Ustedalen Hotel Geilo

The hotel has a lovely view, but you have to ensure that you are on the side overlooking the valley! We asked for a "quiet room", so I assume that is the trick. The windows in the room were large - actually from wall to wall - so that one from the room could enjoy the view. Breakfast was good, but we were asked to wait until 08:00, after the group of tourists travelling Norway finished their breakfast. This is understantable (that they want to start early, and just be their group), but it is not very convenient for other guests.

Clean and spacious room with a great view of the slopes, cozy bar with a good selection of drinks and food, as well as friendly staff who alway make sure you're well taken care of. There's a ski equipment storage room, a pool, and a shuffleboard. Reception was quite helpful with providing info about the bus timetables and with luggage storage.

Smell of Chlorine on the first floor (probably from the pool). Also, housekeeping opened my room twice while I was in my room, but I just found it funny and luckily I was in decent condition when they opened the door.

The only reason I didn't give this hotel full marks is because of the waitress attending to us during breakfast. For some reason she didn't like us from the moment we stepped in. We went at 9':30 and she was already preparing the tables for lunch, so she gave us some unpleasant looks. Instead of telling us where to sit, she let us go to a table and then told us not to sit there. Then she asked us for the room number (fair enough), followed by "Did you pay for breakfast?" I mean, why ask me that question? She had the room number and she was still going to check anyway. Finally, few minutes past 10:00 she asked us to leave because she wanted to setup out table with cutlery for lunch. Pity because other than that everything was fine.

This is one of those little timeless family run mountain chalets you might be tempted to keep secret so it’s not fully booked next year. Its a very traditional little place, with lovely friendly owners and staff who make you feel so welcome. Theres a really nice view you can enjoy during breakfast or from the living room. This is in a nice little spot that doesn’t have too many tourists, there’s a nice little sauna, and a fire to warm up by. The food and service at breakfast and dinner was another level, such a lovely surprise and completely unexpected (when I considered the cost, location and that it’s a mountain chalet catering for sometimes quite a lot of people). Besides the fact the food was delicioso, they also catered for all different dietary needs/requests without batting an eyelid or making people feel like a bother. What a lovely trip!

From the first 16 seconds, when I started talking to the receptionist, I felt that everything would be fine.A friendly receptionist with a big smile and very efficient gave me the keys to the room, and the information about the room, parking, Wi-Fi, breakfast.I received a clean, airy room with a large window and a superb view.The room is furnished with new, clean and useful things. Clean and nice-smelling bed linen, wooden parquet on the floor. Very clean bathroom equipped with everything you need.

The room is different then the photos: a bit smaller, the bed was smaller and lower so for some people it's hard to get up from. In the shower, there is no barrier to the water so it flows out. Uncomfortable. The hotel restaurant close at 21:00 even though it's mentioned until 22:00 in their website.

Rooms were fairly spacious with wonderful views. Breakfast options were plentiful and again with beautiful views. Small swimming pool and sauna were a bonus but very busy late afternoon after skiers returned!

The rooms didn't have much storage - small area to hang items but no chest of drawers which was a bit of a nuisance for being able to unpack

We loved everything about our stay. When we arrived we were upgraded and had a fabulous room which opened onto a terrace and had a view across the valley. There is a lovely pool and a sauna - perfect for relaxing after skiing. The restaurant and lounge were very cosy and the staff helpful and friendly.

Room, hotel facilities and staff were very good. Breakfast was excellent.

The room had a kitchen facility but no equipment (pans, plates, cutlery etc). We did cook in the room using a bit of ingenuity but this did limit us. I would have expected that facilities such as pool, gym etc would not have come as paid for extras.

The room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was good and staff very friendly. the first room we were given had a kitchenette which made a funny buzz sound, so we were changed to a different room very quickly.

The pool wasn’t open (being refurbished) which was disappointing as it was the reason I booked the place to start with. I feel that should be advertised on Booking. it would be nice to have a fridge and coffee making facilities in the room.
