel’s fault, but we hear the crying loud and clear. This issue won’t deter us to stay at the hotel again, we will definitely come back.

I enjoyed the amenities and cleanliness of the rooms. The owner was wonderful and flexible with our situation. Beautiful ryokan with a very lovely garden. Great housekeeping.
A bit limited in services provided to guests based on the price. Breakfast should be included at least in the price rather than having to pay the day prior to eating. The futons were difficult to get used to and a bit uncomfortable but that will depend on your preferences. Not good if you have back or neck problems.

Room was very traditional japanese room, we had a private bamboo garden. Our room also opened up in back garden which was great for our kids. Our room was huge! It had plenty space to sleep, keep bags, shoes, etc. Kimonos were provided so we used them. The private spa was very nice and convenient.
The bathroom had a weird smell. It didnt go away even after couple days stay. Breakfast shuts at 10am and we didnt reserve in time, so couldnt try it. I think ths should be mentioned somewhere or informed about.

A really lovely hotel in a quiet neighbourhood in one of the temple districts - we enjoyed staying there a lot. The staff were very friendly and helpful and really seemed to care about you always having time for a chat. Room was extremely clean and the futon beds were comfortable. There are 3 private roof top hot tubs which we took advantage of - very relaxing after a hot day going round the nearby temples. The hotel also takes pride in its garden which is immaculate. Within easy reach of downtown Kyoto - we used the number 4 bus which stops close to the hotel. The hotel has a restaurant, on this occasion we did not eat there, and there are several places to eat close by. Heartily reccomended.
Only thing I can think of is that we initially got a bit lost trying to find the hotel from nearby Keage station as it is not visible from the main road but eventually found it.

Everything was excellent! The spacious room was great with 3 futons for 2 adults and 1 year old baby, clean and great bathroom with all amenities you need! Onsen was great too! What I loved the most is the staff and breakfast! The staff was so kind, so adorable, such a nice people I’ve never met in my life before, they made our stay wonderful! Thank you for the birthday cake for our baby! Thank you for chef for delicious breakfasts, and breakfasts every day is different) I miss the place and would love to come back next year!) highly recommended ryokan!

The room size was great, and view was nice and the shower was huge with amazing soaps and toiletries. Heaps or storage space for suitcases
Beds were a little firm and stuff were a little confusing to work with regarding the luggage and got overly annoyed when we overstayed in the spa for 5 mins, yea our fault but didn’t like the way we were spoken to. The closest train station was a 15-20 min walk so wasn’t the quickest Apart from that, was a great place to stay

This was a traditional style ryokan sleeping on futon beds- these we’re comfortable however maybe not suitable for older individuals. Bathroom and rooms were very spacious and kept very clean. Restaurant was good. This is a true Japenese experience and would not suit someone who wanted a western diet etc however for what we wanted this was perfect. Beautiful gardens and perfect location although quite a distance from Kyōto station however we enjoyed walking so this wasn’t a problem for us and we were prepared for this. Staff were very friendly .
There was nothing not to like but if you don’t want a Japanese experience then this is not the place to stay.
