The apartment was central to local eateries and the weekly market, and a short 15 minutes from the Cite. The spacious and light apartment in a renovated old house was beautifully presented with all the facilities needed for a relaxing visit. The host, Alex communicated the code for the keys in the lock box and followed up with a call to see how I was settling in. There were biscuits and cake to enjoy on arrival. Alex came to my rescue when I was unable to extract the address of my next accommodation from Bookabach, and he was able to make calls to give me the information needed. I am very grateful!! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend "The Apartments" to anyone wanting a comfortable stay in Carcassonne. For travellers with cars, get a weekly car park pass at the underground car park nearby, allows you access on Sundays and after 8pm!

Nothing, everything was great! Be aware, that as everywhere in France, there are stairs!

Useful guidance was given on getting from the airport and accessing the keys after a delayed arrival. A follow up message the next day says much about the hosts. The flat was very clean, simply but comfortably furnished and wonderfully bright. The bed, which looked almost new, was very comfortable indeed and the bedlinen really good quality. The kitchen was well equipped. It was a delightful home from home for a week and in a really good central position. Alexander could not have been more attentive and thoughtful.

A really tiny thing: I always get myself some flowers on arrival if I'm staying somewhere. Maybe a vase in with the rest of the kit?

High quality clean apartment on the 3rd floor which is on the top floor. Welcome sweet snacks in the kitchen alongside coffee pods and variety of good quality tea bags. Tristan very helpful in good places to visit and eat out. Tristan also very knowledgeable in choosing wines for the right food and occasions. Location fantastic, close to the town square where the main eateries are, very short walk from airport shuttle stops, bus routes, railway station, canal and shopping. Close walking distance to visit medieval city for Europe largest medieval castle the highlight of Carcassonne, the main purpose for visiting.

Wifi not very good on the top floor, half the time I used phone data for Internet. An optional choice of lightweight summer duvet would be better for warm days.

Lovely quirky apartment in an old building nicely restored. Alex (our host) greeted us in his wine shop on the ground floor with a free bottle of wonderful wine (nice move on his part as it led to a big order!) Few minutes walk from the airport bus and afterwards everything very central - 7 minutes to train station and 3 minutes to the town square.

Nothing. Avoid eating in the square (we were eaten by midges and the food is over priced for mediocre quality) - much better value and genuine French food in the restaurants close to the apartment which we loved

Our second visit, it's a great location very close to the main square of the Bastide. Easy walking to all the sites. Excellent food outlets nearby, markets and patisserie/boulangeries/fromageries within 5mins walk. Only 8mins on foot from the train station. And it's above a wine shop that champions the region's wines/runs tastings/tours. Spectacular castle. Only 45mins by train to Toulouse.

Light sleepers should take ear plugs. Intermittent WiFi in the top floor flat (far from the router).

A tastefully restored town apartment, right in the heart of town. We loved the exceptionally comfortable bed, spacious shower and relaxed chic lounge. We particularly enjoyed hanging off the balcony and observing the goings on in the street below and chatting to the neighbours❤️ La Bastide, was the perfect location for us. Away from major tourist hotspots, yet still felt very much in the heart of the town. Everything was within reasonable walking distance or a cheap regular bus service. The market square was a great place for a leisurely breakfast and we found some excellent restaurants in the side streets a few 100 yards from the apartment. Alex was a great host, so warm and welcoming and we will definitely be hunting out the delicious sparkling wine you introduced us too.

Honestly, there was nothing , but guests should be prepared that having the windows open means it can get quite noisy.

Apartment is 8mins on foot from Gare de Carcassonne and right in the centre of town, above an excellent wine shop and next to a fantastic artisan pizzeria. It ticked all our boxes for location. Everything we needed for our short break was on hand. It was still hot in mid September, but shutters, an excellent shower, fans and the balcony breeze kept us comfortable. The apartment was very clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, and we had a lovely large comfortable bed. Within a few minutes walk in the morning we found market stalls, a fromagerie, a boulangerie, a pharmacy, plus an excellent mini supermarket. The wine shop offers informal wine tastings (with cheese) that we were able to book onto. Highly recommended (message Alex for details). The 'sights' were all walkable, and we found a number of great places to eat out and relax. The location in Carcassonne and the apartment was everything we hoped for, and more! It clearly states this is a town centre apartment. The price you pay for the excellent location (1 minute from the main square) is the street noise from below. So we packed some ear plugs. If you are a light sleeper, be prepared, or buy some from the excellent pharmacy just 2mins away on foot. We'd book again, no hesitation.

Perfect location just off the main square in the Old Town, plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants bakeries to choose from. Lovely bottle of wine on arrival which was a nice touch. Balcony was a nice spot to sit with a drink and people watch. Exactly as pictured.

Can hear some noise from the street outside because of the original windows (as 99% of buildings there do), bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper

The hosts did everything possible to create a wonderful atmosphere and facillity. Thanks to their offer of alternative dates (due to flight cancellation) I had a memorable experience of Carcassonne. Their warm welcome and send- off means I will be back. Many thanks to all who provided a safe authentic acommodation for me in Carcasdonne.

A center city location means ear plugs are essential packing for a good nights sleep after a long journey wherever you arrive, however it also provides fantastic potential for experience, fun, sight seeing and great meals without the bother of locating a taxi. I recommend Rur Barbes as a safe location for a center city stay in Carcassonne.

Good central location, close to restaurants and amenities. Not far to walk to the the train station or the castle. Kitchen was well equipped and the bathroom had shampoo and conditioner, which is great if you are travelling light. Nicely decorated and enjoyable to chill out there. Really enjoyed having the Carcassonne boardgame there to play 😃

It was very hot and the street noise is loud at night. But it was August and in the middle of the town. The toilet seat lid drops down on you 😄
