Our favourite hotel of our trip to Japan. It felt very luxurious and they included a bottle of bubbly for us in the room as it was a special occassion. The bathroom was very clean and modern with a built in bluetooth speaker. Bed was comfy. And just a 15 minute straight walk up to the main part of town, so we didn't get breakfast included as plenty of options nearby.

Amazing!!!! Everything. Best hotel we’ve stayed in for the price. Shower and tub was amazing. Rooms were pretty spacious and comfortable and AC worked well. Staff was accommodating. Happy hour every night was unreal!! Such a great stay!!!

This is a wonderful hotel on the river bank with a wonderful view, where you want to return after an intensive day. In the lobby, some kind of Japanese art is always presented, there is also a wonderful selection of books to read. The hotel is located near many famous temples, 5 minutes by metro to the center. Comfortable room, especially good bathroom and bed with pillows. Excellent service and kind responsive staff. Good fresh breakfast always, many restaurants in the area. You want to come back to such a hotel again and again, as to your home. I thank each employee of the hotel for the wonderful atmosphere and kind hearts!

Recommended for Kyoto! good location next to subway station that you can use to transfer to other lines (there are a few in Kyoto). quiet location with quick walk to historic areas. 10-15 minute walk to dozens of restaurants and there are a few very close by. Most comfortable room + bathroom (except the two twins being pushed together) - big for Japan standards. Nice building/lobby and comfortable to return to each day. Loved the happy hour with free drinks/snacks. Breakfast good (not authentic Japanese but that was okay with me) - a little boring after 4 nights with the same thing every day but was pretty much what i'd eat at home. Friendly staff.

- really good location next to subway and easy walking distance from Gion. - lots of nice restaurants and bars nearby - room was very quiet even though hotel is next to the main road. Plus there was a very picturesque river right next to hotel where you can see herons and egrets - great staff - upgraded us to a better room because toilet in ours was broken - room was very beautifully decorated and had everything we needed - free drinks for guests every evening with local sake and appetizer snacks

- limited options for breakfast (but most likely because they offer products from local producers like yogurt and salad) - water in shower was rather tepid

Everything was great - room, hotel facilities, ambience, people. I liked the design and style, especially the ceiling, the material they used for soundproofing (I guess) looks awesome. I particularly enjoyed the separate shower room with shower and bath both. They have a nice evening drinks and snacks in their cozy lobby area. I wish more people utilized this amenity, it was a bit empty; but of course evening is the time when most tourists are out for dinner and fun. We had breakfast once, and it was quite nice. Location is great too, easily walkable to Gion, Pontocho and shops, but tucked away, so you don’t get noise and crowds. Right by the subway exit.

Honestly, nothing.

Hotel staff was super friendly. We stored our luggage before check-in time to then go and explore Kyoto. When we returned our luggage was already on our room. The complimentary drinks and snacks in the evening were highly appreciated. It made the stay even more enjoyable. The location next to the river is just beautiful.

Just a small thing: We were staying in one of the smaller rooms (306) and we were missing some hooks to e.g. hang towels or toiletry bags and some surfaces to place some things in the bathroom.

This hotel was truly exceptional, the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was huge by any country's standards, but especially for Japan. The bed was very comfortable, and the rainfall shower and bath in the wet room were fantastic. The hotel provided complimentary drinks and snacks between 6pm-10pm which was very enjoyable. There is a subway station less than 2 minutes walk in one direction and a large lawsons 2 minutes the other, despite the roadside location and proximity to the subway, we heard no noise from outside or from other guests. Lots of areas within walking distance for day and night time. Would 100% reccomend to anyone!

Everything was fantastic!

I love the location of this property. There's a nice little river/stream that runs right by the hotel. The location for me was great. It wasn't in a busy or crowded area so the vibe was very relaxing. It was also close to Heian Jingu shrine, a cultural arts theater, and many interesting craft shops. The hotel is withing a few minutes walk from the nearest station. The rooms feel new and the hotel has a local artistic vibe.

I think I had an issue with connecting bluetooth on the tv a few times to connect to my streaming apps. I remember I had to get the staff to reset the tv once. Perhaps it was user error, but, at least for my stay, it was a little awkward to figure out how to use.

The Tassel hotel is located in the Higashiyama neighborhood, a 2 minute walk from the metro station and within walking distance of numerous good restaurants. Our double standard room was quiet and comfortable and came with pajamas, tea and water. We especially liked the lobby with views on the canal, a relaxing place for breakfast and complimentary evening snacks and drinks, including wine and different kinds of sake.

The bathroom needed more hooks to hang wet towels. Also it would be nice to have a reading light on both sides of the bed.
