An extremely pleasant boutique hotel, very well designed for both enough privacy and interaction with other guests (very friendly atmosphere, I may add). The staff was wonderful and very helpful with suggestions about events (like a huge merchants’ and farmers’ market), restaurants and places to go to. The breakfast was simple but with all the needs and enough variety for a sustainable morning meal. The cosy atmosphere was really appreciated. A very well-run place indeed 😊. The large backyard lawn with the swimming pool (small as it was) was a very relaxing place to lounge, and enjoy a drink or a simple sandwich. We really enjoyed our stay. Its location is perfect to visit the centre of Amarante, a very charming town indeed.

This was an absolutely modern hotel with a wonderful patio/pool area. The location was in the heart of Amarante and walking distance to everything. The staff were all so nice and in particular, Anna who took a lot of time to answer my many questions. Given the levels between the street, the rooms and the pool area, the elevator was greatly appreciated.

While I really appreciated that they tried to offer hot items for breakfast such as scrambled eggs and bacon rather than just bread and cheese, these items were lukewarm at best. I think their heating equipment was letting them down. Otherwise, the breakfast offered had many options.

Lovely hotel, with nice gardens running down to the river. Perfect place to relax and enjoy Amarante (outside of fiesta time). Staff friendly and very helpful.

We managed to book the week of the fiesta (early June) which was great on one level, (lots going on and great if you want to party) but also meant we got very little sleep (the fun fair was on the opposite bank). It would have been good to have known about the festival in advance so that we could have adjusted our travel plans.

We loved our stay here so much that we’ve booked another 2 nights for the end of the month. The property was clean and modern but with details complimenting its history and the character intact. The pool was lovely and comfortable sun loungers. The staff were helpful and friendly. Location is perfect, just a short walk through the historic centre if you’re arriving by bus - the bus is 45 minutes from Porto.

The only thing that could be improved for me would to have a couple of vegan options

great views from our balcony , short walk to the church, bridge and restaurants, breakfast was fantastic with a great assortment of cold and hot. the property has a nice area to lounge in around the very clean pool. Staff very friendly and helpful we got lucky and got a parking spot on the street directly across from the hotel otherwise parking can be a bit difficult to get to

the corner room has great views and balconies on either side but can get very hot as the sun heats the room up. Took about 3 or 4 hours to cool down

Great location close to the centre of town. Breakfast look was very nice, good choice for breakfast. Beautiful town with a river.

The shower room was very small and the glass door and curtain provide minimal privacy. The shower leaked onto the floor and the floor towel catches in the door every time you want to close it. The hotel lost all its A/C one night, so it was incredibly hot, but it was fixed by the next day.

This was a nicely kept property in a great location. Our room was fantastic - Contemporary, with huge windows leading to a balcony adjacent the pool and gardens. Breakfast was outstanding. Hotel staff was MOST accommodating. The hotel was directly adjacent a pedestrian shop area that led to the bridge and church. There were lots of great shops and tiny restaurants just on the other side of the river.

Using GPS, the hotel was difficult to find - lots of hilly, cobbled, narrow, 1 way streets. BUT, once we found it - VERY nice. Staff member offered and rode with us to show us the overnight parking lot adjacent to hotel. The driving in and out of the area was a bit harrowing at times.

Stunning location. Shutters made room nice and dark.

For a top range room being under the dining room was noisy in the morning being woken up by people moving chairs. Air con despite turning it off, automatically came back on. Waste of electricity plus when out for day room was freezing on return..

The staff was amiable and courteous! Special mention to Daniel who went out of his way to help us with our air-con unit which had stopped working and he managed to make it work again. The swimming pool area was lovely and the hotel is in the city center. The rooms were spacious, well-lit and spotless!

The only downsides were two: When we arrived at the hotel we were informed that our room wasn't ready yet due to an issue with the previous guests. While this is something out of their control, we did have to wait for about 50 mins to check into our room (we were served complimentary coffee but it did not make up for the fact that we had to wait that long). Whatsmore, the breakfast was rather poor and dull.

This is a must hotel stay in Amarante! We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful boutique hotel in a beautiful part of Portugal! We plan to return to this hotel and area to spend more time exploring the wineries, town and overall nearby Douro region. A big thanks to the hotel staff in the restaurant, front desk and housekeeping for helping make our experience memorable and relaxing.

Our room could have used a fan to help cool off when the sun heats the room up and I bet would have been an easy thing to fix with the help of the helpful hotel staff.
