The property is practically brand new, the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool was beautiful, very clean. Delicious breakfast served with a smile by Pedro and staff. A great place to stay!

The property is a bit isolated, so unless you have a car it is challenging to arrive. Be very careful if driving because the hotel is located on a blind curve so descending cars may not be able to stop! There is no lunch, dinner, or even wine or tapas, so you have to leave for any dining. We were unable to schedule any winery visits which was quite disappointing as that was the reason we were in Douro. We suggest the staff contact a decent selection of local Quintas as options for guests because there isn’t much else to do!

We explored the Douro valley travelling between places by taxi, and where previously we selected quintas based on dinner service, this was a relatively new, clean place to stay for a night near a town enabling us to have a choice of restaurants. Host was attentive and gave us a recommendation for dinner which turned out to be our favourite meal of the whole trip - Casa da Rua in Lamego, fabulous! The pool was bigger than it looks on the photos and had a fabulous view towards Regua.

Breakfast was minimal, perhaps no cooks, cold options only included processed meat and cheese squares, which didn't reflect the cost of the stay vs others.

Absolute gem of the Douro Valley! My husband and I picked the Golden Mirror for the Douro portion of our honeymoon and we were so glad that we did! The rooms are spacious, clean and new and the view from our room was absolutely breath taking! The hosts of the hotel are so SO nice and helped us with parking every time we came back. The hotel is conveniently located about 5 minute drive from Regua and about 10 minute drive to Lamego - both had good options for dining. We did two wine tastings just down the road at Quinta da Pacheco and Quinta de Tourais - both were incredible and just a couple minutes from the hotel. Overall, this hotel is a 10/10! We hope to be back some day.

Spectacular view over the Douro river valley from beautifully designed rooms and from the pool and leisure area.

Though no fault of the owners, you MUST use a car to travel to/from dinner, as it is too dangerous to walk on the roadway (Uber/taxi also available!) Also breakfast is excellent however I believe all the guests thought eggs would emerge from the kitchen as well…perhaps a non-sugary cereal like oats would be a good, easy option for the healthier eaters?

Amazing location, close to the river and beautiful views from the pool and rooms. The hosts and staff are very friendly and the whole place is very modern with good amenities.

Everything was great and we enjoyed our stay, the car park is a bit tight but is secure and giving fobs to guests is great as they didn’t have that last time. The price is possibly higher than some other places further out but the location, views and hospitality/quality all helps this.

The property was located on a hill with breathtaking views of the vineyards and Douro River. Room was very nicely furnished and the whole place was very elegant and luxurious. The property also has a nice pool but we could not use it because of cold temperatures in November. Breakfast was very fresh and good. it is a little paradise in Douro Valley.

Parking a bit tight, but the staff helped with making sure we were all in 'safe spot'.

The property was clean well appointed and tastefully decorated but the view from our room was beyond compare . The river and many vineyards were in view from a perfect vantage point. We could not have wished for a more beautiful view.

It would have been nice to have a drinks fridge in the bedroom for the very hot weather and a tea coffee making facilities.. It was difficult getting the car out from the driveway onto a busy road. And evening meals would have been nice.

Wanna stay in the heart of the Douro valley ? No need to look any further. Golden Mirror has it all: perfect location, totally renewed house, swimming pool and rooms with a better ‘miradouro’ than the official ones in the neighbourhood and hosts that are making you very welcome and at home. However, you do need a car to make the best out of it, but a car you need anyway when you wish to get the most out of your trip to Douro.
