A really special place... Hotel has a really great location overlooking ponta do sol, with absolutely phenomenal views - couldn't be better. So many lovely seating areas and areas to relax, specially around the pool and spa, but I also loved the terrace and cosy fire at night. Breakfast was a highlight every day, with so much choice!

Hotel could do with a re-vamp generally, especially the rooms - they're functional. (Shampoo and conditioner and filtered water would have been nice to have.) Although the spa facilities were great, most days either the sauna or steam room wasn't working properly. The Purple Fridays event, although fun, seemed at odds with the clientele of the hotel (techno DJ). Something more inclusive (like a band) would have been more enjoyable for everyone, rather than something they feel they have to avoid/tolerate.

Super location, high on a cliff overlooking the town and ocean. An easy walk through the town and to the waterfront. The meals were excellent. For breakfast you can have the buffet or order cooked items from a menu, or both. The dinner menu is outstanding with a wide range of options for fish, meat, and vegetarian, and everything we had was delicious. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Our room had a small balcony with a view overlooking the ocean. The bed was comfortable, and the firm pillows we requested were perfect.

The view from the hotel facilities as far as from the room was beautiful. Hotel gardens and flora was pleasant and well kept. The room was accurate as far as the size and its equipment.

The indoor pool and hot tub were dirty and I would definitely not dare to use them. Outdoor pool was a bit cleaner but cooler than the sea in November. Beach with quite large pebbles, the ocean entrance with bare foot was quite complicated. Breakfast was a bit disappointing as far as the offer of hot meals and vegetables. Fruit offer and sweet within breakfast was excellent.

Beautiful location, great staff and food. Especially the hospitality staff - 10/10!! It was perfect for our 5 night stay, easily connected to the rest of the island and the perfect place to come back to and unwind after a full day of activities. Breakfast was excellent, cooked breakfast ordered via a menu to reduce waste, good selection of breads, ham and fruit to complement. Rooms were decent sized with comfy beds and black out curtains. Dinner was AMAZING, we ate in the hotel 3/5 nights as we wanted to try more dishes. Well priced at 30€ for two courses, which included steak, duck, lamb, scallops - very good quality! Pool was gorgeous despite not being able to use much as was cold, we had a few massages which were very enjoyable.

Car park fills up very quickly and won’t fit larger cars (is essentially a bit of road up a hill) so be prepared to park up a hill and walk a little. Apart from this no issues!

The views and spa did not disappoint!! The room was fairly simple but had a gorgeous view and a massive comfy bed. The bathroom was a good size and the shower was good. There was a tv and fridge in the room which was helpful. Each floor is accessible by lift including from the street outside. The staff were wonderful, really helpful and knowledgeable. The included breakfast was amazing , there was even Prosecco, and they catered to my needs as I have coeliac and was provided with gluten free bread and cakes on request. We had dinner in the restaurant also which was great and the downstairs bar has a cosy vibe and fire. The spa facilities were fantastic, beautiful views from the jacuzzi and pools with sun beds scattered around, some in isolated spots so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. On Fridays the hotel hosts a party (6-11:30pm) called Purple Friday which was really good, it was busy with locals and the music is fairly loud BUT some rooms aren’t very near (like ours) so it wouldn’t have disturbed us and it finishes at 11:30pm so you can still get a good sleep. The hotel gave us a free lift to the airport as they were collecting guests at the same time! I would definitely recommend this stunning hotel for a place to relax and unwind.

Absolutely nothing

Wonderful stay! Helpful and attentive staff, delicious breakfast, very good restaurant, very calm and quiet atmosphere, clean pool. Better to rent a car in some advance, as it can be fully booked (july/august) and some highlights of the island are not possible to reach other way. We appreciated very much the transfers to some levada hikes and Funchal though! We highly recommend this place :)

Would be perfect if gym room was taken care of, as one machine isn't working and the other seems to be hardly working. But it is a small detail, you can stay active by going on daily hikes and swimming.

Everything was great. The hotel is situated in a very beautiful location. It was much better to live in Ponta do Sol than in Funchal, because you can enjoy nature and tranquility. The beach is close, the ocean was very warm in July, there are some nice restaurants nearby. The breakfast was good: we could enjoy something new every day during our 10-days trip. I also recommend to do the Levada Nova walk. We liked it more than popular levadas like 25 fontes and there were few people. I really loved the purple fridays in the hotel and the jacuzzi after hikes.

It was quite sad that the windows in the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi were always dirty. I think it will be a much better experience with clean windows.

Stunning views, super friendly and helpful staff, always fresh and delicious breakfast, not to mention hotel offers all these transfers to the popular places to visit/hikes to do. We were happy to get all answers and help regarding our tours, car rent and even we were offered lunch boxes on the days when we had to leave hotel before breakfast (for sunrise tour and early flight). To sum it up we were endless happy we booked this hotel and definitely would come back. It is amazing place for holidays.

Before arriving we read all those reviews about broken elevator but to be honest those complaints sounds really strange as in Madeira you will have to climb steep hills all the time, it's everywhere and there are no elevators on every corner, so if you want to avoid climbing hills just choose other destination.

Location was absolutely fantastic! Spacious and well-kept garden, nice pool and terrace. The restaurant must have one of the best location and views on the whole island. Room was basic, but functional. Staff are very nice. There are lots of different spaces on the hotel; bar, lounge, terraces, various levels etc. giving you a sense of privacy.

Furnitures are a bit old and outdated - modern and minimalistic in 2005, now a bit odd looking (think hard plastic lounge chairs etc.)

I was looking forward to staying at this place - and It didn’t disappoint me! Stylish, modern, great architecture perfectly built-in the surrounding nature, featuring cool colorful details. The room was great, the view - amazing! I liked the outdoor pool a lot, as well as hot tub with 180* view on the ocean. I also spotted try yoga studio there - will try next time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, check-in and checkout are quick and smooth. The breakfast is amazing, featuring buffet and menu.

There’s no room service and the pool bar isn’t good (in therms of drinks), but that’s not something that can ruin your stay. Also, Google navigator sent us to the back of the hotel, very inconvenient road and no hotel access. Make sure, you’ll drive to the lower level of the hotel, where parking and the elevator are.
