We went to the Takayama festival and then we arrived quite late at the Guest house but we received an amazing welcome from them ! They are so nice and you can even talk manga with them. Everything was well explained and they helped us carrying our luggage upstairs. The room was very clean and well decorated as the whole house is. You can have a snack or a coffee by self-service at anytime. They left the bathroom open one more hour because of the festival so that was very kind. Towels are not provided but you can rent them for 200 yen each at the reception. The breakfast was wonderful! Very generous and very tasty! The yogurt with homemade muesli was a must. The couple are definitely hard workers ! We came with a taxi for 10000 yen and we left with the local bus. The first bus was full so we had to wait for the second one but we arrived earlier so it was fine for us. It's probably because of the Takayama Spring festival. Thank you for everything!!

In this area, the price of this house is very cheap. There is a shared living room downstairs. Tonight, there are only three rooms occupied, so it’s not crowded. My daughter was able to study at the table in the hallway all evening. It’s very quiet.
There is no air conditioning, but the area is slightly elevated, so it's quite cool outside in mid-July. I wanted to open the windows, but not all of them have screens, so I'm worried about mosquitoes coming in. If we can't open the windows, it can get a bit hot. Additionally, this place is close to Hirayu Onsen. If you take a taxi from Hirayu Onsen to Kamikochi, you need to pay an extra toll fee for the tunnel, which is 790 yen one way, and 1580 yen round trip. There is only one shower room, but it can accommodate two people at the same time. However, when there are many guests, you might have to wait a long time.

If you're a fan of backpacker hostels, you'll definitely love this place. You can take a bus directly from Takayama City, and there's a bus stop right in front of the guesthouse. It’s renovated from an old inn, offers a standard Japanese tatami space with traditional Japanese bedding. It's compact, cozy and clean, with shared bathrooms and toilets on the first floor, and plenty of board games in the public area. While most accommodations in Japan provide toiletries, they're not provided here in line with environmental policies, but you can purchase them at the reception if needed. The two young hosts are very friendly and enthusiastic, fluent in English and Chinese, with plenty of travel experiences to chat about. They serve simple delicious meals and offer many sightseeing recommendations. You can take a bus to the nearby Hirayu Onsen, where you'll find fantastic hot spring experiences and delicious restaurants. You can also catch a bus to Kamikochi, which isn't far away.
There are no shops around, so having a car to here would be more convenient. If you haven't pre-ordered dinner, it's better to buy some food before arriving.

1.The hotel is located in the heart of the mountains (we arrived there by car) so is perfect for relaxing. 2.They provide free coffee and tea! :) 3. parking is free too!! :D 4. The decoration is so cute!! There is artificial grass and hammocks that make you feel that you are camping outdoors :D. There are also inspiring pictures that the owner took from his travels. 5. We stayed there to visit Kamikochi. Akandana parking is a few minutes away (by car) but there are other tourist facilities nearby :D.

Very clean, nice common spaces, snacks for sale, very nice staff. I think the room was a really good value. Loooved the ‘family bath’, and loved the view from my window!
Nothing I didn’t like about the property, but know it is probably better to have a car if you plan on staying here! Or, just don’t plan on walking anywhere. There is only a tiny shoulder along the highway and it doesn’t feel very safe. With that in mind, bring food for your stay because there aren’t many places to get food around.

The place was great and better than expected. I was expecting hostel conditions, but it's more comfortable, intimate and spacious than your regular hostel. Baths are shared and for showering you put your name on a list for a time slot. It works out smoothly, since there aren't that many rooms actually in the whole place. The people are very friendly and it was a great one-night pitstop while exploring the mountainous Gifu prefecture!

We loved our 3 nights at Cocomock House. Staying in a traditional (yet bright and modern) style Japanese home was great. It's peaceful and relaxing, has a lovely sitting area with hammocks, and it's absolutely spotless. Just a short drive to the hot springs further up the road, and just a 30 min drive from Takayama. Our hosts were super friendly and very helpful. We highly recommend Cocomock!

The hostel staff are incredibly amicable. The hostel was transformed from a traditional Japanese house, giving most visitors a nostalgic feeling. The location is perfect for those who want to visit Hirayu Onsen or Kamikoji. The hammocks in the lounge are relaxing.
There is nothing I don't like here. However, visitors must pay attention to getting food from shops or reservations and get ready to catch the buses at the right time. The hostel staff can usually give good advice on these aspects.

Great stay at Cocomock House; very homely, clean, spacious, friendliest owners, quiet and stunning location in the mountains. The best part of my stay: the food!! Probably the best I've had in Japan. Big portions to fuel up before or after your trek in Kamikochi. The owners help you with all your questions.
Nothing I didn't like. Everything was great for me.
