Location is perfect. Close to downtown. So many places to shop and eat. And yet still we could experience skiing at Ban K. Also we hiked in Maruyama Park after a nice snowfall, which was great. We also visited Maruyama Zoo, which is an ok short winter activity, but probably nicer in the summer.

The only rooms available were smoking and our kids barely made it the first night. But we got some help to open the window and all was ok after we aired out the room for 2 days.

Although an older property the hotel is still very comfortable; in a great location with direct access to the underground walkway. Their breakfast buffet is wonderful with numerous selections. Even after a seven day stay we did not tire of it…both Japanese and western options, great omelet station, drink selections, yogurt, fresh salad bar and soft serve ice cream. Hotel also has English speakers whom you should ask for. They will research things for you.

Hotel is older but well maintained and staffed.

The hotel atmosphere is great. I'm not really into a modern minimalist hotel. Sapporo Grand Hotel definitely gives a classic, luxurious ambiance yet updated. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. The room is quite spacious, and all facilities and amenities are made to be detailed for the comfort of the guests. The location is the best. Walking distance to many attractions, yet the hotel neighborhood is very peaceful. Many restaurants and mini markets around the hotel. The airport limousine bus arrives and departs right in front of the hotel. Highly recommend it. Will definitely come back.

Nothing. All great!

Normal room was terrible for 2, what I booked and saw in the website, was completely different, when come to the room for couple. Is so small that, me and husband unable to move freely and luggages unable to take along. We had no choice but upgrade the room to the one, that I saw online and is the newer wing, so much better and of course, I ended up paid alot more.

Should had allow us to choose online, I don't mind to pay more abit, but when I upgraded on the spot, I ended up paid hell much more.

It was an exceptional stay, starting with the fact that the hotel was linked to the railway station by an underground tunnel, which meant arriving by train was so easy. Check in was friendly and efficient and a member of staff showed me to my room (essential as it’s quite a big hotel split across a number of buildings). My room was spacious and comfortable with a comfortable bed and seating area. Breakfast was a real highlight with 3 different restaurants to choose from. I went for the buffet breakfast and there were a wide variety of dishes including local produce like Hokkaido milk. The hotel is conveniently situated right in the heart of Sapporo and there’s an underground tunnel linking the hotel to the railway station and the subway station too. I wouldn’t hesitate to return the next time I’m in Sapporo. The hotel along with all the staff were really wonderful.

Nothing, it was a great stay!

Many breakfast venue to choose from. The location is fantastic because it is connected to several places and restaurants via the underground network. That way, we will not have to work in the cold weather. The rooms are very clean and they manage to accommodate my request for adjourning rooms. They have an information desk where the staff are extremely friendly and help us with the booking of ski trips and talk and coordinate with our taxi driver in Japanese. Instead of telling where to go, they actually accompany us.

It would have been ideal if more staff could learn English but not complaining actually. The staff still manage to accommodate and try their best to understand and communicate.

The breakfast was great. You had 3 different restaurants as your breakfast options. I tried the Northern Terrace which is a western/japanese breakfast buffet. And I also tried restaurant Waraku which serves a traditional Japanese breakfast set. If you like traditional Japanese food and are not a picky eater, I recommend Waraku. The Japanese breakfast was beautifully presented and the ingredients tasted high quality. The staff are lovely and will treat you well. And the location of this hotel is amazing! You can access it completely underground from Sapporo station or Odori station, so if you have big suitcases, you don’t need to worry about wheeling it around in the snow. I didn’t bring a suitcase because I was worried about moving it around in the snow, but when I realised access was so good, I regretted my decision!

Don’t expect your room to look modern. Not a huge deal, everything still felt clean.

The hotel was centrally located and within walking distance to many parks, restaurants, shops, train stations, and touristy sites. There was a varied selection of places to eat or pick up food in the hotel: a bakery, Starbucks, several restaurants offering different cuisines, and bars. I enjoy having a relaxing breakfast at hotels where I'm staying whenever I travel. The breakfasts offered at the Sapporo Grand Hotel were superb, with an array of healthy and decadent dishes; it was an energizing way to begin each day. The staff was helpful in searching for a simple-to- read map with English translations that we could use and in arranging for luggage to be sent to another hotel.

The shower curtains needed to be replaced ASAP--the bottoms were brown!

The location is very good. The bakery is amazing and customer service is exceptional. The staff is polite and helpful. They accept drop-off luggage if you've a late flight. They provided discount coupons for restaurant and sightseeing. They clicked and gifted a picture of us as a present for birthday.

The main and only problem is that they don't have a gym/pool/sauna. The price is good so one would expect onsen type facility to relax, especially during winters as it gets too cold. I think they can improve something about it.

Centrally located being just 10-15 minutes walk away from Sapporo Station and the popular Odori Park and Susukino. The hotel has a direct entry to the underground passages, which is a fantastic feature travelers should utilize while in Sapporo. Breakfast buffet was great with plenty of options (different restaurants to chose from). The room was very comfortable with modern amenities.

Only minor consideration would be a lack of self-service laundry. They hotel does offer laundry services, but the prices were not worth it if you only have t-shirts and travel shorts. I think these prices are reasonable if you are traveling with a more dressed-up wardrobe (think button shirts and slacks). The service did not meet my purposes, but I do not count this against the hotel. Just be sure to keep this in mind if you intend to do laundry during your stay.
