A wonderful designer boutique hotel in the heart of Funchal. The hotel is located at the centre of the town and at the same time close to the sea. The rooms are furnished very thoughtfully, we had a very comfortable stay there. We even had a small kitchen in our room. The breakfast is excellent, there's not a big choice, but everything is tasty and fresh. The great bonus is the rooftop terrace with a magnifique view of the whole city, and at the same time very cozy. The hotel also has a very good Italian restaurant nearby. The staff is super friendly and very attentive. Our daughter was delighted with her daily popcorn!

Lovely property. Beautiful aesthetic! The hotel decor is really gorgeous (great Instagram pictures for those who care?)Loved the cute cups and plates used at breakfast. Enjoyed the breakfast, always had so much variety. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. They gave suggestions whenever we asked about things to do around the island. The private indoor pool experience was also lovely. Enjoyed being outside on the terrace, the views are pretty nice. Complimentary sparkling wine was also very much appreciated. The hotel restaurant also had really good food as well ate there a couple of times. Fatima and the rest a really great hosts!

Our beds were uncomfortable. Bathroom vent was not working.

Roof top bar was nice, bed was nice- two beds pushed together which is very typical! The breakfast was a buffet and had a very large selection of food. Located right next to the cathedral and sea front. Very nice!

Outside was a tapas bar which was incredibly noisy till about 11.

Room was very comfortable, artificial lighting was good considering only a view of the wall of the building opposite. Comfy bed and duvet. Good size room with all the usual facilities. Rooftop terrace was the place for the view with comfy seats, pretty lights and easy music in the evening. The location was fantastic. Right next to the cathedral and just a 3 minute walk to the main street along the sea front, restaurants and bars a stone throw away. Breakfast was typically European with plenty of choice. Pricilla on reception was just great. So helpful with advice about buses, directions, etc. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend and return.

The evening meal served in the terrace was expensive for what it was. But the prices were displayed so we could have gone elsewhere.

Hotel location is brilliant, walkable distance to the old town and the oceanfront and harbour. The rooftop terrace is beautiful for sunrise, sunsets and great views over funchal. Staff were very helpful and friendly and their recommendations were fantastic! I also attended the Fado night on the rooftop and that was great, would definitely recommend. Also I received a room upgrade which was appreciated!

To use the swimming pool, you have to prebook so you can't just access it whenever you want. Spa treatments also have to be pre-booked. Airport transfers booked via the hotel are pricey, especially when you can get a taxi or bus. Would be nice to have some area that is easily accessible to relax and I asked for a mint tea one night and was charged 3.50 euros which was a lot.

It is an original and familiar hotel, full of art and colours on each wall and, things that make the journey very pleasant. Position so central and nearby Sé Cathedral is great and also the ocean is close, reachable in few minutes. My room was very comfortable, full of amenities and it gave to me sense of warmth. Bed super soft. I like the fact in room there was a window on a atrium mano-coloured. It deserves really a mention the rooftop. I tried just white wine but the smart ambient on many levels and the style that takes from Sé Cathedral’s “manuelito” architecture give it a welcoming sensation. Breakfast is utterly full of salted and sweet foods, with vegetables and fruit in abondance! Great also SBH rises on a road closed to traffic. I tried also a very tasty “atum” at the hotel’s restaurant. Last but least, hotel staff was kind, available to my requests, helpful and solicitous. Being awarded of changeable weather on the island, Sé provides umbrellas for clients. At the end, I think SBH in Madeira makes difference 💖

Only flaw, I would have liked to try some of their experiences, but any of them weren’t available because out of season maybe. I will try next time !

Hotel is centrally located to walk everywhere in Funchal. You're in a walking only area but it's a short block to catch any taxi or tour pick up. It's away from the over touristy old town & busy main streets. The roof top bar/garden/dining area is very pretty & provides a great view of the ocean, town & mountains - don't miss the free Fado entertainment on Wednesday night. Breakfast is amazing with many options including delicious fresh fruits (as a bonus, the breakfast staff is super nice).

Nothing but if we had a complaint it would be the odd see-thru glass bathroom where we had to put towels against shower door to prevent floor getting wet! A minor issue.

If you’re a light sleeper, be aware that you hear sounds from the street in the room.

The staff were amazing. We were upgraded to a junior suite and for no clear reason, given a bottle of bubbly to enjoy! (It was the day before valentines, so it may have been this, but I was clear in my booking that we were not a couple and trying to escape all the couples by getting away!) The room was lovely and amazing view. The rooftop and location just perfect . Really would highly recommend it! Next door restaurant too if feeling too lazy to venture far like we did on the last day of a week long holiday!

The bed was a bit springy for me but I wouldn't have complained after all the great things! The main annoyance was the glass bathroom had a curtain on one side for privacy but not the other. If we were only one night it may have got annoying - bear in mind i did book a different room and was upgraded and on looking after, my original room didnt look like it had a glass bathroom.. Also the breakfast wasn't so great sadly - 100% would have gone out to town instead if we're staying more than a night.

The staff work really hard to make clients feel comfortable and go out of their way to be helpful with suggestions on hiking and parking and other things. The rooftop bar is amazing, even in winter. The lounge is inviting and I met some really nice people there which as a solo traveler, I appreciated! I had an excellent experience staying here; I even came back and stayed a second time on this trip!

The coffee could've been better, but there are places very nearby that make excellent flat whites. Other than the coffee, the breakfast was plentiful, and offered a huge variety of choices. I especially enjoyed being introduced to local fruits.
