Fletcher Hotel Gilde

Room was clean and functional. Breakfast was as expected, nice. There is a beautiful back garden, I guess it will be even more beautiful in summer. The building is historical, you can feel it in the lobby or looking at the building from outside but in the room you don't see any proof of being in a historical building ethic was very good for me. I like seeing historical places but I would like to sleep in an environment I am used to.

On Saturday night there was some noise outside, on the street. It felt like window was open but it was not. On sunday night it was much better

In my opinion an excellent place, a wonderful old building which still has its old features intact, and in a pretty amazing town. If reception is unstaffed you just ring 9 on their telephone and the barman comes to help you. About 10 mins walk from railway station. Lovely outside garden/courtyard area for a beer (ask for bottled varieties for something different, I enjoyed the fruity La Trappe Dubbel). Good breakfast, normal northern European buffet style, with choice of breads, meats, cheeses, cereals, fresh fruit salad, dried fruit, fresh fruit, yoghurts, egg and bacon, good coffee machine, two fruit juices, served from 7 am daily, and you can take it down the steps to the garden if you want. Friendly staff and being Holland they all speak English better than many English people. I asked for a quiet room and got one, small but with double stained glass windows that opened on this hot night.

My only comments are that I wish they would change the jams away from those little plastic portions to jam jars, and maybe in summer cover the fruit salad and dried fruit with something to keep the fruit flies and a wasp off.

The location is perfect for a city trip. The building is very beautiful. Good breakfast and clean rooms. The courtyard is lovely to sit in on a warm day. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. It's refreshing to find a hotel that isn't packed with disposable soap and shampoo packages, but uses dispensers in the bathroom. I love coffee and tea in my room, for that first cup in the morning, before you go down for breakfast.

The lift was broken when we were there. The receptionist let it slip that this was the case for quite a while. Not good for a 3-story building: it makes it difficult for disabled people. The boxspring beds are not good for my husband and his back, but unfortunately these beds seem te be the standard in all hotels. A sticker on our toiletpaper. Really?

My room was at the top of the building. It was difficult to find but once there, I was pleased with it. Interesting building. OK breakfast. Decent value.

Reception seemed to be only sporadically manned. Finding one's way around the building is v difficult. There needs to be a better signing system to the rooms (of which the numbering is a bit bizarre). However, these are not reasons to avoid this place.

The location is perfect for discovering Deventer. Situated in the pedestrian zone so very quiet for a down town location. The building and common areas are beautiful. Good breakfast, very friendly staff.

Rooms are very basic, you get the feeling nothing was changed since the monks left, including the fact there was no hairdryer (I guess they never needed one)

The staff was really friendly and helpful. When I thought I lost my sunglasses when I left, they took the time to look for them. The location was great, there was a place to park real close to the hotel. The breakfast was also very good with a lot of variety.

For me personally the matras on the bed was a bit too soft, but otherwise there's nothing I can think of.

historically beautiful building. staff were amazing. great breakfasts. nothing too much trouble.

there was not a thing that I did not appreciate. in an historical building there are always some challenges, however for me travel is about enjoying culture

I had a very nice talk with person doing the night reception, he told me about the history of the building. I had a nice breakfast, and although I had been warned by the night reception to come early or late since it could fill up quickly, I was offered to have breakfast in the bar. That was very nice actually since it has a good view on the garden, and extra coffee and tea water were brought in for the guests sitting in the bar

Amazing building of the hotel! But be careful - the hotel is in pedestrian area, but you can leave your can in the street nearby. Just choose parking zone 2 instead of zone 6 - its much cheaper and free during the night

The room is outdated and needs to be renovated

We were amazed that the beautiful historic building was actually our hotel! With a window on a cute shopping street and a spacious room we felt quite spoiled ☺️ The price/quality balance was v good and breakfast buffet an excellent start to our day

Unfortunately due to current situation the dining room wasn't open to eat out breakfast but there's certainly nothing the polite staff could do about THAT. The whole city was pretty much closed
