Post-Plaza Hotel & Grand Café

We loved this hotel! It was beautifully designed, comfortable and in a great location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well here. The breakfast was an additional cost, but definitely worth it. The fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh bread were highlights. They have a room off the receptions with a fireplace and games that we enjoyed visiting. The hotel was quiet and we didn't hear other travelers when in our rooms. The location was perfect with so many choices of things to do (museums, shopping, restaurants!) and see right outside the door. You didn't have to ever drive anywhere. I am already thinking about returning here and bringing friends.

The hotel doesn't offer parking but did send us to an underground parking lot that was a 5 minute walk. This is fine is summer, but a little unpleasant in cold rainy weather. The parking lot only cost 10 Euros per day, so it was a great option.

Cycle friendly with secure covered storage underground. Fast turn around laundry service - invaluable after cycling in Frisian rain Super-helpful and friendly front if house team. Great location , 5 mins bike ride to station. Leeuwarden is an excellent base from which to explore all Friesland and/or make the 11 Cities tour (elfstedentocht), either by bike, train or both combined.

The cafe is pricey for dinner and breakfast but excellent quality. It didn't bother me but some mice scurry about the floor of the café.

The room was a very good size with comfy beds. The bathroom was really nice and the shower was great. Plenty of space to put clothes, shoes and coats and had tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Had a small but useful mini-fridge located just below the desk. Lights in the room were fantastic and I never found myself using the main room light as even the smaller bedside lights gave off ample light. The window opened just wide enough to bring in some nice air and the AC was located above the door. It worked a treat and did significantly cool down the room - when I travelled the weather was very hot and humid and the AC was fantastic. The location is great, I travelled to meet a friend who lived in the city and the travel from his house to the hotel was only a 15 minute walk. It was also only a 15 minute walk to and from the train station. Due to it being centrally located you are not far away from shops or tourist attractions. The breakfast was great with the option of getting bacon and scrambled eggs every morning. Plenty of options to choose from with food. Water, Juice, Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate were available to drink. The staff were very friendly as always made sure to say Good Morning or Good Evening to you. The rooms were always clean and tidy. Never came back to my room with it having not been cleaned.

Nothing. I wasn't there much of the time as I spent most of my time with my friend walking around the city or hanging out in his place, although any time I was there, there was nothing for me to complain about. If you're going to spend more time in the hotel then you might find things personally you don't like but for me as somewhere I went to sleep, wash and eat breakfast, I found the experience to be very pleasant and always clean and tidy.

The Post-Plaza is conveniently located in the centre of Leeuwarden. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I liked that they called me a few days before and asked if I had any questions. The breakfast was good and the dinner in the restaurant was very tasty. We stayed in the superior room which has air conditioning. The beds were ok, a bit too soft for my liking. The highlight of this hotel is the restaurant, a beautifully restored post office. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much.

Just a few little things, really.There is no minibar in the room, just a mini fridge. The bathroom had a shower and a bath tub but in a 4* hotel I expect a double wash basin. Although dinner in the restaurant was very tasty the portions are quite small. And 6.25 Euro for a 0.3 can of local beer is just too much.

The hotel is just lovely. Its location is brilliant for my purposes. The staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. I had a problem with my mattress and it was sorted out promptly. The breakfast is very good and is held on a very lovely room. Would recommend.

Last time we stayed, we had an enormous room and our children’s twin room was a fair size. This time my twin was rather a squash. On my first night there was an issue with the mattress; it felt like a divot was gouged out of it. But that was quickly sorted out when I mentioned it to housekeeping staff.

I loved my stay here! The Hotel and rooms were so beautiful and the staff was amazing! They made me feel so welcomed! The room is so nicely decorated, I loved the bed, and the bathroom was also super nice! It has a super nice bar and restaurant, which used to be the old post office.    It's not far to walk to the train station, maybe about 8 minutes. The Hotel is very close to the city center, just a couple of minutes walk and you have shopping, bars and restaurants nearby. I would stay again for sure !

Nothing, was perrfect!

Lovely short stay at Post-Plaza Hotel for our very first time in Leeuwarden. The hotel was perfectly located in the center of town, the room was very nice and spacious with an (unexpected) enormous terrace, a comfortable bed and good shower. We had a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant and later in the evening we had a drink in the bar and enjoyed a singer performance. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, instead we enjoyed a very good one at Bakker Bart.

Everything! What a superb hotel. Whoever did the interior design for that place deserves a medal! Wherever you look its beautiful. And very tastefully integrated with the old features of the building. It once was a post office, and the last time I was there it was exactly that. So when I walked in I was gobsmacked! Staff couldn't do enough and where very friendly and chatty. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and full of local produce and delicious drinks. Definitely staying there again when visiting next!

Breakfast was good. Staff were very nice and accommodating. Location exceptional and near city center; walking distance to everything. Room was large and comfortable but the television was placed in an awkward location so couldn’t watch news unless I stood directly in front of the television. The property does not offer umbrellas for use, so I had to run through the rain to get to a store to purchase an umbrella. Other than the minor incident with the umbrella, the property, customer service and location were great.

No umbrellas available for guest use, so had to trek through the rain to find a store to purchase an umbrella.

Overall experience. Bar and breakfast room excellent!

Check-in and check-out. Too long lines, had to wait forever. On check-out I put down my keycard at the reception desk, because it took too long, very inefficient. I got then a phone call if my credit card could be used. Of course, because that was why I presented it the previous day on check-in. Your check-in and check-out process is archaic, check-out is irrelevant, just let people put theit key in a box.
