Clean, friendly, comfortable and a good value. The staff are very friendly and the property is immaculate. A more modern, contemporary vibe than many other properties in the area. Based on music, location and overall vibe, I would say it's geared towards younger clientele.

The location is not too far (maybe a mile) from the center of the city BUT, it's a very steep descent into town and a steep ascent back to the hotel including the driveway and then stairs to the rooms. The sidewalks are very narrow and uneven and the cobblestone streets can be a challenge. It's a $5 USD cab ride from the hotel to city center so unless you are fairly fit and sure footed, plan on taking cabs. There are a few restaurants and shops close to the hotel but mostly you're going into the center of the city.

The hotel staff was professional and friendly. Spacious and comfy bed. Our room was very comfortable and very clean. I’m very picky when it comes to cleanliness. Clean, the linens were definitely washed appropriately. The cleaning crew pays attention to every detail, immaculate after every visit from cleaning staff. This was truly the first time I felt comfortable in a hotel room in quite awhile. L’Occitane toiletries, Turkish cotton robes and towels!

The climb from the street to the hotel was tricky. The drive way is way too steep. I suggest an alternate way to reach the hotel in the future. No elevator which meant it was hard to do a lot of shopping or wearing heels or any shoe other than sneakers.

The pillows were a little small and could be a bit more comfortable and there could have been a tv to watch some sports in the bar area!

Nice and clean room, and the terrace provides an extra value.

It’s not a good place for children because the pool is not working every day, and there are no additional activities for them in the property. I suffered with my 7 year old son that he wanted to be on the pool all day and we just could use it 2 hours in a 4-day stay, and I haven’t mention that just one day the pool was climate.

Herman was awesome!! Really helped me out with everything!! The BEST!

Food not so great. Location a little far from everything. Being a little older, walking to everything out of the question. Cabs were cheap though. But I would loved to have walked.

Everything was perfect! I will rate that place a 100% Staff super nice and and the way the received me and ny family was amazing. I will highly recommend Hilo Rojo

They tried to give us a different room, I went to reception and talked to the about it and gave us the room we paid for. And about breakfast the deal I got it was with breakfast included and they make it a little complicated saying it was not included. I went to reception and finally they agreed. Other that that I have no complaints.
