Beautiful hotel with a very friendly staff. The waiters at the restaurant were so lovely each and every time. Excellent location. Room service was done everyday. It was a great balance of beautiful hotel and still have a nature/ eco friendly feel to it. Since I was there for over a week, breakfast was included which was a HUGE help and very large portion.

Not much hot water and there were all of these wellness activities that I thought would be free for the guests. But they were not and didn't even give a discount for hotel guests (except for yoga). And they were expensive to join each one. For the price of the hotel, it was not right that they weren't included.

IKAL is a gorgeous, eco-conscious accommodation fully immersed in nature. I am so happy we chose here and not a typical, high-rise hotel. The beach was stunning, the staff extremely helpful (shout out to Sofia who made our stay so smooth!!) and the rooms/bathrooms really unique. The quality of the food and drinks at the restaurant was really great. As the paths are all sand, the housekeeping did a great job of keeping the room clean and the products in the shower smelled amazing. It really is a piece of paradise and I want to return someday! We were also there for the Day of the Dead celebrations which was really special.

The reason I didn't give full marks is because the accommodation is quite isolated. If you don't have a car you have to take a taxi or rent bikes to go to the supermarket even. The restaurant on site is great but if you want more variety you do need to get transport elsewhere. We really embraced the open bathroom, but with bugs and heavy rain, it might not be for everyone!

Cannot fault the room, restaurant food/staff, and location, the beach is gorgeous.

Sadly let down with the mini bar/fridge in the room. Not clear whatsoever as to whether there is a fee for usage. There is no price list and staff did not make a mention that it was not free. We were charged USD90 for 2 days worth of snacks and drinks. This could be avoided by leaving a price list or staff informing of a charge. Reception staff were unsympathetic of this.

Before this trip, whenever I was often dreaming of a Mexican Caribbean getaway, however, I couldn't even picture the magical world of Ikal Tulum Hotel. Where to start from? The stylishl Robinson Crusoe's huts, the easygoing vibes throughout, the delicious food offered at the restaurant, the genuinely kind and professional front desk team and the manager, the Yoga and healing session offerings, or the pristine beach with a view to the Tulum archeological site's temples? We're hooked for good! Planning already our return.

The treehouse concept was very cool. I was a bit apprehensive after reading google reviews and reviews here, but I suppose people will always find something to complain about. This is a very luxurious accommodation- but still rustic. Know what you are selecting! - you are in a simply constructed treehouse. It is not airtight. Expect a few bugs to get in. Expect the AC not to work particularly well - the open bathroom was plenty private. If you are super conservative, maybe not for you. - housekeeping was super prompt and kept our treehouse sand-free. - I found the staff to be very helpful. I did not encounter anyone named Nicki though. - wifi worked just fine. Able to send pictures via WhatsApp and stream. Certainly exceeded expectations - it is more remote than south beach, but I quite liked that. No loud bars nearby. Walk along the beach and you’ll find restaurants. You are not stuck here going to this restaurant… and by the way the food is fine and not more expensive than average. - the private pool was super clean. I’m still not sure how it remained free of any palm leaves etc! We had a nice little “birds nest” to perch among the trees. A bit rickety getting up. Would not recommend after a few cervezas. - there is a safe in the room and a lock. No it’s not the MOST secure. Again, you are in a tree house. Set expectations accordingly.

Construction going on behind us was a bit annoying. But started around 9:30 and ended around 5… it was too hot to be in the treehouse then anyway! The sun was already streaming in.

This place is a gem. The moment you arrive you feel peace and serenity amidst this jungle glamping with views overlooking the ocean. The tents are very clean and we loved the outdoor bathrooms. The reception staff will do anything to make you feel home, i cannot praise them enough. We had a wonderful time and felt sad to leave.

Every single restaurant bill comes with a note to tip the waiter....whether you order a glass of coke or ask for bread...which makes you feel like you are obliged to because the waiters expects you to as they will also immediately look at the note when you hand it back. Many guests were complaining about this. Also the menu could be a bit more varied, especially breakfast.

1. Liked the Location, it combine a Jungle and Beach. 2. The room was very small but nice. 3. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

1. We booked this hotel because its an Ocean Front property but there was no warning that we couldn't swim due to enormous sea weeds that polluted the beach and made swimming in the ocean impossible. A fare warning about it would make a huge impact about our decision of choosing an ocean front property. 2. The locks for the room are old and we had many issues to enter the room. 3. The water in the shower take forever to get hot and the stream is very weak.

I felt from the Villa " lookout" uneven steps ... very high ... almost from the top. I could not hold myself because the handrail was way to thick. I am not sure how I did not die and not broke anything. My leg went up and I went down about 2 floors high... had facing down ... side ways ( trying to grab into something) ... banging my ribs all the way down. I wake up in the bottom on my side... legs up... and could not breath..... my muscle around my ribs were suffocating. I called a taxi to the ER and nothing was broken. It has been a month and 1/2 and not all pain is gone. They need to add a "rope" or a smaller "handrail" next to the trunk size handrail.

The jungle like decoration and vibe is amazing. The room was nice and clean. The location is nice because it’s not on the main street and its super quiet. You are still just a few minutes away from the main street with all the restaurants and bars though.

I really didn’t enjoy the waiters asking so desperately for tips. One morning I had to ask 2 times for the bill and waited about 15mins while I saw them attenting other guests, and when I paid and left, they shouted for me to come back because I didn’t leave a tip!! I gave them tips every day except that time because it took them ages to bring me the check! Also I got a weird vibe from the front desk girl when we had to pay for the room charges, she didn’t want to show me the tickets and she did the calculations like 10 times and it was a different number each time….

Everything!!! The seclusion, privacy, greenery, the decor, location and amenities! Simple, relaxing, peaceful and casual!!! Exactly what my husband and I love!!! No rushing, waits, a lot of people, quiet. No loud, drunk and rowdy guests.

Honestly there isn’t really anything. I would simply suggest and think it would be so convenient to have a simple coffee maker to enjoy first thing in the morning on top deck or the hammock. Perfection It wasn’t a huge deal but I did request conditioner about 4-5x but never got it.
