I had completed the EBC trek and decided to book this hotel for a couple of nights to relax post the trek. This is by no understatement when I say that this hotel was one of the best places I've stayed at in a very long time. There is rich culture and history embedded in every inch of the property. The staff were so friendly, food was excellent, and the hotel manager even gave me a free upgrade to their royal suite! It truly was one of the best experiences of my life and I will always pick this property for future visits to Kathmandu. If I would give an 11 but 10 is the max I can rate. Thank you Baber Mahal Vilas for treating me like a King. You have my entire heart ❤️ .

We had a lovely week long stay at the Barber Mahal and couldn’t have been happier. The manager Prabin was extremely attentive and helpful, always happy to stop for a chat or provide information. The front desk was also extremely helpful and always greeted us with a smile. They were happy to help organise trips for us and book taxis. The rest of the staff were always polite and courteous and we always felt looked after. The hotel driver was also very good, we always felt safe in the car and on arrival he would help find guides or buy tickets to various sites. I can also highly recommend the massage service, much needed after our long flight. We had breakfast included which was good but slightly limited in options. However there was always a selection of eggs available prepared in a variety of ways. A real highlight was the fresh Puris which were made to order. They were absolutely delicious! We tried the rooftop restaurant which was also good, again the freshly made naan were simply stunning. I really enjoyed the tandoori chicken , chicken tikka and paneer. Simple food, simply delicious. The rooms were clean and comfortable with AC and the bathrooms had good showers. Fresh bottled water is provided in the rooms daily. The pool and gym are on the small side, but there is a sauna which was good. Location wise, it’s a 10 min taxi to thamel for which we paid around 400-500 rupees which we didn’t barter much. It was around 15 mins to the airport which was around 500-700 rupees Overall very content with our stay!

as mentioned above the pool and gym facilities could be larger. the spa could offer more services as the masseuse is very good.

Quiet hotel with an incredible team of people (kind, helpful), good WIFI (I needed to work delivering trainings and it was flawless) and a spacious room (desk/ work station, living space, balcony). After a long trip, having everything I needed in the hotel (great sauna) was great to rest and work. The house is beautiful, although some areas need some maintenance.

absolutely everything, from the moment of arrival, was amazing! the staff is so very kind and helpful - any wish which you would have - they will make it happen! The hotel itself is a beautiful architectural gem - each room, hall, and courtyard is full of history, design and amazing atmosphere. There are various restaurants that all serve fine dishes (avg European prices) and amazing service. It is a home away from home, and absolutely worth it. I stayed after trekking Everest Base Camp and could not ask for a better place to stay and relax!

the location is a bit far from the center / Thamel (about 2 km, 20 minutes walk on main streets and not touristy at all, or a 7 minutes taxi drive will cost you about 500 NRS) the hotel was going through renovations when I stayed in September 22, and it was a bit noisy and some parts were under construction. Nonetheless, it was quiet in the evening times, and the staff made sure guests were enjoying their stay despite the little lift up ;) I am more than curious to see how this turns up!

Loved the elegance, cleanliness and hospitality. The staff served us to the best of their ability. Breakfast was freshly prepared each morning and we enjoyed our stay.

1) Complimentary tea/coffee did not come with any creamer/milk. 2) Although it is nice to have a chef prepare fresh breakfast items on spot but it is also important that hand gloves are used when handling food. I saw the chef pulling something (dirt most likely) out from bread loaves with his bare hands and trust me it does not look good.

The most fantastic part of this property is the wonderful staff!! They are so helpful and attentive and pleasant. We were given a wonderful tour of the hotel when we came in and it really is a charming property. We had a lovely stay at this hotel and they went out of their way to help us when my daughter fell and hurt herself. Food-their kitchen serves delicious food! They have a variety of dining options on site (as some are not managed by the hotel directly) Airport pick up and drop-well managed. Rooms-are well appointed and comfortable Sightseeing-please ask for Mr Deepchandra! He is a wonderful host and very knowledgeable of the history of Kathmandu.

Breakfast: The choice was good. The staff were smiley and at hand to help. Everything was freshly prepared and just what we wanted. The room was upgraded to a suite and it was simply wonderful. Decorated in traditional style with lovely 'objets d'art'. The complex is fascinating to walk around with a good choice of restaurants (4) and shops of all sorts. The spa is very pleasant and the massage was exceptional.

I got very lost in the complex. I had to go out to the restaurants etc with someone else as there are no signs to anything. When I asked the way, shopkeepers were unable to tell me the way to the bar, reception etc. as the restaurants and shops are not part of the hotel. Hotel staff, however, were always helpful. For people like me, a map of the whole place would be helpful.

The infrastructure was BEAUTIFUL. Architecture of different styles that exuded class and timelessness (rather than tackiness). Absolutely first-class service from the hotel service, going above and beyond to make the hotel guests’ experiences smooth and very enjoyable. I love that the location was not in the crowded city centre, so the nights are extremely quiet for rest. Yet, the hotel is also not too far from the city centre and all major attractions. I have recommended the Baber Mahal Vila Hotel to all who would listen.

Stayed here in May for 2D/1N. The staff and the accommodation was excellent. We were upgraded to the biggest suite on arrival. As we were travelling with our 10 month old daughter, a separate cot was provided for her as well. The service during our entire stay was exceptional. The hotel seemed to be centrally located with all the spots within a 10/15 mins drive. There are multiple options for cuisines/restaurants to chose from. I'll definitely be staying here again whenever I visit Kathmandu next.

I loved staying at Baber Mahal. the architecture is beautiful. and my room was spacious and clean, comfortable, had eveything I needed. the staff are very friendly. the general manager Prabin was the best. he made sure our stay was impeccable. he even helped us plan our itinerary after we checked out, he connected us to the right people and would answer in minutes. thank you so much for that !!
