- location of the hotel and the view were exceptional. I can only imagine how nice is there when it is summer or winter ski season - although 8 km from Oslo center, it is very good connected with train line T1
- very poor wifi signal in our room; at the end we used our eSIM signal - you can not adopt the temperature in the rooms and bytheway, our room was pretty cold (inconvinient if you want take a shower) - no mini bar (or fridge) in the rooms - TV with total 10- 12 channels and all of them are in norvegian language - in this period of time (November), the hotel and surroundings have not too much too offer and therefore I find it a bit overpriced in October and November

I really liked the view from above 500m down into the bay. Breakfast was super, and dinner taken at the small restaurant was delicious. The room equipment offered everything I needed, heating perfect, no bad smell. Funny detail : some joker had turned my "make up the room" sign, so that it said "don't disturb" When I came back in the evening the room was of course not made. No hassle, the crew was just perfectly amiable.
I did not like the asthmatic car battery loading stations on the parking but there, the hotel is not to blame because the chargers belong to an independent company. Furthermore I was not happy with the fact that as an hotel client I had to pay for an open, unguarded parking.

Myself, and my son have just arrived home from a 4 night stay here. This hotel is a real gem tucked away high above the city. With this you are guaranteed an amazing view from the restaurants and lounges at any time of the day. We were lucky enough to have a room on the ground floor with a view through the forest to the city below. This hotel is very modern but cosy, super clean and had the comfiest beds ever in our twin room. The breakfast choice was vast everyday with good coffee!! We had dinner here on 2 nights and this was also delicious. It was a real treat to come back to the hotel after long days of sightseeing, sledging and enjoying all of the things Oslo has to offer after a short ride on the T ban. The staff were always very helpful and friendly. This will be my 1st choice when I return to Oslo.
A kettle in the room would be perfect, but there are hot drink facilities throughout the reception area.

I visited this hotel this February, and it was truly a fantastic experience. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with breathtaking panoramic views of Oslo's fjords. One of the great advantages is its location. It’s very close to the Oslo Skimore ski resort, only a 20-minute walk or a short bus ride away, making it perfect for ski enthusiasts. Additionally, the hotel is well connected to Oslo city center via the T1 metro line, allowing for easy exploration of the capital. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a wide selection of fresh and high-quality options. The service was impeccable, truly worthy of a luxury hotel. The wellness facilities were excellent. The sauna was spotless, offering a relaxing experience after a day out in the cold. The gym and stretching/yoga room were also well-equipped, catering to fitness lovers. The hotel also provides a ski storage room, making it convenient to safely store your equipment after a day on the slopes. As for dining, Bistrot 501 was a great surprise—excellent food and a cozy atmosphere. Our room had a beautiful view of the snowy landscape and the city, which was magical. However, the rooms are not as spacious as they might seem in pictures. That said, it wasn’t a big issue since the real charm of the hotel lies in its beautifully maintained common areas. There are tea/coffee machines, fresh fruit, and water fountains with both still and sparkling water available for guests, which is a great touch. There's also a large terrace with stunning views, as well as cozy lounges with fireplaces, creating a charming and authentically Scandinavian atmosphere. Overall, I really loved my stay here. The ambiance, service, and location make it a perfect place for a winter getaway! Would definitely come back!

- exceptionally friendly employees - located in nature with hike trails, but also public transportation nearby (35 minutes to the city center) - all places very clean - room with nice interior - sauna and pool - free but also fast wifi - nice view of Oslo (during good weather)
- lighting in the hotel room is not nice - no direction signs for the pool and walk to the pool is quite far - bathroom old and not very appealing - no clear marking of allergenes at the breakfast Constructive feedback for hotel: - change the lighting in the hotel rooms and renovate the bathrooms to make them more comfortable and feel more valuable (right now it feels like 4,5 star hotel with 2,5 star bathrooms) - install direction signs for the pool and maybe open the door on the lowest floor to shorten the way - please implement clear and consistent indicators at the breakfast for people with allergies and dietary requirements

Absolutely exceptional. So well placed to catch the sunset and sunrise over Oslo, and the breakfast was incredible. Comfy beds, heated floors in the bathrooms! And so close to a plethora of hiking trails. I loved how there was coffee and tea available during the day, and how close to nature it was. And the staff were so friendly, always happy to help. I loved it so much I’ve actually booked to come back next week! Just a hot tip: if you can, don’t taxi it there, definitely use the tram. It’s about 30 minutes into central Oslo and cheap and easy to get tickets on the Ruter app, but the best part is the view!!! Absolutely stunning.
If you’re looking for somewhere more central, this won’t be your best bet. But for those who love nature this is absolutely perfect.

This is a hotel (built in 1960) with a story - a special gift of appreciation from Norway to Sweden - situated at one of the most scenic locations of Oslo. The architecture is surprising and gives the hotel its own unique character. The building consists of several wings that are connected to each other as pavilions by corridors and stairs. Large windows let in a lot of light and also offer a beautiful view when the sky is clear. The rooms have been carefully modernized, but retaining the original functional style of furnishings. Purity over luxury as befits this special place. Time seems to stand still for a moment and offers a breeze of peace. Respect the silence or enjoy the art and music that characterizes this place. Time also to enjoy the good food at the breakfast buffet - bake your own fresh waffles - or a conversation with other guests at the bistro later on. Or both and view the art collection afterwards that is stylishly displayed throughout the hotel. I'd love to visit again.

This hotel is one of the best experiences I've ever had traveling. I was traveling with my partner for a winter holiday and everything about it exceeded our expectations greatly. The location is great - a 30 minute metro ride from city center with the zone 1 ticket (really cheap for a week) and just by the Skimore ski/snowboard center. It's in the middle of Nordmarka, which is the best hiking/skiing trail central around Oslo and boy were there a lot of trails to discover, in the middle of woods there were little cafes to take a small break in and Skimore was really fun too. A couple of metro stations before Voksenkollen (where the hotel is) is Holmenkollen, which has the Ski Tower and lots of cross country trails also. The staff were wonderful - always greeting us with a smile and answering all the questions we could've had. They offered a lot of things we wouldn't even have come up with. For example the hotel has two saunas, one for men and one for women, open from 15 every day. But they offered to reserve one of the saunas for me and my partner so we could go together. The sauna was really good to, clean and above 70 degrees. The hotel itself was awesome - it's built so every room has an awesome view of Oslo and the fjords, sunrises and sunsets are gorgeous. The breakfast room has a beautiful view, there's also a lounge and terrace. The hotel has a gym and a stretching room, which were convenient, but we didn't get to use them, because they were having some renovations/work done and they were really cold. There's also a library and two restaurants, plus a whole lot of conference rooms with three pianos. Breakfast was good - bacon, eggs, sandwich material, muesly and a waffle machine - real Norwegian.
Our room was a good size, the bed was soft and comfortable. There were some stains on the curtains and mattress left from previous visitors but that didn't bother us. Bathroom was kind of small, especially the shower, but still good enough - we didn't spend much time there anyways, there was so much to see and do around the hotel.

The hotel was as descibed by previous reviewers. It is a reasonable distance out of the central city area but this is off set by the very pictureque train ride up to the hotel. The hotel is 500 metres above sea level so the views from the train ride to the hotel and at the hotel are stunning. The view on the train and at the hotel overlooks the city and you can see out towards the Oslo archipaeligo. The room we had was what we had expected and paid for, comfortable bed good bathroom and shower. The hotel has a large number of different facilities for guests to enjoy, a reaading room, swwimming pool, a room with a gas fire for relaxing and a patio which has padded seats to sit outside in the sun and enjoy the views, it also had complimentary tea and coffee facilities but we didn't find this out until ourlast day there. The reception staff were welcoming and we particularly enjoyed the breakfast. A good variety of foods on offer including cereals, fruit, waffles, pastries, cold meats, warm dishes (scrambled eggs, bacon etc.) and an array hot and cold drinks. The staff in the breakfast room made our stay, very warm and welcoming and attentive to the needs of the guests. This was the quiet season for the hotel, which worked to our advantage as we were told it is extremely busy during winter time. We would definitely stay there again and reccommend the hotel to others.
The hotel does not have a lift, which is surprising given the number of rooms within the hotel that are not at reception level. We had to carry our bags up two levels to reception when checking out. We arrived at the hotel using the metro/rail. When we got off at our stop we were'nt quite sure which way to go the hotel as there were no signs indicating where the hotel was. A kind local found the direction for us but it is a bit of a walk uphill to the hotel. Maybe if the hotel offered a shuttle service this would of been of help for us. I suspect though most hotel guests arrive by car or private vehicle and also signage at the train station would be helpful.

A lovely place to stop with great views across and down to Oslo. Local tram service is reliable and cheap and just down the bottom of the hill, perfect for visiting the city. Breakfasts very good as was the evening meal on our first night. Staff understanding when I complained - see below.
On our second evening (Sunday) we returned to the hotel, the swimming pool was welcoming and then after a shower we headed up for our evening meal. The posted menu showed a full Al la Cart range of choices. When ordering our pre-dinner drinks we were told that the only option available that evening was PIZZA?? They also said this was because they had run out of stock as they had 3 large parties in?? Our choice was - go out again or eat Pizza which my wife does not enjoy. In the morning the duty staff were understanding and also horrified that this had occurred offering us a refund for the food. I am sure things will have changed but this was our experience.
