Pretty much your ideal 3 star hotel. Rooms are small compared to North America but reasonable for East Asia. Hotel is nicely put together. The rooms have a pleasant aesthetic. The location is both close to the "temple district" and the downtown area. Quite walkable

It didn't impact us but doors shutting at midnight with no way to get in could be an issue for many people. I would be looking at revising that policy if I were the manager.

All of the staff went above and beyond to help and were so friendly. They really made my stay better. Nothing was too much trouble. Comfy bed, Quiet, felt safe in that area, cute tasty continental breakfast, lift.

Trying to find it for the first time jet lagged and tired with no obvious name. I’ve added a pic of the cute sandy entrance! Hopefully that will help someone else find it better.

Very clean and comfy hotel in a good position to explore Kyoto. Helpful staff. Yummy little breakfast. The fresh fruit was a nice touch

Having to give your key in every time you leave the hotel. Having a midnight curfew. Possibly could have had a larger breakfast

Very lovely place with beautiful tranquil cypress baths in the rooms. The rooms were simple but elegant and very nice, with small terraces and large bathrooms with beautiful painted fixtures. The bed was small but moderately comfortable. Very pleasant lighting as well, and very clean. The neighborhood is just gorgeous. Very peaceful and historical, and not too touristy or crowded. Lots of incredible food nearby as well, and they serve a wonderful continental breakfast with great coffee.

They don't mention on the listing that there is a 12AM curfew!! They take your room key any time you exit, then give it back when you re-enter. Meaning if you aren't back at midnight, you have no key lol so you have to They are very insistent about reminding you to be back before midnight any time you leave at night. I don't really mind the curfew, but I wish it was mentioned on the listing because it was kind of a surprise and seemed like it would be a very big deal if you broke it. Only one pillow on the bed and it was very small. Still absolutely recommend this place though, very nice spot to stay for an authentic Kyoto experience.

Good hotel. modern decor. clean. Perfect location close to Gion, so perfect. staff friendly. room size is decent, has a lovely bath and everything you need. breakfast was 3 pastries, fruit, yoghurt, corn flakes, milk, juice, tea/coffee, water all served to you. The hotel is in a quiet street, but 2 blocks away from the main road and the station for Gion.

Breakfast was too early 7am to 8h30. The hotel doors are locked between midnight and 5am, for safety they say, but we felt it could be restrictive, but then again everything is closed around the area then. There's a mention of drinks between 5pm and 7pm, but we never got that. Didn't see any drinks on display or anyone having and we looked around.

I was very impressed the second I saw the hotel entrance and the rest of the hotel didn’t let me down. I loved the small and cozy room. Everything was very good quality and the bed (duvet especially) were so lovely. Beautiful cup to drink tea from. The cypress bath was beautiful and relaxing. Good location near beautiful, narrow and peaceful streets. The staff was very friendly. I wish I would have stayed longer!

There was a balcony but the view was blocked. You have to leave the room key to front desk when going outside and come back before midnight (the doors get locked). It didn’t bother me but it’s good to acknowledge beforehand.

Very friendly and welcoming staff - good English, and one day a kind lady even offered me some good matcha. The hinoki bath in the room isn't big but very pleasant to relax at. Overall a good value for its money. Good location, walking distance from Kyomizu-Gojo and Gion-Shijo stations.

It's the first time in my travels in Japan when I left a "Do not disturb" sign on the door and someone still came to do the cleaning. The breakfast included in the price that doesn't let you choose the food - not like the breakfast itself was bad, but I have a lot of food restrictions, so I couldn't eat most of the stuff they served the first morning.

I really loved how attentive the staff are. After a night or two they remember who you are and love to ask you about your day. The building was clean and the house keepers really are outstanding. They would neatly fold any clothes and set them back where they were originally. If you had things on the desk or night stand they would neatly lay everything out in an organized manner. Overall the service and attention to detail is something I’ve never seen before.

The one thing that can be a turn off for people is their midnight rule. Where since there is no staff out front they lock the doors. No one gets in and no one gets out past midnight. So if you enjoy a long night out past midnight, I’d look somewhere else.

This place was a great find for me personally. It's located in an area that's relatively quiet from the busy parts of Kyoto and Gion District which is great to wind down and relax. Getting to the bus or any transport system is no more than 10 minutes walk from what I had to do. Service was impeccable, kindhearted, and their attention to detail and aesthetics is phenomenal. Their rooms are clean and beds are quite comfortable sleeping in. Of note their bathrooms has a cypress bath which always has a pleasant smell and their amenities are generous.

Only thing of note is that they close doors at 12:00 a.m. every night so be back by then. For me personally we were all tired by then so we were back before their closing time.
