Location excellent. Super clean and modern well-appointed rooms. Beautiful spa bath in our room which we enjoyed. Bed was extra large and very comfortable.

During busy times, public holiday weekend, the pool area gets extremely crowded and loud from morning till night. So it wasn’t as peaceful as we would have liked. One group of noisy guests totally took over the pool area and that annoyed us immensely as we would have liked to use it. Parking, what a nightmare. If there is 1 carpark per room why not paint numbers on them? I believe guests of room guests were parking in the carpark. You pay enough for the room so should have an allocated car park.

everything. we had the one bedroom apartment with lake view. there was nothing we didn't like about the apartment. It was spacious, quiet, fab view of the lake, good sized and comfortable bed and the managers and staff were friendly, helpful and offered good advice about the Taupo area and places to eat. We loved walking around the lake to the coffee van about 1 km towards town where locals and tourists mix. Had a swim in the lake one morning and the water was at a really pleasant temperature. A nice thing to do after the coffee.

nothing. this is no fault of the resort or the staff but the nearest restaurant at Millenium (about 5 mins walk) had a pretty basic menue and we didn't get a good vibe when we rolled up one night. We were told it was fully booked and yet the place was empty and we were offered a table outside but with the sun out and setting so it wasn't an option. The yacht club about 10 mins further on served only pizzas and they were ok. Otherwise it's a short drive to some good eating options.

We went for the ground floor room because there were beds for 4 and because it meant the kids could walk straight out of the room and into the fabulous, warm pool. They loved it. We missed out on the view of the lake .... which would be great from upstairs rooms ... but the property has private access to the wonderful lakeside pathway and an easy walk into town. The second double bed was a pull-out couch and the main room was a little cramped when it was out for sleeping, but really not a problem. The huge bonus was the separate ensuite bathroom off the main bedroom. This means there is one bathroom for the kids and one for the parents ... what a luxury when travelling! :-) Everything was clean, tidy and well presented and the staff were lovely.

Nothing to complain about! We would definitely stay again.

The Reef was lovely. There was a minor problem, since resolved and caused by works outside the hotels control. The managers dealt with it beautifully. We were given alternative, and as it happens, much upgraded accommodation at the hotel for the next 2 nights, which the managers did in a very thoughtful and friendly manner. The hot pool by night was lovely, as was location on lakeside. .

Was quite a walk into Toupo itself for bars restaurants etc, but easy drive with loads of parking.

Such an awesome getaway, nothing but relaxation. The staff are amazing, nothing was an issue. The room was perfect, view over the lake, spa bath with the sliding window to take in the view was great, excellent kitchenette facility. The jacuzzi and heated pool are simply perfect - 2 hrs lazy time in both areas, couldn't get enough, walking from our room in the provided robes and simply chill. 5 star experience. And a massive thanks to the staff and manager's.

Karen was super friendly and welcoming helping us to get settled in after a long drive. The room size was really generous and though our room was on the roadside, it was silent inside. The kitchenette allowed us to make some great meals, and the use of the communal barbecue was a treat. The resort is right on the lake, so we cooked up some burgers on the barbecue and ate them on the beach watching the sunset. The onsite thermal spa was a lovely treat, and the pool is a good size to swim a few lengths. There's a hot water beach just a 2 minute walk from the resort. Don't forget to BYOB! Great location, well equipped facilities. Laundry room uses an honesty box. The heated thermal pool and spa is lovely or if you prefer the lake is a 2 minute stroll down the drive. Rooms are very neat and tidy and come well equipped for a great nights stay. We had a spa tub in our bathroom. Bike hire is available and free gym access (in town) is an added bonus. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Will bring the whole family here to stay next time.

This is a quality property. From check-in to check-out the staff (particularly John the duty manager) were extremely helpful with advice and information. Sitting on the balcony looking out over the lake was so relaxing after a busy day of walking and touring. Then a quick drive and you're in the midst of heaps of dining options. This was the only property to provide real milk on a road trip with many hotels.

Nothing to do with the property - the weather - as would've liked to have taken one of their bikes for a ride along the lakefront.

Perfect family getaway. We had 3 rooms for 3 families and they were close together so easy access to each other. The pool, spa and BBQ were awesome - we made good use of them especially with 4 children. Walk out the gate and you are right on the lake front and boardwalk. We all took bikes and rode each day - absolutely fabulous! All of the staff were great and friendly which made for an even better holiday. We will be back for sure!!!!

Nothing we didn't like at all - just perfect!

The reef resort was so relaxing a fantastic place to unwind before the school holidays. We stayed in a poolside studio which was bigger and better than I'd hoped for. Our room (number 2) had a glimpse of the lake which was lovely. The pools were beautiful and plenty of swimming towels at our disposal in the shared area outdide our door which was impressive, I've been places that you had to ask for extra towels so I liked that touch. Clean ammentities, basic cooking equipment in our room and there were 2 bbqs by the pool which were clean and functional with containers including utensils oil seasoning etc. It was a comfortable bed, tv had sky and netflix available and down the drive there was easy access to the lake. I will 100% be back.
