We took a corner room with a view. Western style layout with plenty of space. It was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was really special. We tried hard but could only sample a fraction of the amazing range of food on offer. It is fun to watch an omelette being made using chopsticks instead of a spatula. Hotel is in easy range of shops, station and bus/taxi/subway.

Hot water shower not working well, staff was extremely rude shouted at us in the reception area for losing parking ticket (which was a paper ticket only) and eventually made us pay Y1,000 per lost ticket. We were not told to return the ticket when we checked in and all other hotels in other cities did not require us to return the paper ticket as well. It was a good stay for all of us until the very last moment! Overall all the staff are not polite to foreigners

Just one thing, we didn’t know, the air conditioning is not operating cause outside temperature is low but room was bit hot so we put it on just wind but it was actually warm wind so, in the middle of night, the room was so hot like 28 degrees! So we were sweating so had to call reception and a staff came to our room soon, and told us, cool air conditioning is not operating, so he opened window bit for us and, finally we went to sleep! If we know that information at the check in we didn’t put the air conditioning so, best explain at the check in. The hotel at Otaru, they explained when we checked in. But over all, it was excellent hotel! Best location too!

The hotel has a lovely European furnishing theme that brings you back in time but with the creature comforts of today. One of the best hotel breakfast served and it helped that there are special dishes coinciding with the New Year. One of the few hotels within stone throw of the JR Sapporo station offering onsen with decent sized room sealed the deal. The staff are very helpful even with the somewhat limited in English for the tourists it should not be too much of a hassle.

Room could be a bit better lit for practical reason (but this will probably clash with the ambience). Room layout is geared towards privacy and could have felt bigger but still much more spacious than typical Japanese offerings. The onsen is pay per day of unlimited use and this probably needs to be clearer on the booking site. Lastly, hotel is probably okay to walk to/from the train station during most part of the year but serious consideration to use a taxi during the months of heavy snow.

The room is very clean and spacious, the whole hotel is elegant and pretty. There is a seicomart on the ground floor connected to the hotel, very convenient. They have japanese and western style dishes for breakfast , even soft cream is available.

The only thing that is not satisfied is that the hot water in the bathroom sink is very little.

As this was a very short overnight stay during our journey to Niseko The Breakfast and Hotel Monterey Edelhof Sapporo was above and beyond all expectations, and perfect for a long train journey ahead This was incredible value with so much on offer, as well as beautiful warm friendly staff, set in a stunning Art Deco Building, We look forward to staying again! a beautiful hotel in a convenient position with lovely view of Sapporo city from my room. 10 minutes easy walk to Sapporo train station. restaurants/shops/attractions are within 10 minutes walk.

bathroom has a very large toilet leaving very little space to move around. shower hose allows only two positions……..one too high and one too low. communication in English at reception was not easy!!

We are impressed with this hotel from the moment we walked in. The room was clean and with in-room amenities. Our booking comes with daily buffet breakfast which has a good spread of food. The views from the dining room on level 13 was great. It is conveniently located close to the Sapporo JR station and Odori Park.

Beautiful old building with lovely interiors in the common area. The breakfast buffet on the top floor had a lovely view of Sapporo. An easy walk to Odori Park. The rooms were also quite spacious and comfortable.

I found it difficult to get accurate information about the hot spring bath. The hotel uses an app that has an English language option but I was still going in circles trying to find out which amenities were actually available during our holiday stay.

The hotel felt very luxurious and the bed was very comfortable. It was a fair distance from the train station which was very handy. Stuff made a big effort to communicate with me despite the language barrier. They even took care of a parcel that I had arranged to be dropped off before my arrival

I think it was a bit challenging finding the dining room for breakfast
