- The Fort Resort has one of the best locations in Nagarkot. One can see the Himalayas right in front of the hotel. - The hotel is very quiet and clean. The garden is beautiful. - The staff is extremely friendly. - The breakfast is really tasty.

- It was cold in the hotel room. - Somehow, I did not find the place as cosy as I thought in advance. - Beforehand, I asked the hotel if Mastercard is accepted and I was told it is. However, this was not the case when it was time to leave and pay. Luckily, I had some extra cash with me.

Fort Resort is situated on a ridge with views of the Nagarkot ridge and mountains. The view from our room was excellent and I suspect we got one of the best rooms on this property. The gardens of the resort are truly wonderful! Except for one evening, we could not really see the mountains in the distance due to clouds/fog, but we did see snow-capped mountains that evening when it was a little clear. Sunrise was fantastic and the rooms face the sunrise. The staff of this resort is truly exceptionally amazing! I felt special as a guest, but I think they treat everyone this way, and I think it is fantastic that they are able to make each guest feel special. Our room was very spacious and in a quiet corner. There is air conditioning, hot water, a hair dryer on request, room slippers, extra blankets, a candle for powercuts (these do happen!), a thermos for hot water, and the room was spotlessly clean. The wifi was good worked without any issues for us. The food in the resort restaurant is simple and delicious, and not especially expensive. We appreciated that the staff does not try to upsell things to you and makes genuine recommendations on what is good/unique to try. Breakfast was good, with juices, eggs, sausages, etc. The resort is about a 20 minute walk away from the main town and generally quiet (unless there is a large party of entitled and loud guests ...thankfully they departed one day into our stay). On the whole our stay was very relaxing, and what we were looking for.

Bring your own toiletries. The bathroom has soap, a dental kit, and a tube of shampoo but not much else. There are shops a 10 min walk away, though. I am also not sure why a simple Nepali thali set should be priced so high ...although in general food prices were alright. And last, this is not something I disliked, but just a note: you cannot really see the mountains from many of the cottages which are situated a little bit lower than the main building, although the cottages have their own appeal. I was glad I chose a room to stay in the main building.

Mountain view from our room was excellent. We were lucky enough experiencing Himalaya range in clear sunny weather. Breakfast and other foods (lunch and dinner) were very good with reasonable options. Staffs were very caring, friendly, and helping, they really own the property. The resort maintains a wonderful garden, that added an extra pleasure.

Shower curtain in the bathroom needs to change. Room's floor and furniture including cushion covers demand a new look.

A beautiful heritage building with gorgeous features, lots of native timbers and terracotta tiles, set in well tended and cared for gardens, with a heavenly view. The room was surprisingly large, with a good quality bed, lounge suite, and modern bathroom. Attention to detail had been paid to the lighting with many options for setting different moods. They provide an iron and ironing board, a kettle and tea making facilities with complimentary shortbread & fruit basket, and have no problems bringing meals to your room for no extra charge. The food was excellent with generous portions, the staff were attentive kind and thoughtful, they treated me like a queen. I loved staying there and would go back again.

I loved the whole experience

great view of the mountains and sun rise, beautiful garden, alpine feeling. kids loved it, EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION for hiking with pick up in Katmandu, dropped us off at Chengu Narayan for the day hike to Nagarkot with an arranged guide, half way the van met up in case some of our family wanted to drive to the hotel, our luggage was brought to the hotel and ready when we arrived, next day with guide hiked again and van met up again with our luggage at the suspension bridge and drove us back to Katmandu,

It was a genuinely pleasant experience! Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, and a nice room with a well working AC. The water in the bathroom could have been a bit hotter, but no big problem. It was a typical Nepalese atmosphere on a quite prominent level. Not cheap, but worth it. I am sure I'll be back.

Beside the lukewarm water in the bathroom and the times without electricity, nothing comes to my mind. And for the fact that it wasn't clear, so there were no mountain views, the resort cannot be blamed.

There is no question about it - this is the BEST PLACE in Nagarkot you can find! The resort has beautiful architecture and large comfortable rooms full of light, the views are incredible, and is surrounded by a beautiful beautiful garden, oh the garden! I spent hours sitting on the terrace just watching the eagles fly by and listening to the forest... An incredible place where you instantly feel relaxed and happy! The staff is attentive and helpful, everything is perfect, there are many options in the garden to sit and relax...I couldn’t be happier! In fact I booked for 2 days and was reluctant to leave after 4...Oh and the food was just delicious too...

Everything was great!

The Fort Resort was one of the places in which I was happy to spend a bit more money after trekking a bit through Nepal. The compound is a peace of heaven and very well maintained. I loved the little details in my room (which was huge) like extra blankets, a thermos or a candle. The food I had for dinner was really nice. Breakfast was standard. I personally loved the location but if you want to be close to Nagarkot’s center be aware that it’s a bit of a walk.

When I was there (end of October) it was quiet chilly in the mornings and evenings outside. The hotel’s big reception area offers nice sofas and tables to sit on but because it’s so big I think it takes a lot of time to heat up (if there is a heating system). I had to wear my jacket for breakfast and dinner because I felt pretty cold.

The peaceful quiet gardens were divine. Sitting out on the garden chairs listening to the birds waking up. The buffet breakfast was great, with good variety. The staff were exceptional.

The smog was so thick ALL the time. You wouldn't know there was a mountain range to be seen. So sad and disappointing, man's disgrace to nature. The best time to go is Sept or October after the wet season, so the smog is "washed" away. There is garbage everywhere in Kathmandu and on the road to and in nagarkot.

Beautiful and serene, with impeccable service. The property was quiet and there didn’t seem to be too much happening, but it was the perfect relaxing retreat to cap off our trip. Amazing views, and even if the weather is cloudy and you can’t see the mountains you feel as if you’re perched high in the clouds, with eagles soaring outside of your window in the cool, fresh air. The design of the space is great, with traditional architectural details and vintage lighting throughout. The food was excellent, which was great because there are no other restaurants super close. We looked at two rooms and chose the one with the fireplace which had great light and a separate sitting room. Highly recommend this gem for a few days of escape!

Some additional information on things to do around the area would have been great, though they did give us a simple map with some nature walks highlighted, which we used.
