From start to finish this mini break was fantastic at private villa. The room was huge with a lovely modern bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and lovely bedding. Also as all the many reviews mention the lovely host Sophia was so friendly and extra helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious and there was something for everyone, the outdoor terrace was very tranquil and we enjoyed sitting there having a drink of wine after a day sightseeing. Sophia also recommended a fantastic fish restaurant including directions and bus numbers etc, and it did not disappoint the food was exceptional. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Porto.

Wonderful place to stay. Away from the crowds, with a 15 minute walk to the main sites of interest. Newish construction in a classic style with tasteful furniture and art. We had a view of the river facing south, the room was a ood size, and the bed was excellent. The small garden with river overlook sas spectacular for sitting out in the shade provided by the grape vines (with ripening grapes). Plenty of birds in the updrafts joined us as we looked over the river and Gaia ont he other sde. Breakfast was great and the innkeeper, Sofia, was very helpful. She was very attentive and has a wonderful touch and sense of style; conversation when we were interested and left us alone when we were not. Wonderful visit We would gladly stay here again. Porto is a vertical city with hills. It's a walking city if you want to stay near the center and the older parts. There are stairs that lead immediatly to the main river avenue and a public escalator that takes pedestrians back up! What a public wonder!

A beautiful villa with stunning views. The style of accommodation is somewhere inbetween a B&B and a small boutique hotel. Our room was private, a great size, and the bed was so incredibly comfortable. Sofia runs the place beautifully, she made us feel relaxed and welcome. On arrival she gave us lots of helpful information about the area, and each day prepared guests a simple but delicious breakfast, with good coffee to kick start the day. Communication was also great; Sofia arranged transportation to and from the accommodation. We really enjoyed our time at the villa, after a day out sightseeing it was nice to come back and sit in the courtyard, enjoying the view with a glass of wine. It made our stay in Porto a wonderful experience. We would book it again and will recommend it to family and friends.

Nothing, it was wonderful. The added bonus was taking an escalator (three actually) up to the street, a few doors down from the villa.

We were first met by Sonja who told us briefly about Porto, where to go and where to be careful. After this, we had the best stay. The breakfast in the morning was continental and great, and the coffee was superb. The hotel room was big, clean and had a good shower. There is also an outside seating area which has some great views of Porto, so most nights after a busy day, we sat and had a drink with a view that would cost you a fair bit on a rooftop bar. I’d recommend Ubers to places from the Villa as it isn’t central but this didn’t hamper the visit as they are so frequent in Porto. Probably one of the best experiences in any travel accommodation we’ve had. I’d easily go again. Maybe even next week!

Without a doubt, the most exceptional of the place is the staff who works there, and the great comfort that they give to the customer. Sofia, is the most amazing staff that a place can have. And of course the rest of the things in the bedroom and the house are perfect. It was quite impressive the views from the roof of the villa, where you can enjoy a delicious Oporto wine at a table over there. For sure if I come back to Oporto, I will repeat!

Stay in Private Villa Porto is a dream come true, something, that will bring happy memories for the rest of one's life. If you are looking for a perfect accommodation and you do not like big unpersonal hotels, this is the right thing for you. Stylish Villa on the hill above the river, walking distance to most of the sightseeings, big beautifully and comfortably furnished rooms, spotless cleanness, super breakfast, coffee, tea and more available any time, terrace to enjoy the beautifull river view over a glas of porto wine and above all Sofia, the best host ever! For once all the enthusiastic reviews just respond to the reality and I cannot imagine anyone who would be disappointed with the stay.

Sofia was a fabulous host … warm and welcoming and tried hard to make sure we would enjoy Porto. Cereals, fruit, toast, pastries, juices, tea and coffee were provided for breakfast. We had the twin room (everything else was taken) … and while the bathroom was compact, the bedroom was spacious with two fully opening windows looking out to the river. The property is located about a 20min walk from the historic centre … the walk down is relatively easy and then relatively flat as you go along the river … walking back there are some steep climbs but if you’re heading back before 8.30pm there are elevators that make that easier. If you’re not up for walking hills then Uber/Bolt are a cheap way to get around.

Nothing really … the only suggestion we would have is that the bed could have a separate sheet as well as the duvet to accommodate ‘hot’ sleepers

Sofia is an excellent host. She gave me all the information about the locality that I needed to know and ordered me a taxi to take me to the airport. She was always at hand when needed. The property has been very expertly and tastefully decorated and the views of the Douro are great. It has a feeling of intimacy which you don't often get. The small garden feels like a refuge from all the activity of the city. The place is spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent - among the best breakfasts that I have had at any hotel - and Sofia is flexible if you need to have breakfast early.

I can't think of anything that would have improved my stay.

The villa is filled with interesting art and elegant, tasteful furnishings. The manager Sofia was exceptionally friendly, helpful, graciously flexible, even kindly researching some stores in town for me. The delicious, varied breakfast offered plenty of freshly baked pastries, fruits, cereals, yogurts, high-quality cheeses, cold cuts, and different breads... and superb coffee, served with a pitcher of hot milk -- just like I make it! :-))). There is a large, quiet, verdant patio with a comfy couch overlooking Douro river -- perfect for a respite after touring the city.

Bathroom would be more user-friendly with some shelves or more hooks/racks for personal items. However, it had a very good shower, and the hot water came on immediately.

Based on reviews from Booking.com, we booked two nights at Private Villa Porto. It could not be more correct choice. Our stay was absolutely beyond our expectations. I have to say almost all the previous reviews about Private Villa Porto were correct that provided us with enough confidence to book at PVP. Our room was spacious and spotless clean, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was abundant with excellent coffee. Hostess Sofia is amazing. She will give guests of clear city orientation, restaurant recommendation and help booking tickets online as well as taxi arrangement. Our baggage did not arrive with our same flight to Porto. We spent hours over phone with airline and ended up clueless about when we can retrieve our baggage. We were so worried if we can have then within two days of stay in Porto. More importantly my medication was put inside chech-in suitcase. Sofia learned my situation and quietly spent hours to trace our luggage and update the progress to us over WhatsApp timely. With her tireless efforts, our baggage was sitting in the lobby early in the next morning. We couldn't be happier. Without Sofia, our visit to Porto could be totally ruined. Definitely, definitely and strongly recommending this place. Hardly find such a nice host like Sofia.
