March 2023

The Abbey Court Motel property is very compact, making for some tricky manoeuvring of our rental car wagon when entering and exiting it, but we managed it OK and we certainly enjoyed sitting quietly on the decking at the front of our room in the privacy of very pleasant garden surroundings while chatting to our friendly neighbours. While not over spacious, our room was comfortable and was kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Our cheerful, obliging host, Vicki, was readily helpful in various ways. Abbey Court is very conveniently close to both the headquarters of Wilsons, one of the two main tourism operators along the coast of the spectacular Abel Tasman National Park, and an excellent takeaway food shop just around the corner. In addition, the Motueka town centre is just a short drive away up High Street, offering a good range of dining & shopping options. We loved sea kayaking at nearby Kaiteriteri and taking a drive to 3 impressive lookouts on the winding Golden Valley road at Upper Takaka before descending to the Riwaka Valley and walking a short distance to the beautiful Riwaka Resurgence (where the river comes out of the bottom of the mountainside at the end of the valley). The absolute highlight though was to be ferried in (and out) very proficiently by Wilsons for a scenic 4.5 km rainforest walk in the Abel Tasman National Park which was well worth the considerable expense & physical exertion involved.

Nothing really - all good, including the excellent motel wifi and cable TV. Our visit was topped off at the end by the stunning drive to Murchison out along the scenic, fertile Motueka River Valley, including a stop at the impressively long and old Pokororo Swing Bridge!

We liked lots! We called to say we'd be late and had a very friendly and helpful reception. Vicki was a wonderful host. Instructions were easy to follow. Everything clean and comfy. The room had an easy to use and effective heat pump. Fab little kitchen. Neat little bottles of milk in the fridge. There were lovely chockies on the bed and the cookies with tea and coffee are always appreciated! With a lovely outlook from the kitchen table to the backyard we watched fantails flitting about in the trees as we had breakfast :)

Nothing, we liked everything. It took a minute to work out how to use the hotplate. But we got there :)

The place was just how one wants it to be. It was bright, spacious and well equipped. We particularly liked to alcove to store suitcases and keep them out of the way. It was also excellently located for hiking in Abel Tasman National Park.

Not something the proprietors could do anything about, but we had a bit of bad luck with the restaurants. There were two within walking distance. Both should have been open, but were not.

Dear Vicki, Your beautiful motel is the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in. Our villa overlooked the garden which was so pleasant to have breakfast, front row seats in. The room was decorated so nicely which was bright and so comfortable and well appointed with appliances throughout. The kitchen was great to cook in. After our days spent in Abel Tasman National Park it was wonderful to come home to the most comfortable accommodation. There was also a laundry to do your washing, which helped immensely. Thankyou for a wonderful stay in your magic motel at the gateway to paradise, Abel Tasman NP and being so cheery each day. We wish you only the best of things to come. Cheers Cecily and John from OZ ☆☆☆☆☆

It was perfect!!

We stayed in a superior studio in early March. The small motel is set amongst mature gardens with parking close to the rooms. The accommodation was very clean and it was kept that way throughout our stay by the daily service. The room was a good size with a large comfortable bed. It had a kitchenette but we only really used this for breakfasts as there was a good Take Away shop close by (K T's on King Edward Street) which did great fish & chips.

The unit was very clean and comfortable and felt homely. Lots of power points which is great these days! The host was very welcoming and friendly also.

The bathroom was lovely and clean but we didn't like the shower head. It sprayed too finely for me, I like a good dumping of water when I shower. Not a big problem but just so they know.

Fantastic location, very clean, the cleaning staff were lovely and although we didn't meet the hosts, they kept in contact and ensured we were comfortable with our stay. Room was spacious, beds were comfortable and bathroom water pressure was fantastic. What more could you ask for? Bonus of the little grey cat who came to visit us and made our day. 5 * Accommodation.

Nothing at all.

Our host Vicki was so welcoming and helpful. We loved the unit layout and the fact that it was serviced daily. The laundry and dishwasher was a bonus. We also liked that Vicki didn’t welcome us with a request for immediate payment. Abbey Court was my husband’s favourite motel on this trip.

Very clean, tidy and modern kitchen/bathroom. Excellent for groups as we had the 4 bedroom unit. Two showers, two toilets. Have stayed before and will definitely return to stay again. We ran resort cleaning in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast and this room was 5 STAR! On-site Manager was lovely and very helpful.
