Breakfast made fresh to order and staff were responsive to dietary constraints, colleague is devout Muslim and I have some idiosyncratic tastes, both catered for and remembered for following days. Evening meal was limited choice but good and served to our requested time - quite late because of work commitments. Perhaps slightly expensive for quality but availability was a plus.

I had.a problem with internet connection. Was not resolved even though other rooms appeared Ok. Given I was working with colleagues globally this was a constraint - could not stay in office to work in the evening. There was flooding which is clearly not their fault and backup power generator worked but I ended up off line for a while - perhaps did me good to be so?

Location terrific for those engaged in United Nations activities -an easy and pleasant walk both early morning and evenings ... Also not far from a supermarket and restaurants (two easily within walking distance - I went to neither but they looked worth trying). About 1/2 to 3/4 hour from the airport by taxi ... Also - they continue to provide small containers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner plus soap tablets: such a plus (instead of those generic large containers of body wash and shampoo provided, now, in so many hotels - particularly the big chains).

Lovely circular staircase but would be wise to include some good lighting immediately overhead to ensure each stair is clearly defined ... easy to walk down but lighting specific to the staircase would be good. (This would not prevent my returning, but just a note for additional care.)

Ambience: the place is truly a home away from home. Quiet serene environment well-maintained garden. I enjoyed sitting on the terrace looking at the garden and listening to the birds sing. It was nice to come from a busy day of work and stay at this peaceful guest house. The host is also great everything went so smoothly and I enjoyed every bit of my stay

Excellent accommodation for business travellers. Very secure. I felt safe. I had dinner at the property a few times during my stay and the food was delicious. Rose, Agnes and the whole Orchid Homes team made me feel very welcome and right at home :)

Only downside was low water pressure in the bathroom. Apart from that, everything was excellent.

Ladies at the desk and kitchen were very nice and helpful. For the breakfast you may choose (eggs, toasts ecc), the room is nice, clean, the bed is comfortable, TV works and the garden is nice. The area is extremely safe (surrounded by embassies, UN builiding and so on..), close to tea plantage Kiambethu (about 15 min drive), to the city centre it takes about 30-40 minutes drive by car.

We did not have the breakfast, but we very much enjoyed the location and the facilities. Maggie was extremely friendly and Susan (online) was very helpful. The rooms were very clean and the beds comfortable and included mosquito nets. The bathroom is basic, but clean and correct. The hotel is greatly located in a safe area in Gigiri, where you can safely walk even at night to Village Market.

I missed having a bedside lamp to read in bed before sleeping. But that is really all!

A lovely home away from home during an extended worktrip. Orchid Homes are conveniently located near restaurants, the UN and ICRAF compounds, and the Village Market. Thanks to Rose, Agnes and the other staff for going out of their way to accommodate us. When I'm in Kenya, I'll definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely stay here. Personnel is very friendly. We were allowed to store some personal food in the fridge. Breakfast was very good, the fruits were tamu sana and the choice of food was good too. The coffee for breakfast was NOT instant, that was great :) The room was very clean and our room included a water boiler and coffee/tea.

Unfortunately our stay was too short...

It was a serene, calm environment for me, at the hospitality at the place was so heartwarming I wish to be there again for my next vacation

Everything at Orchid Homes was just on point.

The hotel staff go out of their way and it's very pleasant and unexpected (5*)! My next stay will definitely be here again. You can ask to diversify your breakfast and they will gladly agree. Felt almost at home!

No espresso and poor soundproofing. If there is espresso, I will be happy!
