The location was a little hard to get to but only because the local buses were a little tricky to navigate for first timers. Reserving a shuttle is much better. Breakfast was excellent though it could have been a little heartier considering the cold weather.

Everything exceeded our expectations. We want to thank the staff and their attention to detail in everything that they do, from shuttling us around Jozankei to preparing our food.

Hotel Suizantei is a beautiful onsen/ryokan. Even though it is an older hotel, it is very well kept. There are several onsen areas for men and women to bath in as well as a private tub on the roof which can be booked for 45-minute sessions. If you are fortunate enough, you can even book a room with it's own onsen tub in the room. Both dinner and breakfast were very well prepared and were very delicious. Before and after each meal, there were beverages and freshly made snacks available in the lounge area. After dinner, they even had beer, sake and other spirits available in the lounge for everyone to enjoy. If we go up to Sapporo again, we will definitely go back to Hotel Suizantei.

Nothing! From the moment we arrived until check-out time, we had a wonderful stay.

The staff was excellent and kind! For example, we asked one gentleman to book a taxi for us to Otaru. He said it would take 40-50 minutes for the taxi to arrive so we told him we would use the time to go outside and take some pictures. We then left our luggage with him at the front desk and went outside to enjoy the beautiful morning. 40 minutes later, we rushed back to see our taxi waiting for us in front of the hotel. As we went inside to collect our luggage, the front desk gentleman informed us that he had already taken the liberty to load our extremely heavy luggage into the taxi! Unbelievable service and kindness! The one restaurant we went to (K) was delicious and worthwhile. We didn't go to the other ones that were extra charge but we were extremely satisfied with the dinner and breakfast provided!

The facilities were a bit dated and old. For example, the blankets for sleeping were too small for me and I am only 5'9"(175cm). I would pull up the blanket to my neck and the bottom would rise above my feet and my feet ended up being cold. So i would cover my feet again and my neck would end up being cold. Additionally, the hallways smelled too much of cigarette smoke.

Staff are friendly and helpful. We liked the traditional Japanese style accommodation, and variety of coffee and tea provided. Staff helped with setting up the futon while we had dinner. Breakfast and Dinner were included, and were very good with variety of choices. I chose to pay extra for the 2nd night to upgrade dinner to a different restaurant, which has a different set up and different dishes. We enjoyed the happy hours as well, children loved the cake / snacks / tea / hot choc while I tried different alcoholic drinks. The Onsen were good and not heavily packed during the days we stayed. For people who want to try the private onsen, make sure you book early in order to secure you a convenient time. (I booked quite late, the choices were 1am, 2am or 8am). We also tried the outdoor Onsen, the view and feel would be amazing if it is during cherry blossom or during snow season.

The height of the door frame / ceiling was a little challenging for tall members in my family :P

The room was spacious and there was a nice window view. Its quiet and clean. Albeit the staff does not speak english that well, they were polite and very hospitable. They try to be helpful as much as they can. Onsens were big with a variety of temperature. And the outdoor ones were very relaxing The dinner course was unexpected and delicious. Breakfast was satisfying too. Overall, my friends and I had a wonderful first onsen experience here. Will definitely come again.

Only one massage chair was working in the spa area. Other than that, we are very satisfied and happy to have visited

This was one of the best hotels I've stayed in Japan. The rooms are beautiful, spacious yet cozy. The private onsen in the bathroom was absolutely divine, not to mention the property also has indoor and outdoor onsens attached (both great). The futons were like sleeping on clouds and we had one of the best night's sleep of our lives. The dinner at the restaurant was a delicious and wonderful experience. The guest lounge on the ground floor was also a great place to relax and refresh. I wish I had stayed more than one night.

I can't name a single thing.

Great location. It is in a walking distance for park. Onsen is nice and not so crowded. Staff was very nice and very polite. Dinner was so good.

It was a little difficult to communicate to staff in english but the staff was willing to help and assist. Breakfast was not so impressive. Need advance booking for hotel shuttle bus to sapporo. I asked the hotel before arrival but they did not recommend me to make booking so the bus was full and I need to go back by taxi. But staff help us book a taxi with good price.

Nice environment. Friendly staff though limited in English. But staff had excellent attitude and was attentive. When I asked for having a higher temperature in the bathtub, hotel staff came almost immediately. I had a burnt light bulb and the engineer came within 10min to replace it. Service was very good.

My private onsen tub was dirty. It had hair and things floating in the water. Also the property is quite dated. The decor in the room, though japanese style, was quite old.

Loved everything about this hotel! The English -speaking staff were exceedingly helpful especially Ziggy who advised us about the hotel amenities, about a special seasonal event in the town, about meal and onsen scheduling, and mostly welcomed us and made us feel very much at home. We enjoyed the extra snacks and drinks available in the lounge. The meals were superb kaiseki cuisine. We.felt pampered throughout our stay. It is a beautiful property.tbat was a pleasure to enjoy..

We had a private onsen and it was amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was our first ryokan experience and they kindly walked us through everything (the space, meals, slippers, and yukata)

The room was quite hot (couldn’t figure out how to adjust but not a big deal as we only stayed one night). My partner was a bit uncomfortable sleeping on the tatami mat floors but they offer rooms with beds if preferred.
